A tad heavy on triathlon and parenting pieces, but hey – that’s what I spend a lot of time thinking about.  Oh, and there’s a picture of a cat with a wiener face.  So there.  Now you have to read on!

Twitter recently introduced a tool that allows you to recall your first tweet.

Mine was “thinks this twitter thing is hard.”  That was on May 22, 2009.  Hah.  26,100 tweets later, I think I figured it out.  Follow me @CaitlinHTP for more deep gems.

Best The Onion article that I’ve read in a long time.  I laughed so hard.

What If The Best Years Of Your Life Just… Aren’t?  A great pick-me-up for struggling mommas.

The Overprotected Kid.  A really great long-form article about the cost of helicopter parenting.  I first read about this piece on NPR and it really resonated with me.

A Double Amputee Changes a Bike Tire.  This video is incredible! I have no excuses left.  I have to figure out how to excel at tire changing.

Almond Butter Chocolate Chips from The Paleo Mom.  In lieu of flour, this recipe uses almonds and walnuts. I want to try this recipe with 100% almonds.  Looks delicious!

The cat! Oh my gosh! I can’t stop laughing — or staring! I love anything relating to “Haters gonna hate!” and have so far cracked myself up with “Gators gonna gate!” the most. I came across the FUNNIEST one this week, though: “Slaters gonna slate!” with a picture of AC Slater. I died — and then showed it to everyone I know. (And, now that I’m describing it, it sounds SO dumb. I’m sorry.)

Great post! I love the Oxford Comma, and the Onion article. My husband and I met in Boulder, CO – and he had boxes full of the Onion we had to dispose of before moving…I reminded him they had a webpage. 😉 The idea of helicopter parenting resonates with me as well. I’ve recently finished a course in Simplicity Parenting. The book is pretty great – touching on helicopter parenting and the importance of unstructured play in young kids, among other things. Thanks for the post!

    Yes, Oxford comma FTW!

When I get bored or need a pick-me-up, I browse the Humor category on Pinterest. Usually I find at least one or two gems that crack me up.

THANK YOU for the Oxford comma pic! I feel like I am the last person on the planet using it! I heard “they” (publishing world) started to get rid of it to save space. I think I read this in Eats, Shoots, and Leaves.

So glad to see this post. You used to do one of these weekly or maybe monthly? where you listed interesting articles you’ve read on the internet
