Start March Off RIght

I’m so happy to be home.  What a long week!

I woke up this morning with one thought on my mind – “JUICE!”  I opened the fridge hoping that we had enough produce to make everyone a big glass of juice and was so happy to see that we did.

2/3 packed bag of chopped kale

2/3 bag baby carrots

1 lemon

3 Gala apples

2 large cucumbers

2 inches ginger root

This recipe makes about three servings.

Practically perfect… until Henry pushed his glass over into my lap!  I consider it a small miracle that I had my legs crossed so the juice ended up entirely on me and not on our linen chairs.  Lesson learned  – no cups without lids for little Henry!

And don’t forget – today kicks off Ironman March!  You can read the complete ‘rules’ of the month on this post and click to view printable PDF.

Have an amazing Sunday.  <3

Happy Saturday! Have a great weekend!

Do you think a juicer is necessary to make juice, or does a blender work? We make a ton of smoothies in our blender–I guess I’m not sure what the difference is.

the juicer removes the pulp so it’s just liquid. If you ran it though a blender, you’d have the entire fruit and would probably have to add water.

i make the same “juice” in a vitamix (i guess not actually juice since like stated, it requires additional liquid and includes the entire fruit/vegetable). i add about 1/3 cup almond and/or apple juice to mine to get the consistency right

You can make the puree in a blender (I use a VitaMix) or food processor and strain out the pulp using a mesh strainer. I do this as too much of the raw fiber from smoothies that include veggies wrecks havoc on my digestive system. The VitaMix only needs a little bit of water to get it going.

Caitlin, I had my first juicing experience last week with Celery, Apple, Ginger, and Carrot…I have to say, I didn’t like it much at all! Does juicing take awhile to get used to?

Was it too gingery? I feel like ginger is real ease to go over board on. Maybe try adding an orange!

I wish we could juice! It always looks so delicious! Hope you have a wonderful weekend with your family 🙂

I think you mean Saturday, not Sunday! You made me second guess what day it was! :]

Hi from Sweden! I found your blog when searching for info about dream feeding babies. I found what you wrote very helpful since we’re now struggling with a 15 weeks old little fellow who wakes up alot to feed during the night… I’m so tired after these sleepless three months and desperate for some ideas that will help him to sleep longer between feeds.
I realize the dream feeding probably hasn’t been relevante for you for quite a while now, but I’d like to ask you some questions about it if you dont mind?
First off, now that you’ve been there and done it, what is your over-all opinion – good or bad? Did you and your baby benefit from dream feeding or was there some negative sides to it?
I also dream feed our son while he is sleeping flat on his back, but I’ve heard that its not to be recommended. Did it work out fine for you or did you start picking him up to feed him? It seems to be working out fine for my son but I haven’t been doing this for more than a few nights yet. I’m a bit worried that him laying so flat on his back increases the risk of choking or throwing up. What is your experience?

Ok, such a long comment, sorry about that. I’d be so thankful if you would take the time to answer my questions but of course I’ll understand if you dont gave the time or energy.
All the best to you and your family!

Everyone got me worried about dream feeding him flat so I started to pick up him so I could do it at an angle 🙂 He never woke up.

I was wondering if you were going to do Ironman March this year while I was at spin class on Tuesday. I did March/April last year and thought it was really fun. BTW, I hate juice and smoothie malfunctions. that always happens to me when I’m in a rush.

Oh no! I swear most of my clothes are covered in spit up these days…I can only imagine what my clothing will look like once Trey starts solids. Definitely not going to be wearing much white. Ha! 🙂

It looks like you had a blowout 🙂 Thanks for the morning smiles!

Hi Caitlin! Just a quick question about a blog feature that has been missing since the new design rolled out. Will the “older posts” button on the bottom of the home page be coming back? I miss it! 🙂
Love the new design though, and of course, the blog!

Its still there – right above the two little rectangle of the third and fourth post – it says Previous Post.

    Oh no!

I have always loved the idea of juicing and keep meaning to buy a juicer.

I just wanted to tell you that I tried out the shopping list idea and it was AMAZING. It was such a time saver to not have to sit down and make a list because I already had a master list. Wahoo!
