Move… That… Office!

in All Posts

So many toys.  So little time.

The adults’ mantra is currently, “So many boxes.  So little time.”  Day 1 and 2 of Operation Move the Clinic are complete.  That means that everything is out of the old office and into the new one.

It actually wasn’t too bad of an experience.  I don’t think there is a person on the planet that likes moving, but (for once) the anticipation of the move was worse than the move itself.  The new place is only 0.9 miles from the old place, and moving a two-person office is a lot easier than moving a house.  We only had a few really heavy things – massage tables and the secretary’s desk – although I still managed to pull a muscle in my back.  Grrr.

Today is Day 3, and that means we’ll be unpacking and organizing the new space.  This is the fun part!

We’re taking it slow this morning so I can fit in a run.  After I finish writing this post, I’m going to hit the road!

Breakfast included some fried polenta.  I had forgotten about polenta (basically corn mush) but recently spotted a tube in the produce section.  To make, I just sliced it into rounds and dropped the pieces into a hot pan with some olive oil.

With eggs, mushrooms, collard greens, and tomatoes.  Plus lots and lots of coffee.

And…. we’re off!

Hi Caitlin, I’ve been reading your blog for a while (just a little after I found out I was pregnant, and I’m 8 months now). I felt I ought to de-lurk to say thank you so much for all the posts about what it was like being pregnant/Henry’s birth-story/and the postpartum period. It’s so helpful for a first-time mom like me to see what other women are doing. Also, I can’t believe how big Henry has gotten. Babies grow so fast! He looks positively adorable there in his jumper helping y’all move. 🙂

How exciting ! You are very fortunate to have such a chill baby. I’m sure that makes the moving process so much easier.

For the record, I LOVE moving. The sorting and purging of the old space, the unpacking and organizing of the new space, and the excitement of change and a new beginning.

    I know I’m weird ! 🙂

Hi Henry! He is so ridiculously cute. I think he looks like your husband, but he has your mouth. I LOVE his reddish hair.

    Good luck with the move!

Henry is so cute! Those pictures are amazing!

Can’t wait to see how the new location looks once you guys’ are all set up.

  • Carrie @ Fitness and Frozen Grapes November 11, 2012, 12:52 pm

Glad to hear the move is going smoothly! And yum–I haven’t had polenta in far too long.

  • Stacy November 11, 2012, 1:10 pm

    Caitlyn,

Henry is starting to look just like you! Don’t you think??!

  • Katie @ Peace Love & Oats November 11, 2012, 1:50 pm

I usually get some sort of polenta item when I go to the Whole Foods hot bar once a week, yesterday they had a broccoli casserole dish with polenta!

You’re wrong about there not being anyone on the face of the earth that likes moving, because I truly love moving!

Despite the fact that it is a lot of physical work and usually stressful, I think its thrilling! I’ve moved three times in the past year (due to school and internships, not just for fun) and every time I’ve enjoyed it.

There’s just something exciting about moving into a brand new place with a new layout, in a new neighborhood. However, I expect when I get older and acquire more things and have a family to think about, I probably won’t enjoy it as much.

I don’t love all of the lifting and carrying, but I love moving too! I love going to a new, clean place and deciding where I want everything to go. I love going through my stuff and deciding to finally get rid of some of my accumulated junk.

Cute pictures of Henry! Good luck with your organizing-can’t wait to see your new office!

  • Katie November 11, 2012, 4:38 pm

I love polenta! I’ve never seen it in a tube like that – looks so easy.

  • Nikki November 11, 2012, 6:37 pm

We remembere polenta this week too! We fried it and had it with leftover BBQ.

  • Becky November 11, 2012, 7:29 pm

    Henry is such a cutie!

  • BroccoliHut November 11, 2012, 8:17 pm

Yum! I had forgotten how good polenta is until I read this post. I went on a major polenta kick during high school (you know, like most 15 year olds), but I haven’t had it since then. Thanks for the delicious reminder!

  • Reenie November 11, 2012, 9:44 pm

I agree…. Henry is looking more like you Caitlin. So cute 🙂

  • M.C. November 12, 2012, 3:31 pm

Henry is so precious!!!! Love seeing pics of him! 🙂 I like having polenta like that too…. recently tried something and thought I would share…. spoon a little pesto on each slice and then just kinda smear it around on top…. so yum!!
