It’s raining out there… hope the sun is shining in Florida!
Ah yes. Today we leave for our road trip to Florida. I am less than thrilled by the prospect of driving eight (nine? ten?) hours with a baby and two dogs, but it’s cheaper than flying. You should see the back of our car – it is loaded to the gills with all sorts of odds and ends. Is driving worth my sanity? Hmm. I am not sure. Maybe?
Brekkie:
Gluten-free pancake (a mix)
Sunflower butter
Coconut
Blackberries
All out of maple syrup – boo! Still tasty, though.
I leave you with this…
Pray for us. Pray that there are many Starbucks along the way…

We’ve got a rainy day here too, but in my windowless office I tend to forget about the weather. I’m sure Florida will be totally worth it once you get there. Have a great time Caitlin!
Good luck with the drive!! And thanks for the smile inducing photo! What a cute little man you’ve got there.
Good luck. Plenty of Starbucks in Atlanta if your drive takes you through here!!
Haha good luck on your little journey! If anything, it should definitely be interesting! Hopefully the hours will fly by.
oh. my. god.
I don’t normally comment on cute baby photos, but WHOA is that a cute baby photo!
That’s a cute baby photo. And, don’t worry about the drive. My SIL and BIL drove over 20 hours each way to visit family across the country with their 8 week old in July (+2 large dogs). They survived.
I love road trips, hopefully you’ll find something to love about this one! Is this Henry’s first 8-10 hour road trip? 3 cheers for new milestones!
Henry hasn’t been on a plane yet, has he? Quite often, the cabin pressure is too much for the eustachian tube in young babies to handle. The pressure causes pain, and lots of crying. I think you made the right choice by driving. Safe travels!
Oh man! You are a trooper!!! Be safe!
I think that is the cutest pic of Henry yet!
Safe travels!
Let us know how it goes. I also have two Westies and an 11 week old baby. I am very nervous about road tripping with baby and dogs. Do the dogs sit on either side of the car seat? Mine are used to having the whole back seat and running back and forth from window to window which is not possible with car seat! I am afraid they will try to cross over the baby in the seat!!
Good luck! You are braver than me, we are flying to FL in a week (with our 4 yr old and 6 month old). It would be 14 hours for us though, and I get car sick easily.
Did Maggie even notice Henry was there in that pic? LOL!
Back in march I had to do a car ride with my mother, brother, sister-in-law, and my 3 month old nephew from Florida to Ohio. The baby was so good for most of the trip (both ways). He only got fussy in the last hour or so of each trip (but I think we all felt that way after 17 hours. You’ll be fine with Henry. I think it would be worse if he was more mobile. Even now at 8 months, I don’t know if we could make that trip with him. Good luck and hope you don’t get rain the whole way.
Henry is so beautiful. He looks just like your husband!
You seem like such a natural mama. Enjoy your trip.
YAY! First long road trip with Henry! What fun. What MEMORIES! Blessings sent your way for a safe and very happy trip.
The picture of Henry and Maggie is too freaking cute! Good luck on the road!

Henry looks exactly like your husband!! Love hearing the updates about little Henry – he is just so adorable!
That picture is so amazing! Good luck and God Speed.
Hahaha that picture just made my morning! So adorable!
Hope you have a safe, fun trip! What part of Florida will you be going to – Miami? I’m actually in the Panhandle right now! My mom had to go for a work trip & doesn’t like flying, so since I had time off of work, I drove us down…from Ohio (16 hours)! It’s been a little rainy every day, but clearing up nicely in the afternoon for some nice, hot sun
Have a safe trip. Henry will do fine I’m sure. Download the free Starbucks app for your phone. It has a store locator that shows you the nearest Starbucks in the area. I love it for traveling. Enjoy this time with your family.
bon chance, buena suerte, good luck!
You don’t need luck, just boobies. Our first road trip was when my toddler was 8 weeks. He was pretty great but the drive just took longer because I stopped to breastfeed every 2 hours, I was also the driver.
Keep up the car trips so he gets used to traveling and being still. It will be so beneficial in the future.
Those pancakes look delicious! And good luck with the drive!! (You can do what my parents do and scope out the Starbucks so they know when NOT to stop and push an extra 30 minutes to get to one…)
Be careful….safe travels…..enjoy your time away.
Ahhhhhhh ~ Mags is starting to come around with her little brother. What an adorable pic. <3
Safe travels!! Have a great time if Florida.
*in Florida
Whoops, I think I already need more coffee too!
I just died from that last picture! Thanks!

Safe travels! I hope you have a wonderful trip and your Grandpa has a wonderful birthday! Can’t wait to see a pic of Henry in his new outfit!
Is Maggie doing better with Henry?
It’s hot, hot and very sunny here in FL! Hope the travel goes well.
Awwww, such a sweet picture.
Maggie getting along with Henry?? I’m sure your trip will be adventurous. Safe travels!
Does this mean that Maggie has come around to the idea of Henry? That picture is such a sweet one! (I had a dachsie growing up and there are lots of pictures of me using that poor thing as a pillow
)
Good luck with the trip and enjoy the holidays!! The picture of Maggie & Henry is super cute How is she managing around him??
I’ll definitely be praying for your safe travels! Hopefully little Henry will take long naps on the trip so you can make better time without having to stop too much!
The picture is beatiful. They are going to be best friends. Safe travel to ya’ll.
Good Luck! I remember making that drive twice a year when I was younger. My family lived in Oldsmar, Fl and we would travel up here to NC every holiday to see family. Ugh, that was the longest drive in the world. I feel for ya!
Good luck to ya!! I hate driving….I am so sorry
BUT you have sunny FL on the end! You can do this!!!
Glad the kids are getting along!
Good luck!
that picture – so freakin cute!!!
That picture hurts my ovaries!
Good luck with your drive; I’ll cross my fingers for helpfully placed coffee shops!
hope you guys are having a pleasant ride to FL. that pic of henry & the pup is too cute!!
That picture is adorable! With any luck, hopefully they’ll be that peaceful for the car ride too.
Have a good trip!
Good Luck. I actually have found that road trips, especially with babies Henry’s age are a breeze! They like the motion of the car and sleep a lot. I always bring my pump with me. We’ll stop to nurse and diaper change but in between stops, or when we’re really close to our destination and don’t want to stop, I pump and climb in the backseat with the bottle of milk.
New favourite picture of Henry right there.
Good luck!
GOOOOD LUCK! The pancakes look delish. I also recently saw a 3-ingredient pancake recipe that I’m going to try: Banana + Nut Butter + Egg—so easy!
That photo should be on a Hallmark card!!!!!!!!!!!
That last picture is just too cute!!!
I put honey on my waffles when I am out of syrup. Just as good tasting!*
Hahahah that picture is hilarious! Baby and puppy ftw
