Do you know what the solution to being overwhelmed is?  Besides buckling down and actually being productive, of course. Winking smile

EATING OUT!

A dinner out with the Husband was exactly what I needed after a long work day.  He got a margarita; I stared at it with intense jealousy.  The lack of boozy fun aside, a meal out felt so nice and luxurious.  No food to prep, no dishes to wash.  Just 45 minutes to relax and b-r-e-a-t-h-e.

We went to Cantina 1511, a really great Mexican restaurant.  I got corn tortillas stuffed with veggies, black beans, and cheese.  So… much… grub.

And chips. Lots o’chips.

So. There you have it.  I took your advice, slowed down, and made a conscious effort to relax.  And it felt awesome.

No dishes is definitely the best part of eating out! Especially after a long day, it’s worth the extra dough!

that looks so good, I’ve been dying to go out for mexican! I think i might request it for after my half marathon this weekend. I’m glad you’re feeling a little less overwhelmed!

Hope you can get some good rest tonight! That always helps calm me down. If you have any essential oils like lavender or vanilla, put a few drops on a cotton ball and put it in your pillow case or nearby to help soothe you as you sleep. That also helps me.

As I lie in bed with my teeth brushed and ready to go to bed…I read this post and now I’m hungry – specifically for chips and salsa! Oy.

That is awesome! I too need to slow down and just breathe. SO go for you for changing it and allowing yourself that time. Looks tasty!!

It’s such a treat to eat out and I think we tend to appreciate it more when we’re overwhelmed and tired! Glad you treated yourselves and hope you enjoyed the chips! I mean, Mexican food. The chips are always oh so delicious.

Mexican food and a mid-week break are probably exactly what you needed 🙂 I know eating out always makes me feel relaxed and gives me a moment to breathe…if only it didn’t cost so much I’d do it more often 😉

I always wanted to try Cantina 1511 while I was living in Charlotte. Unfortunately, I never had the chance before I moved away. But, it looks delicious!

I had the same kind of day of Tuesday! And it, too, was solved with chips and salsa out at a restaurant. 🙂

So true! Sometimes it’s necessary to just take a break and do something fun, even when life is hectic. Your dinner looks awesome!

We did our own little Mexican feast. It was good but I’m jealous = we had to clean our own dishes. Next time, we’re eating out! 🙂

Hubs and I LOVE Cantina 1511. Must get there soon!!!

I totally need to take this advice! I don’t have a husband/boyfriend but I could drag a friend out. I just got a new job (a major step up in responsibility) and am currently working finishing teaching classes, looking to buy my first house (on my own!), training for a half marathon (bad timing), moving 2 hours away, prepping for an invited presentation, and prepping for a 3-week teaching course on the road. Too much going on and I’m definitely overwhelmed and super stressed! It makes me just want to curl up in a ball and sleep until I can wake up and find it is all taken care of for me!

We have a Cantina 18 in Raleigh that looks like the same chain. Same chips, plates, salsas and food at least. i’ve gotten that before, and it’s fantastic. love that place!

Glad you were able to find some serenity.

  • Shannon March 29, 2012, 11:03 am

Dinners out are definitely great when your feeling overwhelmed. A little break, no cooking, no dishes, and you can talk about your feelings with a friend or loved one! Glad you feel more relaxed after slowing down!

  • allpointswhole March 29, 2012, 11:28 am

    Good for you!!

  • Amber K March 29, 2012, 2:47 pm

    Wow, that food looks delicious!

  • Dominique March 29, 2012, 10:13 pm

So glad you were able to relax a bit! Nothing beats eating out. The best part for me, is not having to clean or tidy up the kitchen!

  • Life's a Bowl March 30, 2012, 2:12 pm

The best thing I do when I feel overwhelmed is to do everything that I don’t have to or need to do aka procrastinate 😛
