Clearly this is going to be a random post!  I just have so many small but fun things to share.

Henry found my Where’s Waldo book and is OBSESSED.  I love Where’s Waldo – I find looking at the pictures to be very relaxing.  Yes, I seriously sip tea and look for Waldo as a bedtime wind-down activity.  But this book is awesome for toddlers, too!  It’s a great car book.

I want to do this over the weekend…  I’m so sick of stuff my tank tops onto a shelf.

On Wednesday, I attended a little essential oils class from a friend of a friend who sells DoTerra products.  It was so interesting.  You guys know that I *love* essential oils.  My current favorite is Wild Orange.  Anyway – I wanted to buy ALL THE OILS after the sales pitch.  How cool would it be to have, like, a pharmacy of oils in your home?  I resisted the urge and only purchased two – Ylang Ylang and Melaleuca.  I may not have a pharmacy of oils yet, but I’m getting closer.

Oh, I wanted to mention another morning sickness relief trick that I used.  Have you heard of SeaBands?  They are these bracelets you wear on your wrists that push up against a specific acupuncture point.  I wore them almost non-stop from Week 5 – Week 10, and they REALLY worked for me.

Just thought I’d share in case other mommas-to-be were searching for more options for morning sickness relief.

Aaaand here is this week’s workouts because I’m pretty proud of myself for doing something physical every day.

Monday – 2.2 mile run/walk

Tuesday – 1000 yard swim + leg strength training

Wednesday – 1.5 mile hike

Thursday – 30 minutes on various cardio machines at the gym

Friday – 2.2 mile run/walk

One of our neighbors has this pink flamingo in his yard, and we always run past it… I’m pretty sure that Henry thinks it’s real.

And last, but not least, shall we gobble up this delicious recipe?

PicMonkey Collage

Ingredients (for 12 mini quiches):

  • 1 and 1/4 cup frozen corn
  • 1 cup goat cheese
  • 1/4 cup sundried tomatoes
  • 10 eggs
  • Salt to taste

Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 375.
  • Spray cupcake tin with non-stick spray.
  • Evenly distribute frozen corn into each cupcake tin.
  • On top of the corn, add even portions of goat cheese.  Smush the goat cheese up with your fingers to make a flat disc, and then put on top of the corn.  You don’t need to cover the corn completely, but this helped the corn stay on the bottom of the quiches.
  • Chop sundried tomatoes and evenly distribute on top of goat cheese.
  • Beat eggs and salt in a large mixing bowl.  Pour egg mixture equally into each cupcake.
  • Bake at 375 for 30 minutes.
  • Remove and let cool.

Hi! I’ve never commented before but I just wanted to say, please, please do some research on essential oils (not provided by multi-level marketing companies such as young living or doterra) before you ingest oils. Especially when pregnant. These companies sell amazing oils but the information they provide can be misleading or even dangerous. You mentioned yourself how powerful the oils are and there are many sources where you can read about just what they can do to your system
when ingested. Anyway, I hope I didn’t offend, I began my essential
Oil journey with Young Living and while I still love their oils I understand after much research that there is a possibility that some things (high price, recommendations to apply neat/ingest) may be an effort to make more money for those at the top of the “pyramid”.

Ahh interesting and totally makes sense. I am super cautious about not only ingesting but smelling too!!! Smelling certain oils totally puts me over the top. Do you have a particular website you like to use? I always just check the oils across different sites to make sure they all say the same thing.

I was actually thinking the same thing… My SIL works for DoTerra, and swears by the healing properties for her family of 6. I was very interested in learning about them, and seeing what I could use them for, but now that I am expecting (16 weeks on Sunday!!), it just makes me nervous. Not to say that I have read anything about them all being harmful, but I did research a few that were not safe during pregnancy. My SIL makes quite a good living selling the oils, but she acknowledged that she would need to do more research before recommending any to me. Like I said, super interested in learning more, but just need to make sure I would be using the right/safe ones. Thanks for sharing, Caitlin, and I am curious to read what other people chime in with!

P.S. So glad morning (more like all day for me :-)) sickness has seemed to subside!

I just started using DoTerra oils a month ago myself! I am really enjoying finding out all the uses for them. A lot of folks I know use this website to reference ailments and treatments:

Oh my, I sell DoTerra and LOVE them! I was like you, I went to a get together and was sold 🙂 I’ve used them to help my family so much (even my 11 month old). Keep us posted, i’d love to hear how you use Ylang Ylang!

  • Adrienne June 28, 2014, 1:56 pm

I’ve never been pregnant but I LOVE Sea Bands for long car rides when I’m in the passenger seat. Normally I can’t look down but when I wear them I can read without getting SUPER nauseous.

    Hi Caitlin,
I was wondering if you still had your vitamin website? I don’t see it in your sidebar anymore.

    • Caitlin June 30, 2014, 8:29 am

      We do! It’s vitaminsforvegetarians.com

  • Alisha June 29, 2014, 6:37 pm

I was at a DoTerra party this wknd as well and purchased Wild Orange. The host made the best fruit dip w/ it. She used the Greek Gods brand honey yogurt and stirred in just a couple of the orange drops. Served w/ apple slices and strawberries, it was to die for!

  • Krista June 30, 2014, 9:42 am

I did that tank top trick with all my scarves. Best idea ever! 🙂
