Did I mention that we bought a robot vacuum?

41l ZAwPgpL

IT’S A ROBOT. IT’S A VACUUM. IT CLEANS YOUR FLOORS AUTOMATICALLY.  I’m pretty sure that baby can’t entirely replace real vacuums but I’m hoping this one comes pretty darn close.  With a toddler and two dogs – I spend a lot of time vacuuming… I’m over it.

Amazon says it should be here in two or three days. I literally cannot stop myself from compulsively checking the tracking info.  And I realize that 85% of you are thinking, “What the hell? Are you seriously this excited over a vacuum?” and the answer is YES. Yes, I am.

I am hoping that it lives up to my expectations, which may be hard considering that I have dreamed about this damn thing every night since I ordered it. Winking smile If loving a robot vacuum is wrong, I don’t want to be right.

Anyway…

I did this workout at the gym this morning.  It was epic.

I should probably integrate more intervals into my workouts since I will no longer be vacuuming all the time, huh? Winking smile

If you could have a robot do any of your chores, which would it be and why?

I want a robot made like in The Jettsons! Meet George Jettson…
I just need someone to follow me around and pick up after me. I’m so messy!

  • Mandy @ Eat Pray Grow December 10, 2013, 5:24 pm

DJ Roomba! It had better play music while it vacuums 😉

  • Elizabeth @ Positive Change December 10, 2013, 5:32 pm

Jealous !I have been wanting one forever! I think this is such a great idea and if I had this robot I would be set! I am not a fan of vacuuming!

I have a neato! I don’t have to vacuum nearly as often as I used to, but it’s not the miracle I thought it would be. It gets stuck really easily on things. And mine keeps having a “battery error” which requires it to restart. If it gets stuck when I’m not home, then I discover it hours later and it only vacuumed a small area. You don’t really want to run it while you’re home because it’s so loud. Also, my 15 mo son is terrified of it. And it has a really small filter/waste bin. With our black lab shedding everywhere, we have to empty it about halfway through our living room.

I once saw this public restroom that you had to pay like 50 cents to use, but after each person, it would seal the door and hose itself off with water jets built into the walls. I guess it had a powerful fan to dry everything off? Anyway, I’d like for my own bathroom to work this way so I’d never have to clean it myself again.

Also, follow up with a review of the robot vacuum! I’m about to adopt two cats and I’m mentally preparing myself for the amount of dustbusting I’m going to do!

  • Jamie December 10, 2013, 6:02 pm

I will be anxiously awaiting your review on the Neato. Can’t wait to hear what you think.

I wish I had a robot to do my dishes. I have a dishwasher but I want something to load, unload and start the dishwasher, lol!

  • Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat December 10, 2013, 6:44 pm

OMG I want one of these so bad! The one I was looking at is called the Scooba 390 and it vacuums, scrubs, mops… everything! It’s expensive, but when I think of all the time it would save me, I suppose it’s totally worth it! Gosh, you know you’re an adult when there’s a robot vacuum on your Christmas list, hey? 😉

I hate everything about doing laundry. If I could not have to switch the load, take it out and fold/hang the clothes that’d be greeeeeeaaaaaat.

  • Sara @ LovingOnTheRun December 10, 2013, 7:19 pm

My brother and his wife have one of these and love it! I have 2 cats and a dog and I know how it is to vacuum all the time! I am not sure how they would respond to it though, because I think it would scar them for life! They don’t like things that move lol

I love intervals! They are great to make the workouts go quicker! In fact I am get ready to figure out a interval workout for my spinning tomorrow!

  • Janelle December 10, 2013, 7:48 pm

I want a Rosie to do my dishes! Worst chore everrr.

Also just wanted to say that I love your blog, your personality, and your positivity. I’m so glad you’ve found a way to blog more again and fill your readers’ days with such good energy. Thank you for being you and sharing your life with us! I read every single post!

  • Michelle @ A Healthy Mrs December 10, 2013, 9:02 pm

Ooooh, I can’t wait to hear what you think of the vacuum! I’ve been wondering if they’re any good 🙂

  • Holly December 10, 2013, 9:15 pm

Doing laundry is THE WORST in my opinion. I would love to have a robot take care of that for me. But when it was done I would have to lock it away because since finishing The Circle, all technology scares me 🙂

  • NC December 10, 2013, 10:14 pm

I have the Neato , It is awesome !!!

  • Kathy December 10, 2013, 10:45 pm

My robot would clean the baseboards, change the duvet cover (which is just big and cumbersome and button-y!) and iron clothes

  • Elisabeth December 11, 2013, 1:00 am

I need a robot to clean my shower & unload the dishwasher! I don’t mind loading it, but I HATE unloading it.

