Oh, if only keeping your commitments was as easy as tweeting about them…

Sleeping is for babies.  All the cool kids want to stay up and PLAY.

And PLAY and PLAY and CRY and PLAY and EAT.

Awww, it’s okay.  I’ll take a baby cuddle any day.

I really did have the best of intentions but by the time I emerged from the bedroom, the Husband and Nick were pulling dinner out of the oven (go, boys!).

And the sun was setting.

Soooo.  You know.  Now I’m chatting with you instead of getting my sweat on.  How’s that song go?  There’s always tomorrrrrrow.  To start over agaaaaaaain!

In other news, I am on a home decorating spree (I’ll post some pictures tomorrow) and attempted to paint my own abstract wall art this afternoon.

photo

Talk about a serious fail.  One of the canvases came out okay… I’m going to hang it up when it’s dry and give it a few days, but I honestly think it’s akin to giving an elephant a paintbrush and letting it go to town.  No good.  I’m too embarrassed to even show you the final product.  I want to attempt this technique next – but that requires a lot of prep work!

Anyone else have a workout fail today?  How about a home design fail?

That would look fantastic! Have fun with it!

The good news is you can just paint over the canvas and start new :) A really fun on is to paint a bunch of random colors, then get some vinyl letters and spell out a saying or quote you like on the canvas and paint over top with a single color. Then when you pull the letters off, it’s crazy rainbow letters underneath!

that is an AWESOME Idea.

Just make sure if & when you do it, you press the letters down enough so the paint doesn’t seep through & pull the letters off just as soon as the paint is set up or the letters sticks to the canvas. (don’t ask me how I know this). Oh and measure measure measure the placement of your letters or it will look all wonky tonky. use pencil not pen to draw the lines. (again don’t ask me how I know this)

We’ve put 18 paint samples on our dining room wall and still haven’t decided.

The cuddle time would have won me over too. :) That’s time you’ll never get back, runs can always happen.

I love your blog, Caitlin. I’ve been reading since 2009 and I love that you continue to amaze me. Operation Beautiful, 2 books, a loving wife and mother…you ROCK! We all have “fail” days, but I’m glad you are lighthearted about it and just pick it up the next day. Life is meant to be enjoyed, after all. If baby wants snuggles, snuggle up <3

Blame it on Monday! I think Mondays were set up to just be big, fat, failure days! Or is that just my Mondays? :)

I’m pretty sure most of my home decorating attempts are fails – ha! But I sure do love attempting them anyway and I look forward to the day when I have my own place again and can decorate it the way I want!

Work out fail for me. I was suppose to go for a 24 mile ride tonight. My front tire went flat yesterday and I didn’t change it. Today I got home from work, made dinner, and didn’t change it. By 7 the sun was setting and there was no bike ride for me, and it’s suppose to rain tomorrow. I guess that means I’ll finally have to make myself change that tire!

Yep! I had a workout/equipment fail. I planned on going swimming after my run tonight but I got caught in the rain while running and my insulin pump went berserk and stopped working. They are supposed to be somewhat water tight… for rain and whatnot but apparently not today. So the swim did not happen. Very annoying. Instead I went back to work. :(

i had a gym reservation for my 10 mth old (you have to reserve a spot for infants at this gym…) but by the time it came around i was so exhausted from being up sick last night that i ended up just dropping the kids off at the childcare and sitting on the couches in the lobby for 45 mins for a break. eek…but i tell myself it’s okay b/c my 2.5 yr old LOVES the kids play area there and the baby naps the whole time. so you know, it’s not SO bad.

there are plenty more days to run! i think cuddling with the baby sounds much nicer :) i had a workout fail when i decided at 5:30 this morning that sleep was more important than squeezing in a pre-work run. oh well!

Total workout fail today. I couldn’t walk the dog and 2 kids outside in the rain (I am in Huntersville) and I couldn’t go to the Y to do anything because my son had a fever (ear infection). Does your husband know anything natural I can put in his ears that works? I was told to try garlic oil, so I’m going to Earth Fare on a mission tomorrow.

My entire last week was an epic fail… but today I started the week out with a great run! I actually just wrote about starting over again and again… it happens!

I had a workout fail today. Packed my bag for the gym last night but I woke up with a sore throat and decided to sleep a couple hours more instead. Determined to make it happen tomorrow!

I’m sure your art work will be great. Don’t sell yourself short, I have actually seen some beautiful elephant artwork ;) http://www.elephantartgallery.com/
No kidding, there are elephants that paint beautifully.

I love homemade art! If you like it enough to hang it up in your house, it is by definition good art! :D

We’ve been talking about painting the legs of our dining room table for 9 months now and today I got super motivated to finally go pick out paint and do it. I hesitated due to weather, but pretty much every craft + diy project I take on ends as a fail. I look at Young House Love and think, “I can totally do this!!” They make redoing an entire kitchen look easy peasy.

Artwork is too subjective to diss. To me, some very famous pieces look like a 4-year-old’s finger paintings. It all depends on who’s looking at it. You must aim to please 3 people before hanging it up: Yourself, your husband, and Henry!

I probably missed this in a previous post, but have you tried taking Henry running with you?

Caitlin September 17, 2012 at 11:21 pm

He isn’t old enough yet! Maybe at six months.

My husband is out of town for work tonight and I was determined to exercise after I put our 4 month old son, Parker, to bed. But once he fell asleep I realized that meant doing a workout dvd since I am home alone. I am sooooo over workout dvds… blah. So instead, I am going to take a long shower and get in bed with a book. Here’s to tomorrow!

I just painted my own abstract art and I love how it turned out! So easy- I just bought Martha Stewart acrylic paints, painted a tan base (with both a sponge brush and a hard bristle brush dipped in a little water so the strokes stood out), then painted a rough second color (I chose navy mixed with black to deepen it).

I hope these links work!

Not really a home design fail.. but I feel like everything in our house is conveniently breaking at the same time…. the mirror to our medicine cabinet came off.. the vent in the bathroom fell off the ceiling… some molding came down. Ugh. Repair City.

I always think painting look so EASY and FAIL every time! Lol. Think you should show it though, I bet you are just to hard on yourself!
And instead of running, why not try doing some HIIT’s or DVD work outs instead? TurboFire is a killer, so much fun!! That’s how I get my work outs in with a 2 month old in the house. Great way to get some energy and feel good about myself for doing something for me or I will go crazy. (crazier…) ;)

Workout fail today: Skipped my planned 4-mile run in favor of stretching, pushups and a few extra minutes of snoozing. Home decor fail: My bf spent all weekend trying to strip the paint from our brick wall only to discover it’s pretty much impossible!

I had a semi-workout fail this morning. I was planning to do a bike-run brick, but due to the rain and a tornado warning (!!), the multisport workout didn’t happen; I ended up running on the treadmill. Better safe than sorry!
