Hurrah, Me!

in All Posts

This morning, I really wanted to do something that I could be proud of accomplishing.  Go into the week with a good attitude, you know?  So even though I hate Mondays and hate morning workouts, I hauled my booty (plus BabyHTP) to the gym.

Photographic evidence:

photo

Was it the hardest workout ever?  Um, no.  But I felt so good about myself after doing 20 minutes on the elliptical and some weight lifting.  It’s all about the little things.  It really is.

Pre-workout smoothie – this was a good one.

In the blender:

1 cup vanilla soy milk

2 tablespoons sunflower butter

1 frozen banana

And post-workout, an egg and cheese sammie that I inhaled in the car on the way to work.

Who else got Monday off to a good start?  Hurrah, you!

Hooray for accomplishing Monday morning workouts! I SO could’ve slept in today, and the single-digit temps weren’t helping persuade me to get up, but I’m glad I did. There’s no better feeling than starting the day off with some sweat!

  • Coco February 13, 2012, 11:03 am

Yay for starting the day (and the week) on a positive note. That’s why I keep reading your blog after 3+ years!!!

  • kathleen @ the daily crumb February 13, 2012, 11:07 am

yay caitlin + baby HTP! the little things add up 🙂 have a great monday!

  • Jamie @ Don't Forget the Cinnamon February 13, 2012, 11:07 am

Woohoo!! Life really is all about the little things…
And I LOVE simple banana and nut (or seed!) butter smoothies!

  • Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat February 13, 2012, 11:08 am

Congrats on the workout Caitlin! I’m feeling pretty good about Monday too – taught my spin class this morning and am pumped for a tea date tonight with one of my friends. Happy Monday!

  • Brittnie (A Joy Renewed) February 13, 2012, 11:08 am

I love productive Mondays! I have today off work so I am plowing through my to do list – written 3 thank you notes, vacuumed house, put away laundry and unpack from our weekend trip and I’m about to head to get some groceries for the week! Have a great day.

  • Kadye February 13, 2012, 11:09 am

Yay for making it to the gym this morning. And it’s a Monday morning to boot!

  • Christine @ BookishlyB February 13, 2012, 11:12 am

I just hauled my butt out of bed for yoga in 50 minutes. Up before 8 on a day off. It better be worth it.

  • Katie @ Peace Love & Oats February 13, 2012, 11:16 am

I had to get up at 5 to be at the gym at 5:30 when it opened, and still had to act like a crazy person trying to rush home, shower and catch a bus to school! But at least I got my 5 miles in!

  • Liz @ Tip Top Shape February 13, 2012, 11:16 am

I started my day off with a delicious egg-ham-cheese-jam sandwich. Definitely a great start 😀 Enjoy the rest of your day!

  • Anna February 13, 2012, 11:17 am

Good for you girl! Today is my rest day so I used my extra time to start an assignment I had planned to start all weekend but never got to. Feels good to be productive 🙂

  • Rebecca February 13, 2012, 11:19 am

My roommate and I get up at 7 to get to class by 7:40 MWF. I have a five-hour break between the end of my first class and the beginning of my afternoon class. Today I came back from class and took out the trash, which has needed to be taken out for a while. It took me less than five minutes, but I haven’t had enough motivation to do it for the last few days. Feels good to have it done. I’m thinking about doing dishes now…
I’ve been listening to a church sermon (from this weekend) for a bit now, which is pretty interesting. 🙂

  • Khushboo February 13, 2012, 11:23 am

Way to go on your workout! I never miss my MOnday morning workout as it always gets my week off to a great start!

  • KatieTX February 13, 2012, 11:32 am

I taught an indoor cycle class at 5:45am. I tell my class that gives them permission to feel more awesome than anyone else who was still asleep by the time you were DONE with your workout.

  • Stellina @ My Yogurt Addiction February 13, 2012, 11:33 am

Good for you! Still haven’t gotten to the gym today, but I will around lunch time! 🙂 Happy Moooonday!

  • Sara February 13, 2012, 11:34 am

While I’d rather sit at my desk, I’m going for a 2+ mile jog w/ a co-worker at lunch. Go me!

  • Courtney Leigh February 13, 2012, 11:34 am

In some ways this morning started off ROUGH! I woke up at 5:39. 40 minutes after my alarm was supposed to go off and 9 minutes after I was supposed to already be out the door and on my way to early morning yoga. But after just a momentary consideration of just staying in bed and sleeping for another hour, I was up and flying through the house, discovering that I had packed my pants the night before instead of laying them out. Yoga was great and then I got to gym to shower and discovered that when I had mistakenly packed my pants I had forgotten to pack a towel. At least I had my oversized sweatshirt to dry off with. Each of these things could have started the day off on a very wrong foot, but I chose to see humor in it all and instead I just can’t stop smiling today.

