The Perfect Running Jam

in All Posts

Good morning.

Same old breakfast, different day.  Still tasty though.

Eggs, Soy Chorizo (from Trader Joe’s), tomatoes, and fried polenta.  Yum.  Oh, and a huge cup of the TJ’s Christmas blend coffee.

Run, Run, Run

Guess who is Women’s Running magazine’s new Blogger on the Run?  Meeeeee.  Check out the post, in which I answer burning questions like what type of my run is my favorite (hint: short and lazy ones) and what is my favorite race memory (hint: it involves almost being eaten by an alligator… kind of).  If you leave a comment on their post, you’ll be entered to win a free subscription to their magazine.

And additionally, Women’s Running is offering HTP readers a special discount on a year’s subscription to their magazine – $5 of.  That’s 10 issues for $14.95.  Wahoo!

Speaking of running, what is your current favorite running jam?  I’m really loving this Flux Pavilion song – “I Can’t Stop” – although I have to laugh because the one and only lyric is – you guessed it – “I can’t stop” over and over again.

See?  Perfect running song.  I can’t stop…. I can’t stop… I can’t stop…

    • Caitlin November 16, 2012, 9:30 am

Congrats on the feature! That’s awesome! Florence and the Machine get’s my legs going every time! When I hear them now…I HAVE to run!

  • Jayce November 16, 2012, 9:41 am

Congrats! I like to run to “Bringing Sexy Back” lol.

Totally unrelated: My 5-month-old almost rolled off his boppy newborn lounger this morning!! We only use it on the kitchen floor while cooking/eating. The last few days he’s been doing “crunches” trying to sit up, then this morning I barely caught him about to roll off. Be careful! Ugh, not ready for mobility.

    • Caitlin November 16, 2012, 9:48 am

      haha me neither.

yeah we retired the boppy almost entirely a few weeks ago. sometimes i still use it to feed him a bottle but no longer can i just put him it in. henry is two seconds away from crawling.

I’ll have to add that song to my running playlist. I ran at the gym on the treadmill yesterday and seriously had to keep myself from singing along to some of the songs like I do when I’m running outside. And refrain from the occasional dance move, lol!

Congrats on the feature in Women’s Running! I don’t subscribe to that magazine, I’ll have to check it out.

Congrats on becoming Women’s Running magazine’s newest blogger on the run! And thanks for the music rec. My iTunes needs some new jams. 🙂

Congrats on the Women’s Running magazine news! That’s awesome! I’m currently in the market for some new running tunes; my go-to playlist has a lot of Pitbull, Kayne West, and other hip-hop/rap songs, which is funny because I never listen to that genre except when I’m working out. 🙂

    • Sarah Anne November 16, 2012, 12:26 pm

I’m totally with you on the hip hop/rap! Pit bull is the BEST for running/fitness. He just gets me moving. Also, unfortunately – Kes$ha.

      • Sharon November 16, 2012, 6:37 pm

I am also a closet Ke$ha fan when it comes to running. Shhh…

  • Sarah @ Yogi in Action November 16, 2012, 10:20 am

I will definitely be listening to that song on repeat today…to remind myself to not stop working so I don’t have to work the weekend! Very motivational.

    Congrats on the magazine!

  • KatieTX November 16, 2012, 10:23 am

    1. I love Pippa.

    2. I love that song. I play it in indoor cycle class and force my students to do sprint repeats.

  • Reenie November 16, 2012, 10:26 am

    Congrats on the article.

  • Krisha November 16, 2012, 10:28 am

  • Samantha Angela November 16, 2012, 10:40 am

    Congrats on the magazine feature!

  • Katie @ Peace Love & Oats November 16, 2012, 11:05 am

Congrats on being featured! I actually didn’t know there was a women’s running magazine, the only running magazine I know of is Runners World. Clearly I need to get out more!

  • Amanda K. November 16, 2012, 11:25 am

    congrats on the feature!
i started running in high school and we weren’t allowed to listen to music while running. ever since then i’ve been a hardcore running purist — no music ever.

  • colleen November 16, 2012, 11:29 am

Congrats on the feature! They clearly know a great blogger to have in their magazine.

  • Andrea November 16, 2012, 11:39 am

I am such a nerd. That picture of Pippa just made me so happy!

    Congrats on the running gig!

  • Laura November 16, 2012, 12:41 pm

    I’m obsessed with Pippa!!!!!

  • Katie November 16, 2012, 12:45 pm

That picture of Pippa is beautiful!

  • Katie D. November 16, 2012, 1:07 pm

I love it when my cats do that “pose”!

  • Sam November 16, 2012, 1:11 pm

I just keep playing The Hardest Ever over and over again at the moment. Nothing like hearing the words “You can go hard or you can go home” to give me a kick up the bum and get me moving faster!

  • Sharon November 16, 2012, 6:40 pm

I still like to listen “Survival” by Muse when I run. And I’m so excited about the Women’s Running Magazine discount. I always pick it up in the store and have been putting off getting a subscription but wont now! Thanks!

  • Katie @ Talk Less, Say More November 16, 2012, 8:00 pm