  • Sara December 11, 2013, 8:27 am

I just don’t vacuum often–is that bad?! Ha ha.

  • KB December 11, 2013, 8:39 am

I have a roomba and love it. We buy all of our furniture after asking, Can the roomba go under this?
I’m not sure how it compares to the neato but ours is great on our hardwoods and my favorite is using it in the bedroom because it gets all the dust bunnies under the bed. They can be temperamental and I’ve occasionally wanted to smash mine but really I love it…here a few tips if you are interested.
Empty and clean the brushes after EVERY time. We have no pets but I shed like a dog and my hair is all in this thing!
Buy some canned air and blow out the crevices after heavy use.
If you have a lot of combo rooms (living, kitchen, dining) it is best to divide them up. Mine came with some sensors that can do this but most of the time I just over turn a chair to make a barrier. =) Hope those tips help!
I run mine in different room every night and I don’t spend any additional time sweeping or vacuuming except in the kitchen. Hope you love it!

  • Ali December 11, 2013, 9:28 am

I’m really curious if this thing works well! You have to review it. I would love for a robot to do fold laundry.

  • Jennifer December 11, 2013, 9:41 am

I LOVE my roomba! I think it is the best thing ever. You just have to pick up everything first. But even my 3 year old knows we don’t leave the house till we turn Mr. Roomba on!

  • Judy E. December 11, 2013, 10:16 am

You will LOVE it! The dogs may play with it. James will dance around it. You and Kristien wil stand and watch it do your work and giggle.
P.S. It’s most fun in the kitchen.
Now you should consider getting a trash can that opens when you walk up to it. — Can’t live without it.

  • Laura December 11, 2013, 10:41 am

We had to quit vacuuming our hardwoods floors as our Dyson Slim Vac (which is advertised for use on hardwoods) scratched up our floors really bad. We couldn’t figure it out at first and then realized it was the vacuum causing it. So peeved. We have a dog with light brown hair which contrasts with our dark hardwoods. It drives me crazy to not be able to vacuum anymore. Now we use swiffers, etc but they don’t work as well. Have you had issues with scratches on your floor when vacuuming? I would love a robot vacuum for quick clean ups of dog hair if it wouldn’t scratch the floors!

    • Caitlin December 11, 2013, 12:20 pm

I don’t think we have had this problem – but my hardwoods are lighter and its hard to see scratches.

  • Natalie @ Free Range Human December 11, 2013, 11:40 am

Oh, I am so excited to hear how the robot works. I absolutely hate to vacuum!! It’s my least favorite chore-I would rather clean the bathroom!

  • Nancy December 12, 2013, 4:13 pm

I love your interval workout! i did it today and at #2, I wanted to quit – but I told myself only one more to go and it worked! I made it a little longer with a 1/2mile warm up on the treadmill, but sweating buckets at the end of the stairs! Love to see more of these! Please!

    • Caitlin December 12, 2013, 4:52 pm

      Awesome!! Way to go!

  • susanna December 12, 2013, 10:04 pm

I bought a Roomba in 2009 after I bought my house and I adore her. I run her once a week and it keeps my floors looking decent all week. Sure, she was not cheap, but for an appliance that runs every day, she is quire resilient. I am a clean freak and, as silly as it sounds, having the roomba clean while I am gone gives me such a sense of peace when I come home and I see that the cat hair is gone!

We have Vileda vacuum robot. We love it, it goes under beds and other furniture and does a good job…buuut it is not a total replacement for a vacuum cleaner, since it does not have a vacuum, but brushes only, so it collects only a big dust. I would say, after 4 uses of the robot, you have to do one tour of vacuuming by yourself.
Our is a cheap version (120 euros), so it does not have a map and it works randomly. This means that it takes a while and some places are better covered than another. I strongly recommend getting the one with the map.
Also, you have to be careful about the cords in the house (our speaker ended up on a floor once), random under bed socks and long haired carpets (we got rid of ours). And, as someone said, don’t leave it home alone 🙂

  • Amy December 13, 2013, 6:36 am

Please post a review after you have used the vacuum for a while. I would be very interested if it works well ( 1 dog, 2 cats, 2 crawlers). Thank you!

  • Axel (@apkussma) December 13, 2013, 3:37 pm

I’ve been fantasizing about a Roomba (or equivalent robo-vacuum) for some time. What I wouldn’t be looking forward to is having to program it… it’s not that I’m up to the technical challenge, I just don’t seem to find the time for these sorts of things; when I’m in front of my home PC, it should be for blogging!

  • Michelle December 13, 2013, 8:17 pm

My parents bought us a Roomba last year for xmas and with 2 pussy cats and a toddler we love our “Rosie” who cleans up crumbs after toddlers.
