Errands Like Whoa

in All Posts

Errands, errands, everywhere.  What an intense day of errands!  I felt like I was playing catch-up after our crazy-busy weekend and my work trip.

Errand number one consisted of high-tailing it to the new clinic for our professional photographs – gotta keep the website current!  Our friend, Sean Busher (who does amazing photography!), took the pictures.  It’s so hard to take pretty interior shots.  I’m always impressed when someone can do it well.

He snapped a picture of Henry and me against a nice white backdrop (it’s now my new blog photo – check it out on the top left).  I was doubly impressed that he got Henry to look at the camera!

Afterwards, Sean’s wife Heather and their baby, Mirabelle, joined me for lunch at Chipotle.

I had the burrito bowl with brown rice (I didn’t know Chipotle did brown rice!) with beans, corn salsa, and other veggies.

Little Mirabelle looked so comfy-cozy in her fleece outfit.  I need to get Henry a winter coat – it’s like they don’t exist for six month olds!  Any suggestions?  I’ve looked at a ton of consignment shop and Marshalls, but no dice.

Other errands:  PetsMart, grocery store, and a side trip to buy some winter gear for… myself.  Whoops.  Okay, that was not a necessary errand, but it sure was a fun one.  I got some turquoise jeans.  I don’t think I’ve had colored jeans since… 1993.  Lookin’ fly.

Check old navy. My sons has a 6-12 month winter coat that I ordered from their website.

  • Natalie @ Free Range Human November 15, 2012, 5:09 pm

That shot of the office looks so good! I hope you have a relaxing night after your busy day 🙂

I don’t think we used winter coats on the twins the first year, while they were in their infant seats. I bought these winter-weight JJ Cole Bundle Me (http://jjcolecollections.com/bundleme) covers for their carseats and it kept them toasty warm when travelling from car to wherever we were going. We had fleece snowsuits for extra protection if we were going for a walk outside…

    • Caitlin November 15, 2012, 6:35 pm

      I bought this today! 🙂

      • Ashley November 15, 2012, 10:28 pm

FYI, the BundleMe is not recommended for use in the infant seat because it makes it less safe. Having the straps threaded through can cause them to be less effective in an accident. But the covers that go over like a shower cap are perfectly safe and what we used for out children.

        Something like this…

I was going to suggest the same thing. That’s what we did our baby’s first year. It’s too impossible to put a coat on on a baby!

  • Carrie @ Fitness and Frozen Grapes November 15, 2012, 5:18 pm

Mmmm, love Chipotle! I always get the burrito bowl; the burrito itself is almost too much to handle. 😉

  • jennifer November 15, 2012, 5:24 pm

try old navy for a baby coat

  • Jess@atasteofconfidence November 15, 2012, 5:26 pm

Mmm i love chipotle. It’s such a great fast and somewhat healthy meal! If only it was cheaper! haha.

  • Alexandra November 15, 2012, 5:32 pm

I saw those baby fleeces at the Gap Outlet Monday afternoon in Williamsburg. Perhaps if you take a trip to an outlet they will have some that are affordable

  • Laura November 15, 2012, 5:34 pm
  • Nina November 15, 2012, 5:36 pm

    That burrito bowl looks yummy!

  • Sarah @ Yogi in Action November 15, 2012, 5:36 pm

I love coloured jeans! But definitely brings me back to being in Grade 4 and having the same colours.

Nice work with all your errands. The inside of the clinic looks beautiful! If I wasn’t in a different country, I would definitely go 🙂

  • Rachel (Two Healthy Plates) November 15, 2012, 5:38 pm

Sometimes I love errands days – makes me feel so productive! Also I’m jealous that you had Chipotle for lunch. I live in a big city and I don’t understand how it’s possible that one doesn’t exist here!!! I miss it so much and qdoba is not the same.

  • Ali November 15, 2012, 5:40 pm

    Found a $17 coat at jcp.com

  • Stephanie @ Food and Fitness 4 Real November 15, 2012, 5:42 pm

Old Navy has outwear on sale but I think it ends today. Good place to find something warm for Henry!

  • Erin @ The Grass Skirt November 15, 2012, 5:43 pm

Gymboree has some winter coats marked down right now online. There’s one that I might order for Michael. Target had some on their website too, but I want to look at them in person first before getting one. The new clinic looks great!