  • KSW February 13, 2012, 11:34 am

Hey me too! I usually work out after work, but I have started to get tired of losing half my evening to changing, working out and showering.
I decided yesterday “That’s it! You are waking up early and working out in the morning!”

Guess what? I did it! I did Gillian Michael’s shred at 6:00 this morning. I am SO not a morning person so this is a shocker 🙂

I can barely walk to the bathroom now, but it was all worth it – LOL

Now I can go home after work and relax – love it!

  • JennB@BeMe February 13, 2012, 11:36 am

Awww…you and the baby look so cute!

  • Katie February 13, 2012, 11:47 am

Such a cute little baby bump! And yes, it really IS all about the little thing. 🙂

  • Amanda February 13, 2012, 11:52 am

Monday workouts are the greatest! Went to the pool this morning and ended it with a wonderful sauna! It always puts me in a much better mood for the rest of the week 🙂

  • Amber @ Busy, Bold, Blessed February 13, 2012, 11:54 am

Look at that bump!!!! My accomplishment this morning was that I packed a healthy lunch, woot!

  • CJ @ http://healthy-happy-whole.com February 13, 2012, 11:59 am

that smoothie DOES sound fabulous! i am always hesitant to make smoothies because they are on my list of fear foods for some odd reason…probably because when I make them i add sunwarrior chocolate, almond milk, nut butter, fruit, etc. and it just tastes so darn sinful. but as always, you inspire me with your positivity 🙂
maybe my good desicion for today should be to challenge said fear food?!

  • Kelly February 13, 2012, 12:00 pm

ME!! I went to an amazing vinyasa yoga class this morning. Namaste.

  • Amanda February 13, 2012, 12:11 pm

Over the past few months I have totally switched my schedule and now get up to go to the gym before work. I took a 5:45 spin class this morning and love that I have no obligation after work! It’s also motivation to get to bed earlier!

  • Kris February 13, 2012, 12:33 pm

    Aw, the cutest baby bump!

  • Shrinking mommy of 2 February 13, 2012, 12:33 pm

I did, I did!! I actually did 3 miles at 5am. I use to do that but have been “lazy” on my exercise. I always get up early but I try to do the easiest routine!

    Yeah me!

  • Amanda February 13, 2012, 12:39 pm

I brought back a written to-do list for today to help make my Monday less painful. I used to be the queen of making lists, but recently I’ve been trying to just remember everything and it’s taking up way too much mental space and making me even more stressed. So nice to see everything on paper and get to physically cross things off my list!

  • Ali February 13, 2012, 12:40 pm

I did! I did the 60-minute Bob Harper’s Ultimate Cardio Body and now feel awesome! 🙂 Happy Monday!

  • Becca @ Blueberry Smiles February 13, 2012, 12:48 pm

Totally agree with the power of a Monday morning workout! I felt so much better after 45 minutes on the treadmill this am.

  • Cm @ Lazy Healthy February 13, 2012, 12:54 pm

I’ve never been a morning workout person. I wonder if that will be possible for me someday?

  • Stephanie @ Legally Blinde February 13, 2012, 1:00 pm

I do love working out in the morning, and I was lucky to have enough time today to take two classes at the gym: TurboKick (60 minutes) and a precision strength class (45 minutes). Felt so good! You’re right, it’s so nice to have a good start to the week 🙂 Love the picture, btw, you look adorable!

  • Coco February 13, 2012, 1:01 pm

Good for you girl! Your looking great.. and hey getting the to gym at all on a Monday can be a task.. I am starting week 7 in the Livefit program.. and it was almost 2 hours at the gym, a little overkill but I’m more than halfway done with the program.. so have to stick it out now!

  • Sara February 13, 2012, 1:09 pm

I had every intention of waking up at 5:30 and running this morning, but my bed felt so warm and it was 25 degrees out. After work it will be then!

  • Amber K February 13, 2012, 1:23 pm

Well the only productive thing I’ve done so far is eat breakfast. So now I’ve gotta actually tackle some of my to-do list!

  • Brittany @a healthy slice February 13, 2012, 1:25 pm

Oh I needed to read this- thank you. I’m going on only a little sleep and was contemplating the gym, but now, I’m inspired and must go. ThNks 🙂

  • Poptartyogini February 13, 2012, 1:28 pm

Good for you!! It always means so much more when it is a challenge to do it.

  • Shelley February 13, 2012, 1:42 pm

Well I was going to skip my workout today because I’ve been feeling off/possibly getting sick/really tired but your post has motivated me. So down to the basement I go for an easy elliptical workout. Might not be as intense as usual but it’ll still be beneficial! Thanks for the motivation!

