Our Weekend

in All Posts

Oh yeahhhhh.  What a nice weekend.

Our weekend was filled with fun, food, and lots and lots of Christmas shopping. We normally do our shopping online, but this year, we decided to do it all in stores. I’m not sure why we felt compelled to do this… I had our doubts when we couldn’t find a parking spot at the mall after circling for ten minutes. But it was actually kind of fun.

Henry spent most of the mall trip reading a book (over and over again) in his stroller, which was pretty darn cute.

Let’s see… what else?

On Thursday, I swam 750 meters with a friend. It took us an hour because we kept taking talking breaks. Winking smile

We went on a long family walk on Friday – I think we covered 3 or 4 miles.

I ran a 5K on Saturday.

It was too damn cold to do anything outside on Sunday.

I baked some Oh She Glows 5 Ingredient No Bake Vegan Date Squares.  I *really* wanted to make pumpkin pie, but these bars are super easy to make and really delicious, so they won out.

We did our normal grocery shopping errand, too.  Here’s a pick of Henry pushing the mini cart around the store earlier in the week… It’s his new obsession.

I think he’s trying to say, “Let’s steal this thing and take it home!  Quick, run for the door!”

And I spent this morning with a bunch of beautiful horses.  But more on that later in the week!

I was digging through the archives for a recipe and I came across some oldies but goodies that I thought I’d share…

Even though the malls are always crazy I still love shopping at them during the season! Brings back many memories of childhood and just makes me think of Christmas! I loved your past posts! I have read them before but reading them again was pretty cool!

Looks like a fun weekend. I am a mix between going to shop in physical stores, and shopping on-line. If I don’t know what I am looking for, I like to go to stores and browse.

This year though, we are doing a lot of homemade gifts.

I don’t do much shopping online — not really sure why! It would certainly be easier, but I kinda like the hustle & bustle of the stores — it feels like Christmas 🙂

I am all about shopping online, but we did venture out to the mall this weekend too. We got there when it opened and the Santa line was about 3 hours long (no joke), so we vetoed that idea and have to find somewhere a little smaller.

Love the shopping cart pic! When my kids were little I bought them very inexpensive plastic shopping carts and just kept them in the back of my van. We pulled them out when we went to the grocery store and I had happy little shoppers right alongside of me. This was particularly useful when my youngest was still in an infant carrier and I put her in my grocery cart, taking up most of the space. The two older kids actually selected the groceries we found together and put them into their carts. They then got to load them onto the check out line by themselves. It was really fun for them and a huge help to me. They still talk about that as teenagers so that must be a fun memory for them too. 🙂

We are so behind on our Christmas shopping this year! I Don’t know if it is the weather or the short time between Thanksgiving and Christmas but we REALLY need to get on it!

I’m usually too nervous to do December races, but you lucked out with the weather! Which race did you do? Do you recommend it for a December race?

Henry with a cart, cuteness overload! And that food in the beginning looks so delicious and perfect for this yucky weather!

Henry is so stinkin’ cute. His personality shines in all the photos you share.

Our local Trader Joe’s has those little carts for kids. My boys love them. On our last visit, one of the cashiers noticed my son looking around for a cart, and told us they no longer have them. She said that all 12 of them had disappeared. Isn’t that crazy?! Not one, not two, but 12!!! Who does that?! Who steals a cart from Trader Joe’s?! Crazy people! 🙂

Love Angela’s date bars! Good call! Henry has gotten so big! He looks so grown up!
