The Three Mile Tour

Rise and shine.

I went on a lovely three-mile tour of my neighborhood today. The streets are littered with dropped (or rejected?!) mini candy bars.  Happy 1st Day of November!

A little fact about little old me:  Since we were discussing running behind garbage trucks yesterday, wanna know my most hated smell ever?  You know when you open a bag of spinach and some of the leaves are all wet and melty because they are going off?  That smell kills me.  Worst smell ever.  Give me a garbage truck any day.

Hard-boiled eggs, toast, melon.  No wilty spinach allowed.

I have such a fun day planned!  Better hop to it.

worst smell ever? The spoiled egg I cracked open – couldn’t break an egg for a month!

  • Rebecca November 1, 2012, 10:03 am

Ack!!! I HATE the smell of the gooey melty spinach too. Blech!

I hate when one of those leaves makes it into your bowl of salad and you crunch on it. Worst smell and icky taste ever. ICK!

I completely agree about wilty spinach–I’d rather smell the inside of a hockey glove. I think it’s because your body or your brain knows that that is something you would otherwise eat. Unlike hockey gloves, I’m assuming:-)

I am with you on that terrible spinach smell!

However, I think the worst smell ever is shrimp shells- a couple of days after being in the garbage. It will stink up the entire house! I plan when I’ll have shrimp around when the garbage day is just to avoid that smell!

I totally agree with you about the spinach! I noticed a bunch of candy trash on my way to work this morning. That annoys me!

That b-fast looks yummy! Funny how something as simple as bread and eggs and clook so appetizing on the blog!

I have a terrible spinach story….. I went to a Saladworks (do they have these down south?) and ordered a salad with spinach as my base and when i took my salad home and took a bite the spinach was all the rotten wilty stink kind!!!!…. so worse than smelling it? EATING IT! can never eat there again.

My mom puts a paper towel in the bottom of her spinach bag, it makes it last longer by soaking up any excess moisture!

      Awesome! Thx for the tip!

I just got a salad from the office cafeteria with the most pitiful spinach and greens ever. killing me.

  • Stephanie @ Food and Fitness 4 Real November 1, 2012, 12:19 pm

I have to disagree. The worst smell ever is when I find an old discarded sippy cup of milk under the couch or in the back of the car. The smell of warm, curdled milk is DISGUSTING! I now make my husband open all questionable sippy cups over the sink (because his sense of smell is not as delicate as mine) and immediately wash them out with hot, soapy water. Ugh.

Oooh sounds exciting! PS. I just flew through Charlotte to get to Columbia and was thinking about you! You guys have some amazing weather here…. being up in Ontario, we haven’t seen sunshine in over a week!!

  • kristina November 1, 2012, 12:27 pm

I thought I was the only one who hated spinach in that form…I literally was walking around my kitchen a few days ago dry heaving and gaging because I found that my spinach had basically turned over night and I had to TRY to deal with it (read: I almost started crying and just ended up throwing it all out because I couldn’t deal), hahahha. Rotten veggies are by far my worst enemy!

  • Ashlee November 1, 2012, 12:56 pm

lol! I thought I was the only one. That smell IS the worst!

  • Annette@FitnessPerks November 1, 2012, 1:00 pm

I hate that smell too! Ugh.

  • Julie November 1, 2012, 1:24 pm

Oh, I agree! But even worse: when I trim the fat off of my chicken breasts & then throw it in the garbage (wrapped tightly in the packaging, mind you) & the next day I go to throw something in the garbage, & this hideous rotten smell of death permeates the whole house immediately! 🙁

  • kim November 1, 2012, 2:12 pm

I HATE that smell too!!!! ugh

  • Jillian B. November 1, 2012, 3:15 pm

Oh dear! Slimy spinach is terrible. It made me stop buying it for a while.

  • Katie @ Talk Less, Say More November 1, 2012, 5:32 pm

I really need to hard boil more eggs…thanks for the reminder. 😉

  • Megan @ MegGoesNomNom November 1, 2012, 9:52 pm

Oh I couldn’t agree more! Wilty spinach is horrendous. Just one one spoiled bite ruins the whole salad!

  • Carrie @ The Cook's Palette November 2, 2012, 1:14 am

I am laughing so hard because this is so, so true. Also horrible: canned beans that you have saved in tupperware for too many days in the fridge. Once you take the lid off, dear lord…

  • Tamicka November 2, 2012, 2:09 pm

Ok I got you all beat. My parents live kinda in the country and there’s a pond that is oh a mile or so away and every summer they turn the pond over and it’s like hot stench of rotting/rotten everything you can imagine. So gross