  • Kathy November 15, 2012, 5:43 pm

The clinic is beautiful! I don’t have children but I worked at Old Navy and they always have reasonably priced baby clothes…I would check there for a coat.

  • Victoria November 15, 2012, 5:44 pm

alot of people choose to put babies in those one piece bunting sort of things and in cold climate I think these are great. Here in Charlotte not so neccesary. If you do want one, check lands end or llbean. Otherwise I am local and have a now 16mo old boy (July bday) and I would be happy to give you (yes free) a fleece jacket or two. I know I have a red one but I would have to check through the boxes for the other colors etc. Just let me know.

I will be at the GOTR in a few weeks as well attempting to run with my DD – I am so not ready!

  • Heidi November 15, 2012, 5:46 pm

Get the JJ Cole Bundle Me. Best baby invention ever!

  • Andrea November 15, 2012, 5:52 pm

Carter’s has some cute fleece jumper suits for winter. They always seem to be having a sale too.

    • Carrie November 15, 2012, 10:12 pm

We had one of these for my daughter and it was the absolute best. Got it big and she wore it forever. Plenty warm as so cute!

  • Hannah November 15, 2012, 6:04 pm

Not super cheap but northface has awesome fleece jackets starting as little as 3mos.

    • Abby November 15, 2012, 8:43 pm

I got the snowsuit from Northface as a gift, worked awesome for walks outside everyday! Adorable too 🙂

  • Tricia November 15, 2012, 6:25 pm

Just got my 6 month old a coat at baby gap. Not cheap but cute and good quality. They were having 30% off sale so not too bad. I try to keep all her clothes under $10 but this blew it out. $34 for a baby coat! Yikes!!

  • Mayct November 15, 2012, 6:34 pm

Carters for inexpensive winter gear for babies.

  • Mary November 15, 2012, 6:37 pm

If Henry still fits in his portable car seat they make fleeces that zip over it so you don’t have to take it on and off. Loved it with my boys…and worked great in Michigan winters!

  • Helen November 15, 2012, 6:50 pm

Just bundle blankets and stuff around him in his carseat or stroller. Keep in mind you shouldn’t have him wear anything much thicker than a fleece before buckling him in to his carseat as it isn’t safe because you can’t adequately tighten the straps.

    • Angela November 15, 2012, 7:06 pm

I second Helen here…nothing thicker than a fleece in a car seat because not only can you not adequately tighten the straps but in the event of an accident the straps compress a puffy coat and there is then enough room for the baby to be ejected, etc. The JJ Cole Bundle Me or any insert that you pull the straps of your car seat through are also not recommended. They void your car seat warranty and are not considered safe. The shower cap style car seat covers are considered safe.

      • Caitlin November 15, 2012, 7:09 pm

oh good to know! i got it to use in the stroller anyway 😉

        • Nicole November 15, 2012, 10:08 pm

There is an option that works for the car seat too, it has elastic around the edges and slips over the car seat like a shower cap, it worlds really well (there is a place for their head so they get adequate air.) Between that and a bundle me most people can get away without a coat for baby- when baby wearing just zip then into a larger coast of your own.

    • Carrie November 15, 2012, 10:10 pm

Agreed! Even when it is pretty cold a fleece, some layers and a warm hat does the trick… Especially when you’re just running in and out of places.

  • Holly November 15, 2012, 6:51 pm

We just kept a baby blanket near the door and covered him with it when we left the house. We’re in Texas and he is hot natured so no need for a bunting or anything!

  • Jen @ Little-Crumbs November 15, 2012, 6:52 pm

I received a baby boy coat from Macy’s, I think Carter’s makes it. The coat is very cute with a zipper and toggles to really make him look GQ. I also got an adorable fleece suit made by NorthFace, but that’s a pricier option I only got bc I had 50% off!

  • Jen November 15, 2012, 7:46 pm

Just bundle him in blankies! cute pic of the new clinic!

  • Cindy November 15, 2012, 8:08 pm

I saw some baby coats at Target today that looked good – not too heavy, but looked warm.

  • Nicole November 15, 2012, 8:33 pm

I love the new picture of you and Henry! I didn’t know chipolte had brown rice either.

  • Carin November 15, 2012, 8:35 pm

Nice sign… but you appear to have made a mistake with the spelling of “Centre”!

