Camping In

It’s so nice to be in Florida!  We’re staying at my in-laws’ house.  Normally, it’s rented out, but they are in between tenants so we’re all crashing the pad.  That means there are absolutely no kitchen supplies or furniture, so we brought down absolutely everything we’d need for the next few days.  It feels like we’re camping indoors.

Sleepin’ on a slooooowly deflating air mattress.

After we ate breakfast, Henry decided to go back to sleep, and the Husband and I got to back to sleep for TWO GLORIOUS, UNINTERRUPTED HOURS.  It’s like he knew we were all on vacation!  It was amazing.  Aaaa-maaaz-ing.

I woke up to my mother-in-law making coffee.  We rustled up a snack and talked about going for a run.

The trail near their house in Florida is actually my favorite running path in the entire world.  It’s the most beautiful, most scenic, and most interesting 1.5-mile out-and-back course that I’ve ever run.

You start off on a dirt path through a Florida forest.

And then you hit the boardwalk.

And then you arrive at the intracoastal waterway.

The best part?  The ocean breeze!

No… wait.  The best part is jumping in the pool after a 3.0-mile run <—the furthest I’ve ran/walked since pregnancy!

I love vacation.  I am almost giddy with vacation joy (or nap-induced joy).

Henry and I are off to the grocery store to stock up on eats.  Hope your Friday is going well, too!

I know you were doing Couch to 5K…did you finish the entire program, or just do your own thing after a while? I’m doing it too (postpartum as well!) but I’m scared to deviate from the plan!

I follow the plan 2/3 runs. If I run with someone else I usually just wing it

That looks like so much fun! And let me tell ya, when we were moving one time a few years back we slept on an air mattress while our furniture was packed up and we put our memory foam on top of it, I swear it was THE most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept on and we have a king size Tempur-pedic now, so that’s saying something.

Go canes! Is that Boynton Beach?

Sounds like a great run. It’s crazy how a change of scenery can make a run feel so different!

That’s great you are up to 3 miles!! Congrats! From reading so many blogs of people with babies, I realize I need to not take for granted how much sleep I get while I still am baby-less ;)

That trail is awesome! That’s one of the (very few) things I miss about my hometown versus LA: I had a lovely running path along the river here. Now, I run through Hollywood and try to ignore the smell of urine. Ha.
