The Best Pandora Station

in All Posts

Do you listen to Pandora?  I love Pandora!  I used to be really into Pandora One, the desktop Pandora app that costs about $3 a month (and allows you to listen commercial-free), but I recently switched back to regular Pandora radio.  Even with the commercials, it’s my favorite way to listen to music.

If you don’t know about Pandora, it uses ‘musical genomes’ to craft personalized radio stations that sound like your favorite artist or song.  I think the BEST Pandora station is the Brendan James station (Brendan James should be super famous; I have no clue why he isn’t more commercially successful!).

What’s your favorite Pandora station?  I like to exercise and clean to the Pitbull station.  Brendan is only good for working or relaxing!

Anyway – I hope you had a fabulous Sunday.  Our day was simple but nice.  After a long breakfast, MomHTP returned back to Tennessee, and the Husband and I ran errands.

Oh yes – those are little buds.  Spring is almost here in North Carolina!!!

Eats, Eats, Eats

Mom and Kristien barely woke up in time for cornbread quiche – I ate half the pie before they got out of bed – it was really tasty!  And then, for lunch, I had a baked tofu, corn relish, and spinach sammie with fruit.

I snacked on chips and salsa (twice as much as what’s shown).

And a PB and banana smoothie.

Time to rummage up a dinner!

Stay tuned for a fun ‘How to Develop a Walking Habit’ post, which will go up tomorrow.  I’ve become a walking queen lately – did another two miles today.  Whoop-whoop!

Walking Routine? Best way is to get a dog. Walk 2mi everyday with my pooch and then I workout.

  • Rachel February 26, 2012, 8:54 pm

I love my David Gray station, since I mostly listen to Pandora in the mornings. But what I don’t understand is how every single Pandora station has a version of “Hallelujah” to go along with it?!

    • tasha the clean eating mama February 26, 2012, 9:15 pm

I know!!!!!!! I have dis liked everyone of them…

      • Christena February 27, 2012, 7:02 pm

  • Jessica @ MyKindnessCounts February 26, 2012, 9:02 pm

I love Pandora! It’s my go-to at work and helps spice things up when data-entrying 😀

  • chelsey @ clean eating chelsey February 26, 2012, 9:02 pm

I love Pandora as well! I always listen to it while I’m working on my computer!

I love Pandora. I think its the best musical platform ever. I use it when I workout, at home (I don’t have a TV), in the car, at work…

Some of my favorite stations are:
    Noah and the whale
    iron and wine
    the head and the heart
    LMFAO (for workouts)
    led Zeppelin
    The Beatles

Your baby bump is looking great! I’m an only child too WOOT! my mom was so happy when she found out I was pregnant. There is such a bond between a grandchild and grandparents.

I have to thank you for motivating me to swim today. I’m trying to get into the habit of swimming regularly, but I haven’t been very good about it lately. Today, however, I thought ‘if Caitlin can get to the pool, so can I!’ And I did, for an invigorating half hour swim. So thank you!

    • Caitlin February 27, 2012, 9:28 am

      AWESOME. Way to go!!!!

  • Julia February 26, 2012, 9:18 pm

I love that you love Brendan James!! He should be super famous – I agree! Funny story, I went on the John Mayer cruise about 4 years ago, and Brendan James was an act on the boat, along with Guster, OAR, and all those fabulous people. BRENDAN JAMES WAS IN THE CABIN ROOM RIGHT ACROSS FROM MINE. We locked eyes and small talked a few times. He’s dreamy and super sweet!

    • Caitlin February 27, 2012, 9:27 am

I love this!! I love that you went on the John mayer cruise, too.

  • Katie @ Peace Love & Oats February 26, 2012, 9:19 pm

I’ve never heard of Brendan James! My favorite Pandora Station is my S Club 7 station… it plays all the music I loved in middle school. We’re talking Backstreet Boys, NSync, Christina Aguilera, Brittany… It’s fantastic for a mood lift!

  • Lauren February 26, 2012, 9:20 pm

My pandora station is on ALL the time! I’ll have to check out Brandon James…right now I’m really into James Morrison. Great stuff.

  • Caroline February 26, 2012, 9:21 pm

I’m not much of a walker – so I’m looking forward to being inspired by your post!

  • Jamie @ Don't Forget the Cinnamon February 26, 2012, 9:25 pm

I love my Brett Dennen pandora station!

  • Lee February 26, 2012, 9:26 pm

I like the Mumford & Sons station a lot.

  • Megan @ MegGoesNomNom February 26, 2012, 9:30 pm

I love Pandora too. I am currently listening to my fave station – the Florence + the Machine station.

