Up To Something

Happy Saturday!

Here’s what I was up to today:

2

Well, for one, I broke one of My Four Rules of Running and ran back-to-back days.  After yesterday’s awesome 5-mile run, I was feeling extra motivated and decided to attempt to bang out another 4 today, which would’ve brought my weekly total to 15.  I don’t know if you are like this, but I like to do things in ‘round’ numbers -  I know 15 isn’t a round number, but I think of it as a ‘good’ number… halfway between 10 and 20.  Does that even make sense?  Anyway, I attempted 4 but could only do 3.  It was one of those torturous workouts in which I got to the halfway mark and thought, “Oh, crap – I totally have to run home. Noooo.”

I also bought this pretty table:

The Husband’s grandparents and auntie are coming to visit us next weekend – all the way from England – and this has motivated us to finishing decorating the common areas in the house.  We headed to Home Goods to take a little looksie and found this gem.  It’s distressed (which I love because I will inevitably bump into it and scratch it anyway) and has lots of drawers.  Yay, storage.

Thanks to the table and some family pictures, our hallway finally looks complete.  Well, I’d like to buy a runner, but I have major problems committing to rugs.

The next room:  the office.  This is what is currently in the office:  a vintage red chair that I bought on consignment, a broken IKEA table, a set of weights, 15 copies of the Healthy Tipping Point book, a ladder, a baby jumper, and… a bunch of other junk.  In other words, it looks like a terrible mess.  This is extra unfortunate because it’s the first room that you see when you enter the house.  Organizing it shall be a big project.

Hmmm.  What else?  I spent a lot of time working with Henry on his naps (he’s doing so good now that we’re focusing and putting in the effort!), went to a friend’s baby shower, and now I’m contemplating running to the grocery store.  At 8 PM on a Saturday night.  I know, I know.  It’s wild and crazy over here in the HTP household.  What can I say?

So – what did you do today?

That flower is gorgeous! I ran today too….except I did a 5K on the treadmill. It’s so hard for me to transition to the road.

Cleaned and thought about decorating. I was actually looking at living room rugs and hallway runners at Overstock. They have great prices, but the colors aren’t always accurate. I also went to Ross, Marshalls and Pier 1 to look at stuff for decorating. I guess my trip wasn’t as successful as yours.

      Thank you so much

I like the table. Love the arrangement on the top. I think you can skip the runner. The hardwood flooring is beautiful. I hear you on the commitment issue. I moved a year ago and have not done draperies in many rooms for the same reason. I don’t want to live with a bad decision so make no decision at all. If you feel you must get a runner be sure to get one of those rubbery things to put under it so it does not slide around. I have had that issue and it’s unsafe and a pain in the butt. Sounds like a great day over at the the HTP home.

Yay you have talked me out of a runner 🙂 Thanks!!

Don’t feel bad.. My husband and I went out to dinner and were home and in our jammies by 7:30. We are partiers!

Yes, your house looks really nice from the pictures! I’ve actually been sick all week (a really sore throat and bad cold). This was the first morning I felt okay so I went to the gym and took bodypump, bodyattack and ran a mile. It felt pretty good at the time but I took about a 3 hour nap this afternoon! Oh well, I may have overdone it a little but I’m still glad I did it!

Your house is shaping up nice! I love distressed wood too- we’d love to do our downstairs flooring with it. Today I finished making a quilt, finished reading a book, graded some papers, worked out, went swimming, did laundry and am now rewarding myself with pizza out (tomorrow I’ll get NOTHING done, haha).

beautiful home! 🙂 we have similar floors and i decided against a rug because a) i couldnt decide b) i thought the floors were too pretty to be covered up and c) id have to buy a vacuum to clean it. not worth the hassle! same with curtains. we have custom framed windows and nice blinds. i only did curtains for the main living space because i think the windows are pretty how they are!
sounds like a productive day! i ran 7 miles with my SIL (she ran 13 prior to my joining her!), attended a baptism, took the baby to my husband so i could donate blood, went to an arbonne party then got my hair cut! all before 3pm. i was done- but still snuck in some grandma time for my 2yr old and then went to the other grandparents house… all before fixing dinner and getting the little one down by 8:15. good.freaking.night!
good luck with your office! 🙂

    The hall looks great!
Today I smashed my half marathon PB: 1h38m55s. It’s my first time under 100mins, a goal I’ve been aiming for forever. So totally pumped.

I love that table! Oh, and your home is beautiful!

I am in the process or sorting out my office – it is a big task.

I agree, you can skip the runner. The distressed look of the table make it look a little more cozy and like a home, I think it`s perfect on its own and with some family pictures it`s even better.
A runner will only be another thing that collects dirt and wants to be vacuumed. Skip it.
You handle so many things, I`m impressed, I`m a student and some days life just seems to have an endless list of things to do for me.
I can totally relate to the “good numbers” for miles by the way. I hate workouts ending at .9 – I will just add another .1 miles most of the time.

I always LOVE your pictures of flowers! Just stunning!

Love the table! And so funny…my boyfriend’s family is coming over for Christmas and it is just the motivation we needed to finally decorate our apartment! He bought the place over a year ago and it looks like someone has just lived there for a few months. Ha.
