Slap on the sunscreen and break out patio furniture – it’s feeling more and more like SUMMER!

If in every photo you see of Henry for the next month, he is wearing that Thomas the Train shirt, that’s because I truly cannot peel it off him.  And when I finally do, he begs me to put it in the laundry machine immediately.  I need to buy another version of the same shirt!  YES…  We have entered “that stage” of toddlerhood, and it is absolutely adorable.  I love it.

Anyway – speaking of sunscreen:

We have gotten more use from our newborn tub as an outdoor pool!  And I’d love an outdoor pool that’s big enough for me to get into, too.  The community pool opens OH-SO-SOON.  It will still be freezing but at least I can dip more than my toes in.  Smile

Last night, we inhaled this amazing quinoa dish while relaxing on the back deck:

In the mix:

Quinoa

Strawberries

Cucumbers

Chickpeas

Balsamic Dressing

Workout of the Day:

I found this workout on Peanut Butter Finger’s workout page (which is really great, by the way), and yeah – it’s going to crush me when I do it at the gym later.

Have an awesome day.  <3

I don’t need summer or pool weather yet, but I’d be just happy with it staying in the 50s for a few days…

  • Julie @ Peanut Butter Fingers April 2, 2014, 8:28 am

Thanks so much for the shout out, Caitlin! I hope you love the workout!! And that hat on Henry is TOO adorable. He looks like a Florida boy… 😉

Have you heard about this; http://thomasthetrain.net/index.php/pages/north-carolina-transportation-museum.html It’s about 40 minutes north of Charlotte… you can all go for a 30 minute train ride on Thomas. There’s also a ton of other festivities set up. We’ve taken the kids every year for the past 3 years. Henry would LOVE it.

Love the quote by Oprah! I am trying to follow that right now and create my dreams into my reality! 🙂

  • Annette@FitnessPerks April 2, 2014, 11:51 am

I love that quote! And isn’t that the truth?!

  • Jessica April 2, 2014, 12:08 pm

I am definitely loving this warm weather, too! Where did you get his Thomas the Train shirt? My (almost) 2 year old loves Thomas too and would love this shirt! We are also going to ride Thomas here in Birmingham, Alabama this weekend, ya’ll definitely should check it out when it comes near you!

  • Chelsea @ TableForOne April 2, 2014, 12:17 pm

How fun for Henry! I am loving the warmer weather we have had….although it isn’t warm enough for swimming yet in Northern Utah. That salad looks fantastic. It is so summery and colorful. I will have to add this to my weekly salad rotation.

Okay, I need to try that dish, it sounds wonderful. Does Henry eat things like that? I tried giving my 19-year-old quinoa on her plate once and she just pushed it around. But I do bake it into little quinoa bites with veggies, egg and a cheese and she eats those!

And brilliant idea on the baby bathtub outside! Stealing that one!

    • Caitlin April 2, 2014, 1:43 pm

He will but only if I keep everything separate!!

  • Stephanie @ Whole Health Dork April 2, 2014, 1:10 pm

I can’t believe you’re outside in shorts, tees, and in a pool (well, not you.) We’re still wearing winter coats in Massachusetts! Can’t wait for days like that.
Dinner looks delicious and that workout is great–it’s one of my go-to’s!

  • Rebecca April 2, 2014, 3:16 pm

The tshirt thing reminds me of the Petsmart commercials where the owner stocks up on toys for his dog for when the old one gets chewed up or needs to go in the laundry!!

We’re not *quite* to shorts and swimming pool temps, although some of the crazier MNers are, I guess. High for today is supposed to be 39, and I almost didn’t bother wearing my coat on my way home from work, but it was still a bit nippy.
Our community pool is only open so many days in the summer (like, fewer than people would like, I think), which is kind of a bummer. I went last summer on their last open day and had fun, but I don’t go too often. Not much of a swimmer.

Hey Caitlin! I just found your blog via Julie @pbfingers. My son just turned 3 and is also obsessed with Thomas and all things trains. He also loves another train show called Chugginton. The “Thomas’ Day Out” events they have at train museums are great. We took our son last Spring and he still talks about it. Love your blog!

    • Caitlin April 2, 2014, 3:58 pm

Ooo I will look up Chugginton! If I hear the Thomas song one more time… LOL 🙂
      Thanks for stopping by!

  • Kelli April 2, 2014, 4:36 pm

Adorable picture! Looks like awesome weather.

  • Runner Girl Eats April 3, 2014, 6:31 am

That picture of Henry is honestly the best. My thoughts exactly 🙂

  • leatitia April 3, 2014, 8:53 am

I have a sweet thomas the train pyjamas set I could give to you, it’s a bit small for my 3yo. if you dont mind sharing a PO box, or your address, I could send it to Henry. From a Thomas The Train toddler to another. 😉

    • Caitlin April 3, 2014, 1:57 pm
