Lauren Time

Hey, hey.  I am very much enjoying my weekend.  My BFF Lauren (the one the Healthy Tipping Point book is dedicated to, actually – Lauren is the person who convinced me to shape up and get my life together) is visiting all the way from Singapore.  I haven’t seen her in over a year, so we’re having a blast catching up and hanging out.

(Yes, I wear this blue dress every. single. weekend.)

I took her out on the town last night, and today, we enjoyed a lazy morning of playing with Henry.  For lunch, I knew I had to take her to my favorite Charlotte restaurant, The Cowfish.  Lauren was very intrigued by the concept of a sushi / burger bar.

To experience Cowfish in all of it’s glory, she got the bento box, which included a mini burger slider and sushi.  See?  Cow… Fish.

I had vegetarian sushi.

One of the rolls included carrots, asparagus, mint, and tofu, and the other was stuffed with carrots, beets, Thai basil, and tofu.

Per our long-standing tradition, we went and got mani/pedis after lunch.

Well, we are normally separated by 10,000 miles or so – it’s time to spend more time with Lauren.  Hope your weekend is going well, too!

That bento box looks so cool! I love sushi :) I’ve never had a bento box, though.

Aaaaand, I am craving sushi right now!

So glad you get to catch up! One of my best friends lives in Australia, haven’t seen her in over 1.5 years. But: I am flying down in January and will be staying for over a year. CANNOT. WAIT!

Hey! You’re a nail expert. Where’s a good place to get an affordable mani/pedi in Charlotte?

That dinner looks incredible, but even more special since you spent it with your BFF. I don’t know what I’d do if I had to fly across the world to see my best friend. Enjoy your weekend!!!

Cowfish seems like the pregnant woman’s dream restaurant! I have been consistently craving hamburgers and sushi throughout this pregnancy.

Seems like a wonderful weekend! We have an awesome Burger/ sushi place near us but its like fast food joint with a fancy sushi place inside. Its awesome because I am anti fish so I get a burger bento box! So if you’re ever in LA or the valley, Kings Burgers on Reseda bl. is brilliant!!!

Aaaahhh, that bento box looks delicioussss….

Best friend time is always great. I have a few friends that live away in TN and London, and it sucks because I feel like it’s forever between the times I get to see them! But it’s always worth it those few days when they’re in town :)

And sometimes I’m lucky when they bring me some kind of little trinket souvenir.

I’ve been meaning to try Cowfish, but getting up to inner Charlotte is rough. The farthest I’ve been to eat recently is Pinky’s over in the Westside of Charlotte. I absolutely LOVE that place. Food is great, waitstaff is awesome, place looks great, and the price is amazing too. They have great vegetarian options too! All while keeping that great bar food taste.

That`s wonderful! I had to keep up a lot of long-distance friendships due to my background and I know how hard it is sometimes. But I think it`s wonderful when you have someone who is such a great friend to you.

Okay, I have to admit… I have never had sushi. It just has never appealed to me. But your vegetarian sushi looks delicious!

I was reading People Mag the other day and apparently Michael Phelps was spotted at Cowfish just after the Olympics! Pretty neat, and looks delish

I’ve seen Cowfish on your blog so many times before but I never knew it served burgers AND sushi. That’s hilarious!
