The Return of Mmmm

in All Posts

Oh, Mmmm Sauce.  I thought I had burned out on you, but I just needed a little break.

Work it, Mmmm Sauce.  WERK it.

My Mmmm Sauce is always a bit green because I add fresh parsley or cilantro – yum.

How’s your Tuesday been?  Does anyone else feel that it should already be at least Thursday, not Tuesday?  My day has been rammed with meetings and projects, and I have a terrible case of the third trimester sleepies.  Zzzzz…

(DadHTP says hi!)

I’m also working on three interesting upcoming posts for HTP:  a discussion about the dangers of obstacle-course style ‘adventure races;’ a bit about why I’m back in therapy (don’t worry; everything is all good); and our somewhat surprising outlook on disposable vs. cloth diapering.  Stay tuned – these are both coming within the next week or so.

Until then….

    1. I’m super excited for the obstacle-course style adventures race post! I recently ran one of these with friends and 2 ended up pretty badly bruised and cut up, and we all ended up with horrific poison ivy. It made me question how safe they really are.

    2. The therapy post. Not sure if you mean regular therapy or physical therapy but either way I’m curious!

    3. Cloth diapering. You always seem to help discuss topics that seem overwhelming or taboo to me (i.e. like eating your placenta) adn make them more normal, relatable and understandable. The idea of cloth diapering to me sounds beyond overwhelming, so looking forward to it!

Looking forward to reading all three of these posts. I am definitely curious about ALL for their own reasons.
    1. I am signed up for the mudathalon.
    2. I am a QUEEN of therapy. Constantly in it!
    3. We’re going to start trying ourselves soon, so I am sure this info will be handy!

Love that quote – and the person who came up with it! 🙂 I’ve also got a case of the sleepies, but mostly because I am sleep deprived after having attended Oprah’s Life Class last night. (It was awesome!) I’m posting about it on Thursday, but right now everything I learned is either jumbled up in my head or scribbled down on a pad of paper!

  • Jennifer April 17, 2012, 2:55 pm

I need to make another batch of THE SAUCE. It’s been awhile but I’ve missed it.

Looking forward to your (always) intersting posts! I kinda like the preview by the way.

  • Lisa (bakebikeblog) April 17, 2012, 2:55 pm

    gorgeous placemats!

  • Laine April 17, 2012, 2:58 pm

Ack! I just signed up for a Ruckus Race. I’m not going to go super hard-core, they say it’s “family friendly.” I did look at the Tough Mudder stuff and that involves fire and underwater tight tunnels and being electrocuted. Not for me.

  • Katie @ Peace Love & Oats April 17, 2012, 3:01 pm

I still have not made Mmmm sauce! I really need to!

  • Ida April 17, 2012, 3:04 pm

I just did my 1st mud run and loved it. I was more worried about catching something from crawling though the mud than from getting hurt while climbing over walls. I have read about bacterial outbreaks during such events- yuck!

  • Patti @ This Starts Tonight April 17, 2012, 3:08 pm

Can’t stop staring at the Mmmm sauce. Want… Also obviously need to check out tricolored quinoa, due to its ubiquitous appearance in your meals. Looks so yum!

  • Alycia April 17, 2012, 3:11 pm

I love your “topic” posts, they always draw me in, especially anything that causes great comment discussion. I’m especially excited about a therapy post (assuming you mean mental health therapy) because I’m getting my masters degree to become a mental health counselor! I always think it’s great when people talk about their therapy experiences with others. It’s so NORMAL to be in therapy, no matter how great things in our lives are =)

    • Caitlin April 17, 2012, 4:37 pm

Agree 🙂 Time to remove the stigma of therapy.

      • Kendra April 18, 2012, 2:18 pm

I agree with both of you! I wrote something similar on my blog… Once you find a therapist you like and a process you like, therapy is an amazing experience that I believe enhances your life. I am also looking forward to that post, Caitlin! Alycia, best of luck with your degree! 🙂

    • Jessica @ MyKindnessCounts April 17, 2012, 9:15 pm

Totally agree with everything said in this comment. Excited for your upcoming posts, Caitlin!

