How tired was I this morning? Thiiiis tired.
That would be oatmeal in the dog food bowl.
I disappeared from the interwebs yesterday because I gave the Husband the entire day off from all work and parenting duties. He’s been so stressed out, and I could sense he was rapidly approaching a breaking point. So I took the baby, took over his work email, and booked him a massage appointment. When he got back (looking much more relaxed), I asked how he wanted to spend the rest of the day, and he replied that he wanted to go to IKEA. To me, the IKEA experience is basically the polar opposite of relaxation, but Kristien really wanted to check out shelving options. We ended up buying a bunch of shelving for the new clinic, and that’s what we’ll be doing today – installing shelves!
So, although it’s a very nice day outside, I think I’ll be spending most of it inside. But I don’t mind. I’m so pumped about our new office that I want to make carpet angels in every room (you know, like snow angels – there are also bed angels).
Once I sorted out who was getting kibble and who was getting oatmeal, I made breakfast.
Just stovetop banana oats with almonds.
Off to make today awesome. Have a good one.

I can’t not think of the 30 Rock Ikea episode now every time Ikea is mentioned. That show nailed the Ikea experience!
My grandmother’s old house had the most awesome carpet where you could make carpet angels so easily. I miss that carpet…
I’ve never been to an Ikea, and I think my bank account appreciates that, lol!
oh no! Hahahaha that’s something I would do, I almost threw away the scoop in my protein powder this morning. My hand was above the trash when I realized what was happening. Have a fun Saturday!
We drive up to Charlotte about once a month for the “IKEA experience”. I love it! Although, if we had one locally I probably wouldn’t care about it as much. You know how that goes..
the oats in the dog bowl just totally cracked me up!
Hi Caitlin,
I really enjoy your blog and have been reading for a while but I don’t think I’ve ever commented before. In any case, I just wanted to say hello and let you know that I love your blog and your approach to life – you seem like a very thoughtful person, and your story about giving Kristien a day off yesterday really highlights that. You’ve motivated me to do something similar for my husband. What a sweet idea!
Wishing you a successful shelf-building Saturday!
I just heard about this- http://www.ubimed.com/content-lifenest.asp
Maybe it will help you sleep easier?
I believe you need a coffee pot with a programmable timer so that when you wake up, it’s already made. And then you can get a few sips in before trying to feed everyone…
Very sweet of you to give him a break! My hubby was nearing that point yesterday and I’m letting him sleep going on 10 hours now while I keep the baby quiet. Husbands need breaks too!
I wish we had IKEA in NZ. Or, considering my bank balance, maybe not…
I saw this and thought of you:

…and now realise you may not find that very complimentary, heh.
So thoughtful of you to give your hubby a little breather when he seemed to need it. I love your sleepy morning musings — always makes me smile.
Do your dogs eat oatmeal? IKEA is my happy place but I think it’s great that you took up all the work for a day!
Way to keep the balance! Hope Kristien enjoyed his day!
I’ve put handsoap on my toothbrush multiple times.
I’ve accidentally brushed with Brad’s toothbrush more times than I care to admit.
I’ve put coffee grounds on my oatmeal bowl or in the wrong part of the coffee maker.
I’ve put my deodorant on three times because I couldn’t remember if I had put it on.
And I don’t have a baby.
I agree. Ikea is totally overwhelming! Hope you enjoy those angels-making
have an awesome day!!!!
What a nice treat to the Hubs! It’s great that you noticed he was at his breaking point and intervened because he probably would have kept pushing himself. That’s what I do…go-go-go (stress stress stress) until the bf steps in and forces me to chill out!
