Home

We’re moving today. It’s intense.  We were packing until 11 PM last night. Oh, and it’s raining.  Figures… Pizza is involved. And beer (for some). Goodbye, old home.  Lots of lovely memories were made within your walls. Hello, new home.  We’re all very happy to FINALLY be here.  Now, if you’d just unpack yourself…

You Know What Would Be Awesome?

Real world spring break.  As in, an entire week off of work and responsibilities, just like you get when you’re in school.  How sweet would that be?  I would vote for any presidential candidate who proposes real world spring break as part of his or her platform. At Girls on the Run, I found out [...]

Breakfast Stir-Fry

I though to myself this morning, “If I eat one more breakfast of oatmeal, yogurt, or eggs on toast, I will surely scream.”  So I made a breakfast stir-fry.  Much better. Thanks to frozen brown rice, this dish was really easy and fast.  Perfect for a Friday morning.  Super perfect for a Friday morning that [...]

Bookworm Giveaway, Round II

Hey, hey.  Somewhere in the midst of all this cra-aziness, my second book release snuck up on me!  The Healthy Tipping Point book comes out on May 1 – in just a month.  I’m very excited for Healthy Tipping Point: A Powerful Program for a Healthier, Happier You because it’s a holistic healthy living guide [...]

My final thoughts New to this series?  Please check out The Naked Face Project website and my introduction to TNFP to get a complete understanding of the intention behind the Project.   The Naked Face Project is nearing the end – and I must admit that I’m feeling a mixture of sadness, joy, and relief.  [...]

Where Should the TV Go?

Sometimes, all you can do is throw up your hands, laugh, and call a professional.  Our big mission of the morning was getting the TV off the wall of our apartment so we could transfer it to our new house and hook up the cable/Internet.  We thought it would be a piece of cake – [...]

The Solution

Do you know what the solution to being overwhelmed is?  Besides buckling down and actually being productive, of course. EATING OUT!   A dinner out with the Husband was exactly what I needed after a long work day.  He got a margarita; I stared at it with intense jealousy.  The lack of boozy fun aside, [...]

BabyHTP: 29 Weeks

Dear BabyHTP:  On the 29th week of your development, we moved into your first house.  Hooray!   Here’s what BabyHTP is up to this week: “Your baby now weighs about 2 1/2 pounds (like a butternut squash) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. His muscles and lungs are continuing [...]

Whelmed

Last week at Girls on the Run, we were discussing emotions and went over a list of emotional responses, like joy, contentment, shame, and anger.  Some of the girls didn’t know what the word ‘overwhelmed’ meant so I asked someone to explain.  One of the fourth graders raised her hand and said, “I know what [...]

Goodbye, Pool

Today was my last swim at the Charlotte Aquatic Center. So sad!    A few months ago v. today… different swimsuits, obviously.   Why was it my last swim?  Well, the pool isn’t exactly next door to our new house, so I decided to cancel my membership and join a gym with a pool that [...]

What if wearing makeup was part of your job description? Please check out The Naked Face Project website and my introduction to TNFP to get a complete understanding of the intention behind the Project.   One of the common remarks that I’ve heard about TNFP is that I can’t understand what it’s like to have to [...]

5 Sleeps to Go

Good evening!  Look – the moon is smiling tonight. I’m pretty satisfied by our decision not to find out our baby’s sex, but man – there are some days that I am just DYING to find out.  Soon enough, I guess.  Anyway, the bump and I took James on a walk this afternoon.  I’m starting [...]

Ride the Wave

You know what would be amazing?  If, during all major life events, everything besides the event just… stopped.  Meaning that when you’re graduating from college, getting married, having a baby, changing jobs, or moving into a new house, those little fairies came and handled all your e-mails and projects, kept up with your housework, paid [...]

The last day of The Naked Face Project is this Saturday.  I can’t believe how fast the last 60 days flew by – I though that no makeup, shaving, or primping would make time move as slow as molasses! Please check out The Naked Face Project website and my introduction to TNFPto get a complete [...]
