I love, love, love pop music and feel like the radio is currently jammed with so many hits! Lots and lots of great workout tunes.

Untitled

Henry especially loves Boom Clap and even knows some of the chorus (I love that song because it feels circa 1993 – doesn’t it?).

Anyway – these tunes provided the perfect background as I busted out this very fun gym workout last night.  I felt incapable of doing anything for a long time but wanted a varied, challenging workout.  This was (practically) perfect:

Untitled2

I say practically perfect because I only made it through one round of the lunges, push-ups, and planks.  I caught a few gym goers giving me a “WTF are you doing? Go lay down, pregnant lady” look.  Hah.  I guess I looked tired.  Not going to lie – this was one of the hardest workouts that I have done in a LONG time.  And I felt really good after!  Just pretty damn tired.

Should You Run Today?

Hahaha – I died of laughter while taking this really fun and quick “Should You Run Today?” quiz from RunnersWorld.com.  By the way – my answer was “yes.”  So I ran.

Random Thoughts

Does anyone else feel that their bangs grow faster than the rest of their hair?  And the nails on one hand grow faster than the left?

Did any moms notice that they got the linea nigra with one kid and not the other? I haven’t gotten mine yet and it was wicked dark when I was pregnant with Henry.

We had our carpets professionally cleaned yesterday. I didn’t realize how gross they were until they were cleaned.  I hate carpet.

Speaking of floors, what do you think is the best way to clean hardwood floors? I’ve been using the Make Your Own Swiffer Pads thing for a while but I alternate with plain water. I kind of just want to try something new.

Most people make crappy fruit salads.  Here’s how to make a good one.

I am really looking forward to the Fall – we’ve had a few days of cooler weather here (think, like, 70s instead of 90s) and it is glorious.  I am also looking forward: pumpkin flavors and Halloween.

I’ve heard the linea nigra is worse with boys, so maybe you are having a girl?!?

  • Samantha August 27, 2014, 7:43 am

Bangs grow faster than the rest of your hair until you’re trying to grow them out. 🙁

    • Caitlin August 27, 2014, 8:25 am

      Haha that is very true.

Hardwood Floors…(what our cleaning service does)
Vacuum the floors (Remove any rugs and shake out)
Use wood floor soap and mop to mop floors
ceiling fans help them dry more quickly
It leaves a nice smell and a polished look!

This workout idea is great! I have become addicted to swimming and body pump (2-3 days of body pump, 3 days of swimming laps) and my gym is closing the pool and classes for a week… I need to have some fun stuff to do!!

I use the Shark steam mop on our hardwood floors and they look and feel great when dry! I like this because it does not require any floor soap or chemicals which i safer for my son and kitties 🙂

I’ve heard steam mops can warp wood flooring! I use bona brand or apple cider vinegar mixed with water

I thought the same thing about the linea nigra…until it finally appeared again! I have momnesia about when that was, but it was definitely later in my pregnancy. I’m still waiting for it to completely fade at 5 months pp.

I feel like I had mine by now but a bunch of people said it didn’t happen for them until 30 weeks. Hmmm.

my bangs grow way too fast.

  • Ashley August 27, 2014, 10:25 am

The nails on one hand totally grow faster!! I don’t have bangs but I seem to remember those grew insanely fast too.

I didn’t get the line thing with either pregnancy, and like you we opted to not find out the sex. My first was a girl, and I have heard that the line is more common with boys. Soooo maybe we’re both having girls this time?! Apparently this baby did not get the memo that s/he was supposed to be here 2 days ago so I hope to know soon who is in there.

Oh man, I can’t wait until the cooler weather rolls in! I live in Arizona and its still hitting the 100s every day. Ick! Speaking of Fall and pumpkins – did you see the Food Babe’s expose about Starbucks’ pumpkin spice latte? I wanted to cry!! Looks like Ill be making a homemade version this year. Sigh.

Haha sometimes i try not to read her posts because it ruins too many things for me – I refuse to read the PSL post.

Moderation with everything, right? What’s life if you have to worry about every. single. thing. in your food. I used to have an eating disorder and followed those types of sites all the time, but took it way too far. Now, I know one PSL isn’t going to kill me and I will most definitely be so much happier!

        • Caitlin August 27, 2014, 8:12 pm

I definitely think food awareness has it’s value but, like you, I want to have a little bit of everything, too. 🙂 glad to see your balanced mindset!!

I had a ridiculously dark linea nigra with my first pregnancy (a girl) and still had it almost a year later! Now I’m expecting a boy any day and I have one but it is super light.

  • Megan @ Piece of Kake August 27, 2014, 10:57 am

I’m also really looking forward to fall! I love finding new workout songs to work out too!

  • Laura @SheEatsWell August 27, 2014, 12:02 pm

Ha ha…I’ve had bangs all my life and they grow so dang fast. I guess that is a good thing though, healthy. I just take the scissors and cut them myself…probably not the best idea, but oh well! And thank you for the songs – I’ve been seriously bored with my current running playlist – adding a few new songs always makes me look forward to the run. Love Sia’s Chandelior!

I use a Bona mop and cleaner on my floors. They make cleaners for all kinds of different flooring and they all work great! And when I’m done I can just put the reusable pad in the washer – easy peasy. I absolutely hate mopping floors and this is the only thing I’ve tried that’s easy enough to get me to actually do it.

  • Gina August 27, 2014, 3:53 pm

I have a shark steam mop for all of my hard floors. I love that it sanitizes without chemicals. I have a baby who will be crawling any day now and would prefer he not crawl all over toxins 🙂

  • Michelle @ A Healthy Mrs August 27, 2014, 4:26 pm

Great song list — my tunes needed to be refreshed! Off to do some iTunes buying 🙂

  • Ali August 27, 2014, 5:35 pm

I always use the Bona spray on my hardwoods (I used a dry Rubbermaid Reveal mop to clean after spraying) and then I super dilute method all purpose cleaner for the linoleum in the bathrooms with the Reveal mop. It works so well and I don’t spend a ton on clean supplies and do not have a ton of waste. Both are safe for pets and kids! 🙂

I had a dark Linea negra with my son. with my daughter it appeared, but later and lighter. So, my guess for you is you’re having a girl!

  • Hollie August 28, 2014, 7:59 pm

I am wondering if it is worse with 1st child vs. 2nd child. Mine was really dark with #1 (a girl) and lighter with this one #2 (who is a surprise).

I use water and vinegar on my floors and it gets them really clean. However, I don’t love the smell. When my cleaning lady comes, the rest of the good smells over-power the vinegar, but when I do it I would rather it smell refreshing. I am going to keep following this post to see if there are more ideas.

The Norwex mop system is amazing! You’ll never buy another mop again. It cleans all floor types and the cleaner is an enzyme product which is a chemical free (doggie and kid safe) cleaner!!:) I am an independent consultant and the mop was basically the whole reason I signed up!!
