Last month, I talked a bit about the in’s and out’s of making big dietary changes, including the emotional component of a switch.

Changing your diet can be tough. Maybe you’re going paleo, vegan, gluten-free, or whole food. Maybe you’re doing it for health reasons, for ethical reasons, or because you just need to mix it up. Regardless of the how and why, dietary changes are challenging.

I listed out a few of my favorite tips and reminders for making changes with ease, like focusing on what you can have, not what you can’t. I also wrote that you should read tons of cookbooks and blogs to ‘re-learn’ how to cook.

So, in the spirit of discovering new and wonderful cooking blogs, here are four of my favorite gluten-free recipe blogs. I love looking through these blogs when I’m short on dinner inspiration.  Each of these blogs stands out from the crowd through beautiful photography and creative takes on classic dishes.

Gluten Free Girl

A well-written and beautifully photographed cooking and lifestyle blog, Gluten Free Girl is one of my favorites. Shauna has a tremendous summary of recipes that is organized by season and category, as well as numerous videos about cooking gluten-free. I really love her summary on what it’s like to go gluten-free. Oh, and the blog has given birth to three beautiful books.

Oh She Glows

While Angela isn’t gluten-free, many of her vegan recipes are, making Oh She Glows an awesome resource. I absolutely love her pumpkin pie recipe, as well as her date bars recipe. I really love her My Vegan Pantry post – I wish my pantry was that well organized (one day…).  Each of Angela’s recipes are easily searchable and clearly labeled by categories like gluten-free or soy-free. She also has a book coming out soon – I’m excited!

Tartelette

If you like to look at pretty food (who doesn’t?!) than you will love Tartlette. Helene’s blog features many gluten-free recipes, but what I love most about Tartlette is that she’s a professional photographer who wrote the book (literally) on food photography – it’s called Plate to Pixel. She used to be a pastry chef at a French restaurant, so her recipes are definitely a cut above.  If you’re looking for a fancy gluten-free dish to impress dinner guests… this is probably the blog!  Also – she has a (FREE!) e-book called Demystifying Macarons, if you’re interested in trying your hand at real French macarons.

Elana’s Pantry

I’m new to this blog but really excited about it. Elana’s recipes are organized by different food sensitives (paleo, dairy-free, and – of course – gluten-free). She has an awesome list of FAQs about ingredients and lifestyle suggestions.  She has three cookbooks, one of which is a New York Times best seller.

If you’re gluten-free, what’s your favorite resource for recipes?  Or if you have another special need (like paleo or vegan or soy-free), what blogs or cookbooks do you love?

I don’t have any specific dietary restrictions but I do love “Oh She Glows” because all of her recipes look soooooo good, and taste delicious too!

Thanks for the great resources. I’ve been wondering about your dairy intake– for awhile I know you were not eating cow’s milk dairy– and you’re back on it now (mmmmm cheese). I’m just interested in why you made the switch (was it related to pumping?) and if you have any thoughts about reintroduction of previously eliminated foods?

Hi there! Yes, I had to stop eating dairy because of Henry. When I ate dairy, he had blood in his stools. Fortunately, he doesn’t have issues anymore!! Thank goodness 🙂 I would just say to introduce it slowly… I have heard that, if you were vegan and now you want to eat meat, you should eat lighter proteins (like fish) before heavier ones like red meat, and you should make the switch over a couple of weeks or months. No experience with that though.

I thought the title said, “(going without nuts)” and thought, “why is she cutting nuts out of her diet?”

Ugh. Not enough sleep last night.

I am not gluten free but love learning about new recipes!

I love the gluten free on a shoestring blog, and I love each of her cookbooks too. The new bread book especially has been a lot of fun to read and bake out of, but her cookbooks are generally our first stop for any kind of gf baked good. I really missed baking from scratch after having to give up the gluten. I love Oh She Glows too, though!

I’m new to eating gluten free (about 2 months) and have been loving the blog Deliciously Ella. Everything I’ve made from her site has been amazing and it has really helped make my dietary transition pretty fun instead of painful.

I don’t have dietary restrictions, but I love many recipes off of the blog, With Style & Grace. She is gluten free – many great recipes! And oh she glows is another favorite go- to – will have to check out the others.

I’ve tried low-carb diet for a while. Changing diet is indeed quite difficult, but I feel quite good both physically and mentally (or even better than before). These websites are great and useful. Thank you for sharing!

Elana’s pantry is the BEST for GF baking recipes that are not full of gums and super refined flours. lots of almond and coconut flour, and the recipes are really well tested and taste good (not just “good considering it’s GF”).

Caitlin I have to say, for the past few months you’ve been churning out some quality blog posts. HTP was my very first blog find back in early 2010 and I still check in every day.

Most of my gluten-free recipes come from regular recipes that I adapt to gluten free. We love making enchiladas, and I just sub in the GF tortillas. Same thing with the incredible sauce and meatballs my husband makes. He’ll either use GF breadcrumbs or none at all. I am grateful that Paleo has taken off, because it means there are that many more recipes out there!

Thanks for sharing! I will definitely check these out so I don’t always have to adapt a recipe.

Thanks for the links! Heading over to check them all out now!

This is my favorite blog for GF recipes because all of them work and are amazingly delicious. I wish she updated her blog more often, though. Nobody knows they are eating something gluten free and I’m asked for the recipe often. I have her book Gluten Free Baking Classics too and it’s fantastic, the only one I need for GF baking. http://mygluten-freetable.com/my-books/

I have a bunch of yummy gluten free recipes on my website too! Check them out here http://www.outtolunchcreations.com/tag/gluten-free/

I have been reading Iowa Girl Eats for quite some time. She’s always had wonderful recipes, but was diagnosed with celiac disease after the birth of her baby. Her recipes are still delicious, and now gluten-free!