  • Devonshire April 17, 2012, 3:20 pm

LOL! i was dreaming of mmmm sauce for the past 3 days and i’m making some this afternoon! 😉

  • Catalina @ Cake with Love April 17, 2012, 3:30 pm

I used to eat MMM sauce for a while, I have to get it back in my life, it is soooo good!

  • JenATX April 17, 2012, 3:53 pm

yay for therapy! its awesome, everyone should do it

  • HTPMom April 17, 2012, 4:02 pm

    What a “thoughtful” thought.

  • Jocelyn @ RunningNoodle April 17, 2012, 4:05 pm

I’m so glad that I’m not the only one who keeps thinking it’s Thursday! Love your blog and how real you are about your hopes, dreams, and hang ups. Keep up the good work!

  • mollie April 17, 2012, 4:28 pm

does mmmm sauce taste like hummus? i want to try it, but i super hate chickpeas…

    • Caitlin April 17, 2012, 4:38 pm

      nope not at all!

  • Emily April 17, 2012, 4:39 pm

Oh man, I need to try Mmm Sauce again! I held on to the recipe until I got my food processor, but when I finally made it, it wasn’t what I expected. I did use some different spices, so that could have been the problem. Seeing this makes me want to try again! Mmm Sauce round 2!

  • briana April 17, 2012, 4:50 pm

I’m facing multiple looming Friday deadlines so I for one am soooo glad it’s Tuesday and not Thursday! 🙂

  • Megan April 17, 2012, 5:05 pm

I’m super excited for your therapy post (and all other posts, of course). I recently had counselling for some emotional issues I had in regards to my ex-job, and it was super helpful but also really intimidating to seek it out.
Your insights are always super interesting and inspiring. You are pretty awesome!

  • Alexis April 17, 2012, 5:14 pm

OMG. I honestly thought it was Wednesday up until I read this post! I even thought you were wrong, and double-checked on my phone. Then looked at my calendar and realized I missed a conference call. Oops. (I’m 6 hours behind you, so its still morning here, making it a little more okay that I just realized the day haha)

  • Amanda April 17, 2012, 5:29 pm

I think we all could use a bit of therapy at different stages of our lives.

  • Sarah April 17, 2012, 5:39 pm

I was beginning to think the apocalypse was coming, but now all is as it should be.

  • Earthy Nicole April 17, 2012, 5:48 pm

I’m excited for the new posts! I did the Warrior Dash last year and had a blast. I had tons of bruises and scrapes but at the time I was so full of adrenaline so it didn’t hurt but I’m hesitant to do it again, lol!

    Love the quote 🙂

  • Kristin @ Wounded Fawn April 17, 2012, 6:41 pm

Congratulations on getting back to therapy! I love going to my psychologist. I have been going for 6ish years I haven’t been depressed for quit a few though.

  • Wendy April 17, 2012, 7:30 pm

Yes, it should definitely be Thursday. I ran hard at a race on Sunday and haven’t been getting enough sleep since then. I am dragging!

Looking forward to your topic posts – esp. the cloth diapering one. I used CD with both my kids (youngest is 5), and loved it. I’m curious about your perspective!

  • Army Amy* April 17, 2012, 8:07 pm

Did you hear about the person who recently died at a Mud Run here in Texas? This obviously isn’t the norm, but it is scary stuff.*

  • Laura @ She Eats Well April 17, 2012, 9:09 pm

Love knowing what is to come for future posts. Curious about your therapy post. I’m a big advocate for therapy…it can be so valuable. Hope you had a happy and productive Tuesday!

  • Linz @ Itz Linz April 17, 2012, 9:12 pm

it’s been awhile since i’ve made mmm sauce! i think it’s time!

  • Jessica @ MyKindnessCounts April 17, 2012, 9:18 pm

This is why I love your site, Caitlin. You bring about such great conversation and your open-mindedness really draws in all types of people and opinions. It’s wonderful. I’m thinking about heading back to therapy myself for various stress/life-changing reasons, so I’m excited to read your thoughts. 🙂

  • Lauren @ therawcure April 17, 2012, 9:44 pm

I second the motion that it’s Thursday. My body and emotions completely agree.

  • Jen April 18, 2012, 4:36 am

    Love YOUR quote…and it’s so true! 🙂

  • Chelsea April 18, 2012, 12:42 pm

I really need to try this recipe out ASAP with how much you love it ha.
