Q&A

Haaaaappy Monday. Where did the weekend go?!

IMG_5842

A few personal questions…

1. How many countries/states/providences have you lived in?  Only one country but four cities in three states – Miami and Orlando in Florida, Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, and now Charlotte in North Carolina.  Florida wins for weather and races; North Carolina wins for quality of life.  Pittsburgh wins for snow.

2. What’s your favorite kind of drink? I really like gin and tonics with a lot of lime.

3. What song are you listening to right now? “Float On” by Modest Mouse

4.  Do does the last text message you received say?  “Are they microfiber?”

5. What are your nicknames?  Katie.  You may call me Katie. Smile I’d kind of like to return to this name full-time, actually. I only ‘become’ my proper name when I was 22.

6. What was the last TV show you watched?  Breaking Bad.

7. What do you need to get accomplished today?  A ton of end-of-year stuff for both of our businesses, like invoicing, taxes, and inventory. Fun times!

8.  Are you a cuddler?  I like to cuddle for approximately two minutes before I fall to sleep, but I cannot stand to touch anyone (furbaby or husband) while sleeping.

9.  Where did you get the shirt you are wearing right now?  It’s the race shirt from this open water swim.

10. How many pairs of shoes do you own?  Probably about ten but I only wear three.  I’m not really a shoe woman.

And here’s an eleventh question – What did you eat for breakfast?

IMG_0709

We had oatmeal. Smile

Henry still doesn’t like it.  I even tried fried bananas, which are really and truly the best thing ever!

My plan is to get to the gym and do THIS workout from Tina at Carrots n Cake.

carrotsncake workouts

She actually has a TON of awesome cardio workouts pinned to her boards on Pinterest.  I refer to her workouts a lot when I need something new to do. I’m really struggling to run outdoors because of the weather – I hate putting Henry in the stroller when it’s super cold.

Your turn – answer one of the questions above!

I have a lot of work to do on the blog today and then head to the gym after my husband gets out of a big test. It would be nice to get started on my Christmas shopping too!! 🙂

  • Suzy December 16, 2013, 11:24 am

Ooh I’ll have to try fried bananas in oatmeal. I love putting about a tablespoon of chocolate chips in my plain oatmeal and that’s it.

How many countries/states/providences have you lived in?
I lived in 2 countries, US and Canada.
I lived it 4 states: California, Arizona, New York and now North Carolina.

My husband and I kick ourselves for not running more in Arizona. Like Florida, it’s FLAT and sidewalks everywhere. Why are there no sidewalks in North Carolina??

The last TV show I watched was South Park.

  • Ashley @ Saving Money in your Twenties December 16, 2013, 12:24 pm

I’ve only lived in two states- VA and NY. I spent the first 24 years of my life in VA so I’m super excited I was able to escape to a new state this year!

The last TV show I watched was Ke$ha’s MTV show- I’m embarrassingly addicted! My BF and I are working our way through the past episodes and it’s amazing 🙂

  • Mary (A Merry Life) December 16, 2013, 12:26 pm

Where did you get the shirt you are wearing right now? – It’s my race shirt from the St. Jude Half Marathon… that didn’t happen the other weekend. Oh well, still love the shirt!

  • Mahealani @ Spending Time With Salad December 16, 2013, 1:19 pm

I’ll do #2. I’m a big Tang&Tonic kind of gal, extra lime too, but when it comes down to it I just love a good crisp beer. I love ales and stouts, and even a good lager with some salty food!

  • Joy December 16, 2013, 1:43 pm

Last TV show I watched: Survivor (season finale–SO GOOD!)

  • Elizabeth @ Positive Change December 16, 2013, 1:52 pm

So much fun! Is it weird that I love to read these types of posts? I swear I am not a stocker! :). The last show I watched was Scandal. All I have to say is OMG. I can’t believe he does not like the oatmeal when there is so much goodness in the bowl!

  • Michelle @ A Healthy Mrs December 16, 2013, 1:56 pm

    Mmmm I love a good G & T!

  • K @ Finding a Skinnier me December 16, 2013, 2:19 pm

What do you need to get accomplished today? Work of course, then I need to buy some ingredients for cooking baking/fudge making and I need to sit down to knit some more because Christmas is approaching so fast!!!!

  • Aerevyn December 16, 2013, 2:43 pm

I’ve lived in Ohio, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Japan. In one five year period I lived in five states, and I would have moments where I would be driving and have no idea where I was. Hah!

  • Cat December 16, 2013, 2:45 pm

Haha amazingly my answers are so similar to many of yours! (Snap on getting your official nickname at an older age – I was still Catherine til my early 20’s too!)

