One of today’s meals:

It was a delicious meal!

I used to be a pretty dedicated daily food blogger.  I blogged nearly every bit of food that passed my lips for a few years – it sounds annoying and tedious, but it was actually pretty fun.  And it’s such a neat way to see how a person lives.  You can tell a lot about a person’s life by the food they eat, after all.  I dropped daily food blogging when we started trying to get pregnant; I just knew it would be hard to hide a pregnancy when posting everything I eat (hmmm bagel-bagel-ginger ale-bagel – I wonder what’s up?!).  And then I never got back into the habit.

I am such. a. boring. eater. now.  I said this in this morning’s post, but so many of my meals are repetitive.  It’s easier with Henry if I simply repeat healthy meals with only a few variations.  So – that being said, here’s what I ate today.

Eggs and soy chorizo, toast, strawberries, coffee

A peanut butter and jam sandwich, almonds, half an apple (it was squishy – gross)

Peppermint Bark Chex Mix

A salad with homemade bean dip sandwich (I combined sundried tomatoes, white beans, and a little coconut oil in the food processor – easy peasy)

I’m left wondering what the heck to make for dinner.  It probably shouldn’t involve toast (already had six slices today; nothing wrong with toast but damn – so reptitive…) and should probably include a fruit and a vegetable.  At least one vegetable!  I must admit that I was definitely a healthier eater when I documented everything for the blog.  I truly love eating healthy foods, but there’s nothing like putting it all out there on the Internet to motivate you to make the best choices possible.

This is my way of convincing myself to eat a healthy dinner, can’t you tell?  Winking smile

What else did we do today?  Well, we went to the children’s museum with my friend Heather and Henry’s future wife, Mirabelle.

The babies were looking at themselves in the mirror.  Narcissists.

And then I headed to the office for a few meetings.  Good times.

I’m a fairly boring eater in general. A creature of habit that really only changes things up come dinner time and even then, it’s usually the same for a few days. I don’t think I could be more than a weekly food blogger. All my readers would be bored out of their mind. 😉

I ate an amazing piece of cheesecake from a cafe in NYC while sipping tea in the afternoon. I’m posting it in my WIAW post in the morning. It was DIVINE! Your salad was just a taddd bit healthier 🙂

Are all the vitamins vegan or is there an easy way to tell which ones are?

    • Caitlin December 12, 2012, 8:38 am

“The babies were looking at themselves in the mirror. Narcissists. ” (expletive) I think you’re hilarious. And I’m genuinely not being sarcastic!

OMG, that onesie that Henry is wearing in the pic with his girlfriend is too cute. Such a dapper young man! Where did you find it?

I definitely repeat meals on the regular… especially during work hours. I eat a piece of fruit, a salad or carrots and peppers with hummus, and some lunch meat basically every day… unless I’m blessed with leftovers!

You know what they say… K.I.S.S. (keep it simple stupid… I mean student haha)

That bean dip looks great! And I’ve been known to eat 4-6 slices of toast in a day…it happens.

I post what I eat every day, although I live in a residence hall and dining services is very picky about cameras in the dining halls, so I only photograph what I eat in my room. When I’m home for breaks I try to photograph everything!

I’m definitely a creature of habit when it comes to food, and I don’t even have a baby to use as an excuse! I think we all get into routines, and I tend to not get tired of foods like a lot of people do so it works for me!

I have been loving satsumas lately… They must be in season, because they are fairly cheap! They are like a little orange that peels SUPER EASY and doesn’t have seeds. So yummy!

I am an embarrassment. I eat the SAME thing EVERY day except dinner. So when Zach wakes up I have my one amaaaazing cup of coffee (I miss my multiple coffee days but w breastfeeding I try not to). Then when he goes down to nap I have my breakfast; a cereal “salad” with one serving of cascadian farms wheat squares and one serving of their cinnamon crunch amazingness. Then I have a pb and j sammie on vermont whole wheat with a few natural lays chips. (my favorite meal of the day) then afternoon snack some fruit and maybe pretzels or a cookie (or three). then for dinner a protein carb and veg. boooooring hahaha! i find it easier with my 8 month old as well! Congrats on the website! looks fantastic!

I can’t help but eat almost the same thing every day. I’ve been eating either a sandwich or a huge salad for dinner since summer. I can’t help it because they taste so good! I tend to find something I like to eat and eat it for a long time and then move on to something else that I eat for a long time. Boring? Maybe. But satisfying to me.

I think your meals always look delicious and so balanced!

  • Tabitha December 12, 2012, 11:05 am

I love your toast that you eat! It always look so delicious!! What kind is it?!

    • Caitlin December 12, 2012, 12:33 pm

I love the picture of the babies looking at themselves in the mirror! Adorable.

I find I get really sick of eating the same thing really quickly, so I will rarely repeat a meal more than once a month. But I also don’t have children- so that affords me some extra time!

  • Samantha December 12, 2012, 11:39 am

I LOVE the shirt Henry is wearing!! So cute!

    • Jun December 13, 2012, 3:12 am

Best thing I ate was an absolutely *perfect* grapefruit at breakfast. Sweet and so so juicy. YUM.

Also, this is unrelated, but have you seem this (somewhat old) TIME Magazine photo essay called “What the World Eats”? It shows families from all over the world sitting next to their weekly grocery haul. Totally fascinating. http://www.time.com/time/photogallery/0,29307,1626519,00.html

  • Theodora December 12, 2012, 12:16 pm

Oh I definitely ate healthier (and spent less on food out) when I took pics of everything I ate…until I got bored of it.

  • Amber K December 12, 2012, 8:05 pm

It’s so stinking adorable to watch a baby or small kid make faces at themselves in the mirror.

  • Mandi December 13, 2012, 8:32 am

    Henry’s shirt is awesome!
