Best Debate:  Where Should the TV Go?  I loved reading your comments on this post.  So far, having a dedicated “TV room” (although we’re calling it the “man cave”) is really nice.  I definitely agree with everyone who said getting the TV out of the living room, if possible, is the way to go!

You look so healthy and glowing! Also, though I am no where near having a child anytime soon, I thoroughly enjoy learning about pregnancy through your experience. And I’m totally intruiged by the whole placenta thing. So fascinating.

I am one of the ones who is a little intrigued about the whole placenta thang! If I ever have a baby I would definitely look into it myself so was interesting to read a little more about it!

Just wanted to say that your placenta post totally opened my eyes. I had heard so many stories about people who consumed it, planted it, etc. and I was always thoroughly grossed out. But you made it seem so simple and not gross at all, but really kind of natural. I love that you’re willing to try anything if it could potentially benefit you and the baby. Thank you for writing about the controversial topic and being honest, I’m sure I’m not the only one who appreciates it!

      Thanks Lauren 🙂

    Have you seen this article?
    http://parenting.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/03/25/i-regret-eating-my-placenta/?scp=1&sq=placenta&st=cse

I think it is a good reminder to keep an open mind in both directions!

I did see that article but I think it was really poorly researched and written. There are so many things that could’ve impacted her beyond the placenta itself; maybe it WAS the placenta but the alternative scenarios should’ve been explored (did she receive medication during deliver? was her placenta treated with herbs that she was allergic to? etc)

I love that you’re discussing consuming your placenta and I hope you’ll be as candid about discussing your breastfeeding experience. These are the things that has allowed our species to continue to thrive and evolve and open discussion goes so far in the normalization of these often misunderstood things. I’m sure you have oodles of support and the last thing you need is a perfect stranger, but as a future lactation consultant I extend the offer of a shoulder to lean on anytime via email. Sometimes all it takes is an understanding ear to get through a rough patch and I am more than happy to be there for for a newly breastfeeding mama.
