New Favorite Snack

in All Posts

Creamy, crunchy, sweet, salty… chocolately.  Everything I want in a snack.  Or, um, a breakfast.

The ingredients:

Vanilla Greek Yogurt

Blueberries

Dark Chocolate

Raw Oats

Roasted Salted Almonds

All together in my OBol…  Which, by the way, is a genius invention (when you eat cereal, you put the milk on the left and the cereal on the right to keep it from getting soggy).

Something worth waking up for, right?!

And…

I hope you have a delicious day!

That looks like a great combo! The more blueberries and chocolate in my life, the better

  • Emily @ The Good Era August 7, 2013, 9:10 am

I’ve been eating this almost same breakfast for weeks, minus the chocolate! Clearly, I need to add that in 🙂 Trader Joe’s vanilla greek yogurt is my favorite.

What a delicious snack! Love this idea. And that bowl… NEED!

  • Megan (The Lyons' Share) August 7, 2013, 9:29 am

I do oats, yogurt, and blueberries all the time (including right at the moment!), and I’m totally with you on the salted almonds – makes a big difference in flavor! I’m all about chocolate in general, but I’m not sure about so early in the morning! I’d prefer to double up my dose later on :).

  • sara @ fitcupcaker August 7, 2013, 9:29 am

    I need that bowl!

  • Kristen @ Medium Roast August 7, 2013, 9:30 am

Mmm, I haven’t had breakfast yet today and I think I might just have to head to the kitchen to put this together right now. Neat bowl, too!

  • meredith August 7, 2013, 9:31 am

This is soooo something I would eat, and already eat actually!

  • Melissa August 7, 2013, 9:37 am

Looks great and what a neat bowl! I like how all of the ingredients have their own little place!

  • Laura August 7, 2013, 9:37 am

I JUST bought that vanilla TJ’s greek yogurt. It is the best greek yogurt I’ve ever tried! I am not a yogurt fan at all, but I could use the protein. Maybe if I add dark chocolate, too….thanks for the idea!

  • Ashlee@HisnHers August 7, 2013, 9:52 am

Oh wow that is genius! I get so mad every time I see a delicious recipe with almonds because I cant eat them! Grrr!

  • Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries August 7, 2013, 9:57 am

Oh man, I’m all over this snack! I’d love the sweet/salty combo with the extra crunch!

  • Krissy August 7, 2013, 10:02 am

I eat that kind of thing morning, day and LATE night (only in like triple-size portions…no control ). Wish I actually exercised like you to make it a bit more better, but oh well, flaws prevail!!
Seriously though…dark chocolate? I eat like 2 of those 100 gram bars per week. I feel so different than others !

  • Marla August 7, 2013, 10:09 am

That looks yummy! Can I ask why you eat your oats uncooked? I had never seen that before your blog. Do they taste any different?

  • Sarah @ Yogi in Action August 7, 2013, 10:33 am

I use to be obsessed with blueberries, chocolate chips and vanilla greek yogurt. I had to stop buying those three ingredients together because I wouldn’t stop eating until I ran out of one of the ingredients. I never added any oatmeal though….

Maybe it’s time to dig up an old snack 🙂

  • susan August 7, 2013, 10:50 am

    Looks great!

  • Lauren @ The Highlands Life August 7, 2013, 11:10 am

I love that bowl! Where is it from?

  • Alexa August 7, 2013, 11:49 am

Raw oats scare me, are they really not too bland tasting when they’re not heated up?!

  • Miranda @ Miranda Runs August 7, 2013, 12:00 pm

That actually sounds really, really good!

  • Sara @ Zero to Sixty August 7, 2013, 12:19 pm

Yum!! this looks amazing! I do something kind of similar for my desk breakfast everyday. Fage Greek 2% Yogurt Plain, Blackberries, and Granola. Seriously after I run and the commute to work this breakfast is like a god send! Adding chocolate to it would make it even better!

    Sara 🙂

  • Sara @ LovingOnTheRun August 7, 2013, 1:51 pm

This looks like an amazing start to the day! I don’t know about the raw oats part but hey I will try anything once! 🙂 Enjoy your Wednesday!

  • Taylor August 7, 2013, 2:12 pm

Chocolate in the morning = winning

  • Julie @ RDelicious Kitchen August 7, 2013, 4:16 pm

that reminds me of a homemade version of those chobani flips

  • Dannii @ Hungry Healthy Happy August 7, 2013, 4:29 pm

I can’t get enough of blueberries at the moment!

  • Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat August 7, 2013, 6:54 pm

Ooh I love this! One of my (very simple) faves at the moment is just plain greek yogurt mixed with cinnamon and a pinch of stevia. Ok, a lot of cinnamon. Simple things please simple minds! 🙂

  • Amber K August 7, 2013, 8:24 pm

Very cool bowl. I hate soggy food!

  • Molly @ RDexposed August 8, 2013, 8:12 am

That bowl is genius! The thought of soggy cereal freaks me out too much still to even trial it though.

  • Meagan August 8, 2013, 9:27 pm

I love the bowl!! What size did you get? Apparently there is a 7″ and 8″

    • Caitlin August 9, 2013, 6:16 am

      i think its a 8 inch. it’s big!

  • Emily August 9, 2013, 12:06 am

Instead of telling your little guy what not to do you might try telling him what you want him to do instead, for example, instead of saying “no hitting” say “soft touches” or “nice hands” or something like that, then you aren’t unintentionally reinforcing the behavior or having to make so many negative comments.

Love chocolate in my breakfast – the perfect sweetness for a happy tummy and heart. YUM!
    Great combo!