  • Ashley February 13, 2012, 1:49 pm

I just have to say that you look absolutely gorgeous in that photo! You’ve got an incredible baby/workout/naked face glow to you! Glad you are feeling so good on this Monday 🙂

  • Lindsay @ Salt, Sun & Sanity February 13, 2012, 2:25 pm

I agree with the above- you look beautiful 🙂 And it doesn’t matter how little or how much you do if you feel GOOD about it! I started my week off right by running my favorite 7 mile route down to the beach. Nothing makes me feel happier than endorphins and the ocean!

  • Catherine February 13, 2012, 2:39 pm

I love your cute, little baby bumpage! But your egg and cheese sandwich stressed me out because now I want to run home and make one!

  • Erin February 13, 2012, 2:46 pm

    Congrats in the workout!
The most I’ve managed to do as far as workouts while pregnant is walking. I should definitely add some weights back into my routine.
Question: Do you eat runny eggs now that you are pregnant? I have heard it’s not recommended, but they are my favorite!

  • becca @ bellebottoms February 13, 2012, 2:56 pm

I started my day off with a great bowl of greek yogurt…which took me all the way to lunch without any hunger! you are so right…the little things really matter!

  • laura February 13, 2012, 2:56 pm

hey caitlin! i have a question about acupuncture. i actually made my first appointment in the upcoming week thanks to your blog! i looked through your acupuncture 101 post and couldn’t find anything about what to wear to the appointment. do you have any suggestions as to what types of clothes to wear? thanks for your help!

    • Caitlin February 15, 2012, 8:18 am

Sorry it took me so long to write back! I would recommend wearing loose pants (at the ankle so the doc can push up your pants to get to your lower leg), and a loose top. He will prob put you in a gown to access your back if he does back acupuncture.

      • laura February 15, 2012, 8:57 pm

awesome, thanks so much for your response! im super psyched to finally go!

  • Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife February 13, 2012, 3:05 pm

I did too!! CONGRATS on getting to the gym 🙂

  • Kristen@Change of Pace February 13, 2012, 3:13 pm

It was really hard for me to get going this morning. It didn’t help that this weekend flew by way too fast. You look so cute with your preggers belly!

  • Jen@FoodFamilyFitness February 13, 2012, 3:16 pm

I love morning workouts, it’s the only time of day I get to myself! I did 50 minutes on the treadmill and some ab work.

  • Julia February 13, 2012, 3:26 pm

    Hey Caitlin,

I guess that’s my first comment ever (hurrah, me!^^), but the glow on your face and the cute belly are just worth commenting on! You look adorable and happy!
    Best wishes from Germany!

  • Linz @ Itz Linz February 13, 2012, 3:45 pm

I did! I did! Legs workout at 5:30am, baby! Plus, school got called early because of weather, so I got to come home at two which is FABULOUS! 🙂

  • Carly February 13, 2012, 3:59 pm

I did! I ran 5K this AM! 🙂 Feeling awesome… it really does start the week off right!

  • Jaclyn February 13, 2012, 5:03 pm

I love your “it’s all about the little things”.. it really is! seriously, your real-isms and struggle for motivations.. motivate me! And look at that HTP baby bump!! 😀 I guess I got my MOnday off to a good start by walking to work – and have plans for HOT yoga or an elliptical sesh later 🙂

  • Katie February 13, 2012, 5:42 pm

You are looking so cute pregnant 🙂

  • Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin February 13, 2012, 6:41 pm

Congrats on your workout! I got my sweat on after class today with some ellipticaling and a back/shoulders workout. 😀

  • Tricia February 13, 2012, 6:50 pm

Now I feel bad I didn’t work out!!! My splitting headache barely let me move to get out the door for work, let alone my Monday morning workout!

  • Amy@ahealthyandhappyheart February 13, 2012, 6:54 pm

Work it girl! I did the pretty much the same workout today! Love your bump 🙂

  • Eileen February 13, 2012, 8:55 pm

Congratulations! It does feel good to get some exercise and energy! You inspired me to do my first 5k, so today I ran 1 mile just to ease into the whole training process, and it was actually not that bad! I can’t wait to run tomorrow and now you’ve motivated me even more! 😀

  • Luv What You Do February 13, 2012, 9:26 pm

I got myself on the treadmill before 7AM! 5 miles in 40 minutes!

I love those simple smoothies. Sometimes I add cacao powder to mine (with the nana and nut butter). It is a little something different and so delish!

  • Dominique February 13, 2012, 9:50 pm

I didn’t work out today but got up on time, instead of pressing the snooze button again. I ended up being late to work anyway since the subway was delayed but it was nice, knowing that I made the effort to get up and show up to work on time.
