Spring Cleaning List

in All Posts

It’s Monday!  Let’s make it great.

We drove home from Tennessee last night, and I immediately went into hyperdrive cleaning mode. My mom’s house is so organized, and it inspired me to pull myself together, too.

Up first – all the junk drawers.  How many junk drawers do you have in your house?  This is slightly embarrassing, but I have FOUR. No one needs four junk drawers, seriously.  I love cleaning out my junk drawers because it’s so quick and easy yet so intensely satisfying.

I challenge you to complete just ONE item off my personal Spring Cleaning List tonight.  Heck – just start with your junk drawer!

Spring Cleaning List

My goal for tonight is to touch up the paint on all my baseboards.  That is no small task, but I think I can get it done pretty quickly if I buckle down.

(Vacuuming is so easy when you own a Neato – and I still owe you a post on our robot vacuum! But the short story is that I LOVE IT.)

Not into cleaning on a Monday? I can’t really blame you.  Here are some other ways to make your Monday wonderful…

i love the cleaning schedule. might need to implement something like this while packing up the house to avoid taking unnecessary items with us when we move!

My parents come to visit last night which inspired me to really clean our house well as my mom is like OCD neat!

The whole post put a smile on my face!! I can’t wait to do some spring cleaning, I always feel so much better!

The same thing happens to me when I go home to visit my parents. Their house is always so so clean and I always end up coming home and having an all out cleaning day on my home. Though I have to say now that I am moving in 2 months it is kind of hard to motivate myself to de-clutter because I know that a lot is going to be thrown out when we move.

I LOVE going for a quick walk during my lunch break! Although it’s back to freezing cold here in Chicago so that won’t be happening this week…

I did a month long declutter in our house and got everything organized and donated and then within a week (our families were in town), the house was destroyed. People threw stuff in my cupboards and now I feel like I need to do it all again!

I hope you don’t mind but can I ask where the blue rug is from? I’m looking for something similar for my living room. Thank you!

Along with unrollme…have you been to catalogchoice.org? You can unsubscribe from junk catalogs that you get in the mail.

I have one junk drawer in the kitchen which I find acceptable but here’s our issue…closets! We have 3 junk closets! Both hall closets (one upstairs and one downstairs) plus the closet in our guest bedroom. It is ridiculous and I hate it. But my problem is that after I clean them out within weeks they are full again. Why? Because I have the most junk hoarding husband on the planet. He totally owns up to it (which is at least nice) but it does not make for clean closets or a happy wife. 🙂

I used to have a few junk drawers and they were so full. But when we moved the husband banished the junk drawer, he absolutely despises junk drawers in a house. Now I only have one in the kitchen and it isn’t that much of a junk drawer. It is just a drawer that holds our manuals for appliances and a few spare batteries.

I might take a walk on my lunch break. I am feeling sluggish and slow today!!

We also need to touch up our trim badly! Let’s just put it this way…we painted our bedroom walls about three years ago and that’s when we had planned to do the trim. In our (slight) defense, the color was darker than we anticipated, so after doing three coats of the original color, we did three coats of a (only slightly) lighter coat. Yeah…
Good luck on your list! You’ve definitely inspired me to get my butt in gear a bit more. Not sure when we’ll find the time for all these little projects, but it’s there somewhere!

Your spring cleaning list is impressive! I thought I was pretty tidy, but I wouldn’t have every though of washing the curtains! You have covered it all and then some! I do mini-cleans daily, but I clearly have some deep cleaning to face. How to keep from feeling overwhelmed by a list that size?

    • Caitlin March 24, 2014, 2:50 pm

Just do it item by item over a period of time – I could never do this all in a weekend!

  • Emily March 24, 2014, 9:18 pm

Forever an OCD nerd, I put together a spring cleaning spreadsheet a few days ago with rooms, tasks, and schedule/due dates for all my various desired activities. However, I think I like planning better than I like doing the actual work. Of the 20-some items I have scheduled, I have completed exactly 1/3 of 1 item in the last week. Oh well, there’s always next year, right? 🙂

I love your other “amazing Monday” tips, they made me smile 🙂

  • Leah March 25, 2014, 5:52 pm

I have been doing some organizing and cleaning lately too. But at 38 weeks pregnant I do not have the energy to clean our home from top to bottom! No nesting here 🙂

  • Lys March 25, 2014, 7:20 pm

I totally did that whole paint touch up thing this weekend. It can become a bit obsessive because you want to fix every little mark – even those you’ve never noticed before.

    But YES totally gratifying!