🙂 It’s OK, just a Brit/Yank joke – does K ever revert to the UK version or is he fully Americanised now?

    Love the new picture x

  • Caitlin November 15, 2012, 8:50 pm

LOVE the new photo!!! So cute!!
The new office looks beautiful! How exciting!
I was somewhat craving Chipotle, but after seeing that amazingness up there, I’ll officially be heading there for lunch Saturday 🙂

  • Mandy Barrington @ Eat Pray Grow November 15, 2012, 8:59 pm

The new office looks so peaceful and classy! I wish I live a liiiitle bit closer.

  • Laura November 15, 2012, 9:46 pm

I agree with the comments about old navy, i have seen some cute options there! we layer a lot with riley (8 1/2 months) and also got him some of those zip up fleece suits. one is from old navy and the other is from target, which is more of a velour fabric- super soft! over all i have found it has been a challenge to find a baby coat so the zip up suits are a nice option, especially if we are going to be outside for a while!

the new office looks really nice, i bet it feels great to be moved in!

  • Amber K November 15, 2012, 10:05 pm

I really love the new picture of you and Henry. Someday I hope to experience the intense joy of motherhood!

  • Carrie November 15, 2012, 10:08 pm

Old Navy, Carter’s (sign up for their email and I think you can get 20% off over 40 purchases… You can actually get quite a bit for 40 with careful choosing), children’s place, or even Craigslist. There are tons of options on Craigslist I think people tend to have a good heart in selling. We’ve gotten some great toys.

    Great pictures too!! 🙂

  • Ashley November 15, 2012, 10:20 pm

Target, Wal-Mart, The Children’s Place, Carters, Old Navy…all sell infant winter coats. There are really a ton of options out there.

  • luv what you do November 15, 2012, 10:26 pm

The new center looks beautiful! Congrats!

  • Melissa November 15, 2012, 10:30 pm

Old Navy has a sale on coats until today I believe! 🙂

  • Whitney November 16, 2012, 12:29 am

The Baby Gap outlet always has these! If you have one nearby..

  • Jen November 16, 2012, 8:09 am

I really love your new head shot at the top left! And the office photo looks great too!

  • Amber @ Busy, Bold, Blessed November 16, 2012, 8:26 am

Yay for the new office! And I had Chipotle yesterday too! I’m obsessed 🙂

  • Sarah M November 16, 2012, 8:49 am

I think any store in the mall would have a coat for a baby, i.e. Macy’s, Dillards, Sears, JcPenney, Baby Gap, Old Navy, Carters, A Children’s Place, or Target, Walmart, or I’m sure you can order one on Amazon.

  • Lindsey November 16, 2012, 9:15 am

I wanna see those turquoise jeans! I’ve been waiting to take the colored jean plunge.

  • Hope November 16, 2012, 9:36 am

I noticed the new picture as soon as I opened the website. LOVE it! It’s a great shot of both of you. And Henry just gets cuter and cuter!

    • Caitlin November 16, 2012, 9:47 am

      thanks 🙂

  • jamie November 16, 2012, 10:11 am

I had the same problem with my 8 month old daughter and a winter coat. She’s skinny, and wears 6 month clothes, and there are no 6 month jackets out there! And yes, we all know you should take the coat off when you buckle them in the car seat, but you still need a coat, it’s cold out there!!

I finally found one on Old Navy’s website! They have 6 to 12 month coats, and they fit my skinny mini fabulously. They run about 25 dollars. You should check them out!

  • Lauren November 16, 2012, 10:15 am

love the new picture! Henry is getting BIG. Also, Pippa is super cute!

  • Olivia November 16, 2012, 10:23 am

I have a 7 month old and we have a few zip up sweatshirts and fleece jackets that he wears. I wouldn’t call them winter coats but they do to get him from the house to the car and back again. If it’s extra cold I through a blanket over him while we dash inside.

  • Jen November 16, 2012, 10:26 am

LOVE the new photo of you and Henry!!! He’s getting so big! And so darn cute 🙂 Congrats again on the new clinic. It turned out lovely 🙂

  • ashlynn November 16, 2012, 10:48 am

I know a lot of people have said Old Navy. But, really, they have a lot of baby outerwear and it’s all on sale on their website right now. They have coats, hoodies, snowsuits, vests.