  • Sana February 26, 2012, 9:36 pm

I teach a walking class with the staff at the university I go to. And I just love it, we all talk and walk a mile at lunch 3 days a week. Best part of my day!

  • Hillary February 26, 2012, 10:20 pm

I’m converted to Brendan James now! Thanks!

  • Alex February 26, 2012, 10:55 pm

I love Brenden James! My favorite station is my Kelly Clarkson station that I’ve added Taylor Swift and Jason Mraz to. Matt Nathanson is amazing too though

  • Kate February 26, 2012, 11:17 pm

I second your feelings about Brendan James! I play his music for my students all the time (I teach middle school) – it’s the perfect balance of soothing yet groovy (am I allowed to use that word?). Anyway, I just saw a commercial for the Golf Channel that used his “Nothing for Granted” as the soundtrack, so maybe more commercial success is in the works for him, literally and figuratively.

    • Caitlin February 27, 2012, 9:25 am

      I still say groovy LOL

      • Kate February 27, 2012, 5:00 pm

It’s definitely because we’re both classy, groovy ladies 😉

  • TanyaS February 26, 2012, 11:34 pm

Can’t get Pandora in Canada anymore 🙁 Janga.com is the next best thing.

  • Jen February 26, 2012, 11:43 pm

Pandora rules! I love The Civil Wars station. They are amazing and the other artists they play are awesome too.

  • Khushboo Thadani February 27, 2012, 12:24 am

Thanks for clearing up what Pandora is- we don’t get it in Mumbai so I had no clue what it was when other bloggers would mention it! It sounds great!

  • Amber P February 27, 2012, 12:30 am

Caitlin, if you use Mozilla Firefox with the AdBlockPlus add-on, there will be no ads on regular Pandora 🙂

same for pretty much any streaming media…better if you also use the NoScript add on as well.

    • Caitlin February 27, 2012, 9:24 am

      NICEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • Elisabeth February 27, 2012, 2:49 am

I LOVE Brendan James! I bought his first two CDs after I saw Kath & you talking about him on the blogs 🙂

  • Lindsey February 27, 2012, 7:49 am

I love Pandora, too! I listen to a station I created mixing Jason Mraz, Adele, and Jack Johnson at work…and a much more upbeat one I named “Divalicious” for when I work out 🙂

  • Cait @ Beyond Bananas February 27, 2012, 8:08 am

I LOVE the 90’s station! Always fun to hear those throwbacks!!

  • Charise February 27, 2012, 9:13 am

I’m a Brendan James fan too – have seen him twice in concert in my town after hearing you + Kath talk about him over the last year or so.

My fave Pandora station for cleaning/house projects is Dev, and for chilling out/work background music, it’s The Head and The Heart station.

  • Carolina John February 27, 2012, 9:42 am

Search Pandora for a band called Slow Runner. You will not be dissapointed. Yes, I’m biased because it’s my brother. His music has nothing to do with running. but you’re in his target demographic and would love his stuff.

  • Michelle February 27, 2012, 11:36 am

I’ll add Brenden James to my pandora station list.
Embarrassing but SUPER effective pandora station for working out? Katy Perry. 🙂

  • Stellina @ My Yogurt Addiction February 27, 2012, 11:36 am

The “Love Song” station is my favorite Pandora station!

  • Anna February 27, 2012, 12:07 pm

My favorite lately has been the Feist station..its a perfect variety of music for doing work!

  • Amber K February 27, 2012, 1:39 pm

I don’t know if I’ve ever used Pandora. I used some sort of radio station type thing years ago, but it could never figure out what kind of music I liked. And it only let you skip 2-3 songs at a time and I’d always be kicking myself for skipping one that I only kinda liked only to get stuck with a song that I hated.

  • Lauren Zietsman February 27, 2012, 6:38 pm

Sondre Lerche!! Listen to that station right now…for reals.

  • Terri February 28, 2012, 6:08 pm

    I <3 Matt Nathanson

  • Leah March 2, 2012, 11:31 am

OK I know I’m late on commenting on this post, but I had to come back and say thanks so much for the Brendan James suggestion – love it!! My other fav pandora station is a mix, but my suggestion to everyone would be to check out Matt Wertz!

  • Katie M March 10, 2012, 6:26 pm

Pandora is a seriously amazing resource. I can’t believe how much music the creators were (and still are) able to get into it- it is so all-inclusive! My favorite stations are She & Him, Adele, and Beyonce probably. I just made a new station based on Pursuit of Happiness by Kid Cudi and it is pretty great- a cool hip hop collaboration. I look forward to checking out this Brendan James person.
Also I just want to say that the sliced apple in your picture looks like it was amazingly delicious; I hope it was. Haha!
