Hot Bar, Crazy Babies

in All Posts

Good afternoon.  How goes it?

Thursdays are always one of my best days of the week because I meet up with my mom’s group – it’s nice to see my friends.  Our meet-up today was at Whole Foods.

That meant I got to hit up the hot bar (for the second day in a row… whoops.  Sorry, wallet).  Do you ever feel so overwhelmed by all the awesome choices at a hot bar that you just freak out and throw random stuff into the box?  And then you’re done and you’re like, “I didn’t even get anything special!”  Yeah.  That’s totally me.

Salad

Brown Rice

Beans

Tofu

Baby craziness ensued.  There were eight babies or toddlers at one point – AKA pure insanity.  Some are walking, some are crawling, some are still in their momma’s arms.  But everyone knows how to scream.  Very, very loudly.  Hah.  It made me really, really, really respect daycare providers.

Why You’re Never Failing

A bit of a mom-centric post (actually, it’s been a mom-centric past few days – I’ll try to mix it up soon!), but I really wanted to share this post from the Pregnant Chicken.  It’s called “Why You’re Never Failing As a Mother,” and it’s definitely a worthwhile read. Actually, it’s probably a great post for everyone who ever feels like they aren’t doing ‘enough,’ no matter what your child status.

omg I ALWAYS get overwhelmed at the hot bar. It sucks! I just end up getting a bit of everything and then it all mixes together in the box. Fail. lol

I saw Amy’s post and LOVED it! It’s so true. As a mother now, it seems you can never do enough or be good enough. There’s always something bigger and better. With the Holidays, I’ve noticed the craziness the extent some people go through to buy outrageous amounts of presents for their kids. Why?

Looks like a really nice Whole Foods 🙂

This is a great article! I don’t have children but I want to store this away somewhere so I can read it one day in the future!

I love that you have “Where the Sidewalk Ends” on your bookshelf. That’s always my favorite book and I can’t wait to read it to my kids someday

Fun! How did you find your mom’s group?? I’m interested because after we have our baby in April, I’d REALLY like to find a mom’s group so I don’t go bonkers at home and can get out with other moms from time to time.

It’s all friends that I already had. Maybe try putting up a flyer up at your GYm?

I can only imagine the madness that ensued in Whole Foods but it’s always good to see friends! 🙂

I worked in the nursery at a church during their summer camp program, it. was. overwhelming. It was pure insanity. We had babies, we had toddlers, and they were mostly boys. Mad respect for daycare workers.

I am in awe of my daycare provider every day. She gets my son (who is now 3 1/2) to things I could never get him to do. Like eat eggs for breakfast, take a nap everyday and sit still during storytime at the library. I get overwhelmed when I have to take two kids to the store and she manages to take 5 kids to the library and park every week!

Oh the beloved hot bar…. words cannot express how much I love it (and Whole Foods in general!) Lately I’ve been traveling quite a bit for work and it’s always fun to go to WF in different cities to see how the menus change. Sounds like an awesome mom’s meet-up!

I’ve only ever tried that hot bar once but I can see how easy it is to get overwhelmed….so many choices!

I used to work in a daycare, and yes – we absolutely deserve respect. :-p I miss it though, the babies and toddlers were adorable (albeit sometimes loud and messy) to work with!

I volunteer every week at the child care in my church. I used to work there (mostly in the 2-year-old room). It definitely takes a certain type of person to deal with multiple children who need different types of care…all at once!

Thanks for the blog roll and the link to Amy’s article on the HuffPo. It helps to know there are other moms feeling overwhelmed sometimes. I just started reading your blog a little while ago, and realized that I had my first baby a few days before Henry (June 8). Many of your blogs (especially the sleep stuff) have been really helpful, and I just wanted to say Thanks! Have a great holiday!!

Hey Caitlin — where did you get those book shelf holders on the wall?

    • Caitlin December 14, 2012, 12:53 pm

IKEA but that are for pictures 🙂