And I’m with you on G n T and Modest Mouse – that would make for a nice evening come to think of it…!

  • Rebecca December 16, 2013, 2:50 pm

Currently wearing the shirt I got in 2008 Chinese class! Memories… 🙂
I am going to bake gingerbread cookies this afternoon (maybe sugar cookies as well), and put dinner in the oven in a couple of hours. And then try to finish memorizing a thing for my final on Thursday.

  • Liana@RunToMunch December 16, 2013, 2:59 pm

I’ve lived in two cities two states, NYC & Boston. Boston wins for quality of life. NY wins for culture

  • Cara December 16, 2013, 3:02 pm

Have you tried a different method of making oatmeal? I can only eat oatmeal when it is made like Scottish Porridge. 3/4 cup oats, and 1 1/2 cups of water, and a pinch of sea salt. You put the stove on medium-sih (5-6) and then continuously stir until it becomes mush and a bit thickened. Stirring helps to release the starch. Pinch of salt at the end and top with honey/brown sugar/maple syrup, and I add in raisons. I tried for years to make and eat homemade oatmeal and found myself gagging (literally) at the texture. Maybe baby H has a texture issue with it 😉

    1. I have lived in Florida for most of my life, Georgia, Idaho, and North Carolina.
    2. My nickname is Goose, originally “gooseberry” but shortened from the fruit to a bird ha
    3. Once Upon a Time in Wonderland
    4. I have lots of work to do and then food shopping.
    5. I am a HUGE cuddlier until I fall asleep, then I migrate to the edge of the bed.
    6. I got my shirt from a sprint triathlon I did a while ago.
    7. For breakfast I had oatmeal mush with raisons and honey

  • Tricia December 16, 2013, 3:56 pm

Are you a cuddler? Noooo I *hate* it when I’m sleeping. Watching a movie on the couch? Sure, I can do that.

  • Cassie December 16, 2013, 4:14 pm

I had eggnog overnight oats for breakfast with banana and rasperries… yum!

  • Terri December 16, 2013, 4:23 pm

Have you tried Bob’s Redmill Scottish Oats? They cook up so creamy. Maybe Henry would like those better than just regular oats.

  • Eileen December 16, 2013, 4:26 pm

Ditto on Breaking Bad. I’ve lived in 4 states, 6 small towns within, and 1 city- Richmond VA. Only lasted 6 months in the city. Oh then I lived on a sailboat for 3 months, off the coast of VA and NC. Wow almost forgot about that chapter. Listening to rockin holiday on pandora.
Brekkie today was scrambled eggs, PB toast, and blueberries.
I started making oatmeal with milk instead of water to make it more delicious for my 18 mo old, he prefers it “wetter” than I do. Of course I eat it this way now too. I will definitely be trying fried bananas, brilliant idea for my too-ripe pile! Thanks!

  • Elisabeth December 16, 2013, 11:24 pm

    1. States/countries/provinces – I’ve only lived in the US. I lived in the same city in Ohio for most of the first 31 years of my life (except for 2 years living in a city 30 min away in the dorms during college) and now I’ve just moved to North Carolina last week! (Raleigh/Durham area)

    6. Last TV show – The Voice finale!

    10. Shoes – Hmmm…a lot! Probably about 30, mostly Birkenstocks, with a few Reefs, Keens & New Balance thrown in. I’m a shoe girl, but not in the heels/boots sort of way 😉

  • Heather @ Health, Happiness, and Hope December 17, 2013, 12:51 am

I’ve lived in Wisconsin and Texas – two complete opposites in just about every way haha! I love the weather in Texas and I live in a big city (Dallas) which is awesome, but I do miss the lakes, woods, walking/biking paths, etc that Wisconsin was known for! The culture and people are so different too. It’s an amazing experience to live in different parts of the country!

  • LauraZ December 17, 2013, 8:41 am

I love Gin and tonics this time of year. I add fresh cranberries as a garnish and it looks so pretty. OR tamales.

  • Casey December 17, 2013, 11:55 am

I’ve lived in 3 cities in Michigan: East Lansing, Farmington Hills & Kalamazoo, Columbus, GA, and Charlotte, N.C. Michigan wins for best food, college towns, and breweries. Charlotte wins for weather, scenery, and size. Columbus wins for hot army guys lol!

  • Erin December 18, 2013, 12:16 am

I am also watching Breaking Bad! Season 3… it is getting intense! 🙂

I have lived in 2 countries (Germany (West, technically, it was the 80s) and the US) and 5 states (Idaho, Oregon, California, Utah, Texas)

  • Lea December 18, 2013, 1:12 am
