Not this kind of swim…

This kind of swim.

Yesterday, I asked Henry if he wanted to go swimming.  This is how the conversation went:

Me: “Henry, do you want to go to the pool and swim like a fishy in the water?”

Henry: “No, dolphin in ocean.”

Me: “Oh, okay. Do you want to go to the pool and go swimming like a dolphin in the ocean?”

Henry: “No, like a fishy!”

Me: “Like a fishy?”

Henry: “Swimmin’ like DOLPHIN!”

Me: “A dolphin? Are you sure?”

Henry: “SWIMMIN’ LIKE FISHY WAHHHHHHHHHH!” {Tone: Get it right, momma!!!}

So we agreed to swim like both a dolphin AND a fishy, but first, he had to go to childcare so I could run.  Hello, Half Marathon in like two weeks.  Yikes.

I have so much PRIDE when I wear my Half Ironman shirt.  By far the most bad-ass shirt I will ever own.  You know, reflecting back on that race, I am SO GLAD that I did it.  Training was so challenging (way harder than the race, I thought!), but it’s so wonderful to have that accomplishment under my belt.  Even if I never do a 70.3 again, I will always be so happy with that race performance.  Good memories.

Here’s my track workout:

Here are more track workouts.

Here’s how far I got with my “plank to failure” attempt, which is basically do a plank until your abs collapse.  Think my body is accustomed to one minute planks?!

Afterwards, as promised, Henry and I swam like dolphins and fishys.   Henry took swimming lessons from the time he was 6 months to 13 months (or so? Can’t remember), but we stopped going in favor of a music class.  However, he seems to have retained all his swim knowledge and still really likes the pool.  I kept whispering in his ear, “You’re going to grow up to do triathlons with mommy, right?!”  Haha.

By the time we left, it was dark out.  But still warm – we had a 75 degree day yesterday!  I can hardly believe it snowed 10 inches last week.  Weather in the South is nutty.

A little salad and couch action to end the day…

Holy yum.  Sunflower seeds + arugula is my current obsession.

I like that last quote! For me it needs to read don’t ruin a good day by thinking about what is coming this weekend…ha! My inlaws are coming into town and our relationship is cordial at best. But I shouldn’t let that ruin my day today! On another note, I love hearing about Henry. I have a 4 month old son and it is so fun to see what my future holds!

love the quote at the end….
such a cute pictures of the shoes in the locker! swimming with my toddler is a lot of fun, but it’s such a pain to get everything we need ready. and during winter, we have to blow dry our hair…

That quote at the end was exactly what I needed to see today, thank you!

Also, I’m jealous of the Southern weather… this has been a very long winter and I’m ready for above-freezing temperatures!

Such a cute conversation with Henry!
We have wacky weather as well!
Love the thought of the day!

My advice is to NOT take my running advice, which is to lay on the sofa for three months prior to race in order to conserve every iota of energy. In theory, that works like a charm; however, in practice… not so much.

Yeah, swim like a fishy. What don’t you understand?

I was in NC yesterday with the Activewearusa team 🙂 The weather was AMAZING especially coming from Boston! Have a great weekend!

I’m obsessed with sunflower seeds in my salad right now! I have to have dried cranberries too. Then I top it off with a pomegrante vinegrette or italian dressing. Delicious.

Awww so adorable 🙂 Hope you all enjoyed your swim! I was pool running today so I don’t think I was really being like a fishy or a dolphin but I was in the water 🙂

I literally “lol’d” at the dialogue between you and Henry. Could he be any funnier/cuter? too cute!
