What I’m wearing:

Gray jeans from Loft (which, by the way, are on ridiculous sale), my favorite super soft tee, and my Stitch Fix scarf.  Also wearing:  a fine layer on Henry’s snot from head to toe. I am a human Kleenex.

What I’m loving:

This awesome trick for mashed potatoes.  Put the entire potato in a pot of water, boil as you normally would until the potato is soft, remove, let cool, and then use a paper towel to rub off the skin.  TADA.  No peeling required.

What I’m eating:

Obviously, I had mashed potatoes for breakfast.  With curry eggs and spinach.  Try it.  It’s really good!

What I needed:

A BREAK!  And I got it this weekend.  Oh  my goodness, this weekend was so lovely.  I don’t think I did more than 30 minutes of cleaning, working, or home improvement.  And I took a much-needed two hour nap on Sunday.  In short, it was blissful.

What I’m going to miss:

This weather.  Things are supposed to turn chilly and gray again soon.  So sad – we had a little sneak peek of what spring will be like and – let me tell you – it’s going to be AWESOME.

What I’m reading:

the_husbands_secret

I actually just finished The Husband’s Secret – it was so good.  I plowed through it because I really wanted to know what happened.

What I’m grateful for:

Everything.  Every.  Single.  Thing.

What I’m moving:

Just the running muscle so far!  It’s day three of Ironman March, my quest to run, bike, and swim an Ironman.  I may log almost all my running miles this week – my half marathon is on Saturday.

What are you up to?

That was a cute post. I am taking a step back from running. Only once or twice a week for me…..doing lots more strength workouts.

I am currently eating brown rice, quinoa and chia seed Pop Chips. Pretty yummy. especially with garlic hummus.

Did my first swim in about 20 years at the Y this weekend. Snaps to me for being in bathing suit in public. The pool is only 20 yards long, which means I went an impressive sounding 30 laps. : ) I am completely impressed by people who do the ironman swimming in open water.

James looks so doggy cute with his head cocked to the side.

      GET IT 🙂 Awesome job.

  • Erin March 3, 2014, 3:36 pm

Thanks for the link to the jeans, you can not beat $12 for jeans at Loft. I have been debating gray jeans for awhile, you convinced me to finally take the plunge!

And the shoes….you forgot to mention where your flats are from. Been looking for a COMFY pair of nude flats. Do tell please!!

    • Caitlin March 3, 2014, 3:57 pm

They are from Jcrew! They are old though 🙁

  • Nicole March 3, 2014, 4:07 pm

I am laying in bed sick today 🙁 Going to pick up my kiddos from the dayhome soon. Had a long nap, vitamin c packed smoothie, my favorite sweats and reading my favorite blogs!

      Feel better!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sara @ LovingOnTheRun March 3, 2014, 4:21 pm

I just finished working out and running. Now im catching up on emails and getting some work done before taking a break for dinner! Pretty low key day in our household

  • Jen@HealthyFoodandFamily March 3, 2014, 5:05 pm

That book sounds awesome, just added it to my Goodreads “to read” list. Thanks for the recommendation 🙂

Those jeans look amazing! I’ve been looking for a light colored pair of skinny jeans. How do they fit? True to size? Big/Small?

    • Caitlin March 4, 2014, 7:44 am

      True to size!

      • Cate March 4, 2014, 3:03 pm

        Thank you!

  • Stacy K March 3, 2014, 5:26 pm

I started the husbands secret during a business trip, but have been so tired in the evenings I keep falling asleep while I’m reading. I’ve enjoyed it so far though!

  • Emily @ Transitional Objects March 3, 2014, 7:10 pm

I love these “what” posts and, in particular, the mashed potatoes/spinach/curry egg breakfast brilliance! I must replicate this in my own kitchen. And soon!

As for me, I’m icing my ankle after this evening’s workout. That included a speedy 5K run (I’m recovering from a sprain) and squats with the bar and weights — my first time ever for that!

  • Elizabeth {Positively Healthy} March 3, 2014, 8:01 pm

Such a cute post! I just bought those jeans as well! Crazy sale!!! I might have done a happy dance in the store! 🙂

  • Cate March 3, 2014, 9:27 pm

I love your outfit! Your jeans and shirt look super comfortable and are great prices! Do you find they run true to size? Thanks for sharing.

    • Caitlin March 4, 2014, 7:43 am

I think they do – they run true to size for ‘adult’ sizes, I guess.

  • Katie @ Talk Less, Say More March 3, 2014, 9:50 pm

LOVE it! Well, minus being a human kleenex…

  • Shari March 3, 2014, 10:08 pm

I’ve heard great things about that book!

  • Nicole March 3, 2014, 11:57 pm

I just always leave the skins on when I make mashed potatoes but that’s a great idea! I’m currently staying up later than a pregnant lady ought to be because I’m having trouble getting used to my husband’s new work schedule! Love that outfit you’re wearing, btw 🙂

I know that you asked for comments on the new design a while ago, but I didn’t get around to writing back then.

I usually read blogs on my computer, but having just had my second child 4 weeks ago, I find myself reading from my phone a lot of the time. I like the look of the new theme, but from the phone the text seems very small, and unfortunately not very easy to read.

The First Picture of You, Henry And James Looks Like An Albulm Cover!

  • Stephanie @ Whole Health Dork March 4, 2014, 7:10 am

Looks like a lovely weekend! Can’t wait until spring hits Massachusetts. 4 degrees this morning. Ugh. Thanks for sharing the potato trick!

  • Abby March 4, 2014, 8:15 am

I totally get it with the whole snot thing! I have two little girls who have runny noses right now. I swear I’m not buying anything real nice until they are 8 and 9 years old! 😉
I’m waiting for spring…it’s 11 degrees right now:(

  • Laura @ SneakersandSpatulas March 4, 2014, 9:19 am

Love the jeans! I just ordered them and they are 50% off now so I scored them for 50% off! Thanks for sharing!

I started filling out my Ironman March spreadsheet this week! It will help with my 70.3 training!

  • Megan March 4, 2014, 1:01 pm

well, dang. I love those jeans and you cannot beat that price. But they’d be highwaters on me, and I can’t seem to find the same jeans in talls. Boo

  • Kelly March 4, 2014, 1:11 pm

    What I wanted:

A 2 hour delay to school today because of the ice. I got it and got an extra 2 hours to snuggle my love bug this morning.

  • Ashley March 4, 2014, 1:25 pm

I do that with my potatoes, too! Such a time-saver!
I have a reader request!! I’d love to read more about managing time as a work-from-home mom! I know this is something you’ve written about in the past, but I’m sure things change as Henry has grown from a baby into a toddler. I have a similar situation & similar-aged children and would love to hear from you about your experiences, along with any tips/tricks!!!

    • Caitlin March 4, 2014, 2:29 pm

I have been thinking about writing this! I will try to do it soon. Thanks for the suggestion!

  • Kirsten March 4, 2014, 7:33 pm

    Good book!!

  • Stacey March 5, 2014, 3:41 pm

I’ve plowed through all of her books – LOVED them. What Alice Forgot was very, very good too.

  • Tiffany March 6, 2014, 10:55 am

Just ordered the jeans, too! Less than $13 for super cute jeans?! Thanks for the link!
