Just Another Manic Wednesday

in All Posts

Oh, friends.  It’s just one of those days!  Very dreary outside, and I think it’s impacted my mood.  I was quite productive this morning, but my attention span and desire to check items off my To Do list are seriously waning.

2011-09-21_1545

I did, however, find time to work at the clinic and hold several conference calls.  Lots of exciting speaking events coming up very, very soon.

And send out guilt-trippy emails.  This is the bag in question.

2011-09-21_1355

PS – That email will never work.

In between patients, we went out to lunch.  Although we were not celebrating the acquisition of my new purse, the Husband and I did eat out today to celebrate a milestone at his business.  A successful day for the Hus, indeed!

IMG_1282

I know – water is boring.  It was a working lunch, you see?

Salad:

IMG_1288

Lots buried underneath: brie cheese, chickpeas, corn, pecans, carrots, cucumbers, and strawberries.

IMG_1273 IMG_1277

My sister-in-law baked shortbread-caramel-chocolate squares and brought one in for me.

IMG_1271

I promptly went into sugar shock.  Munching on several handfuls of Puffins cereal did not help.

So – yes.  That’s my Wednesday morning and afternoon in a cr-azy nutshell.  What have you been up to?  Squeeze in that workout?  Slam dunk a meeting?  Lay on the couch and watch reruns of Teen Mom?

Awesome email! I should do that…..

I’ve read one of my many new books, deep conditioned my hair, and am about to go shooting!

  • Victoria (District Chocoholic) September 21, 2011, 4:05 pm

I am sitting in a meeting in Chicago 0.3 miles from an awesome chocolate shop unable to go because we must spend an hour discussing fonts and indents to be used in technical standards.

    • Caitlin September 21, 2011, 4:06 pm

whhhhat! get thee to the chocolate shop!

      • Victoria (District Chocoholic) September 21, 2011, 4:07 pm

If only. They close at 5 and there is a negative 200% chance we’ll be done by then.

        • Caitlin September 21, 2011, 4:08 pm

Just scream – INDENT THAT and FONT THIS. And run away.

        • Victoria (District Chocoholic) September 21, 2011, 4:08 pm

That could be a career-limiting move. It’s more fun to snark about the meeting on twitter.

        • Caitlin September 21, 2011, 4:11 pm

How are you meeting and tweeting and commenting?! Is this one of those stupid meetings in which only two people talk and everyone else looks bored? those are the worse.

        • Victoria (District Chocoholic) September 21, 2011, 4:12 pm

          More like 1 person talking

        • Caitlin September 21, 2011, 4:13 pm

          Shut the font door.

  • Kelly September 21, 2011, 4:06 pm

Whhhhhhy did you show me this bag? *hiding wallet*

    • Caitlin September 21, 2011, 4:06 pm

      there’s only ONE left!!!!

      • Kelly September 21, 2011, 4:08 pm

        Oh that is just mean!

  • Casey @ Pocket Full of Sunshine September 21, 2011, 4:06 pm

I’m trying to work at home and am being equally unproductive. Now you’re given me more to distract myself with—I’m checking out that bag. 🙂

  • Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat September 21, 2011, 4:06 pm

Oooh the bag is so gorgeous!!! The Hus clearly knows how to earn Good Husband points now!! 🙂 Today I’ve managed to tackle the majority of my work to-do list, returned 3 non-work emails that really needed responses, grabbed some groceries on my lunch break, and wrote a blog post. But motivation is seriously waning now and I’ve got a strong strong desire to do nothing but go home, eat dinner, and cozy up in bed with a book tonight!

  • Gina @ Running to the Kitchen September 21, 2011, 4:06 pm

Your tweet is NOT giving me the motivation I need to hop on the bike for 15 miles at 5! I think I’d much rather nap 😉
My husband would promptly delete that email, it would never work. haha

  • Susan September 21, 2011, 4:14 pm

I looked at the weather for the next ten days. 7 out of the ten days have rain. 7. Really? Really? Not awesome.

  • Heather September 21, 2011, 4:14 pm

I have literally spent my entire afternoon running around the office answering questions and organizing stuff. I loved every minute of it. However, my own to do list did not get as much attention as it deserved.

  • Mindy September 21, 2011, 4:16 pm

I had quite the productive day at work – but now I’ve got 20ish minutes before my day is done and I’m antsy. Ready to go home!!! Except not really home, because I’m house/dog sitting so that home.

  • Holly @ The Runny Egg September 21, 2011, 4:18 pm

Congrats to your hubby — business milestones are always nice!

  • erica September 21, 2011, 4:18 pm

    very nice bag!!!

  • Michelle @ Turning Over a New Leaf September 21, 2011, 4:20 pm

    Oooh cute bag!

Still shave your legs regularly? Define regularly? Haha! I probably shave my legs on average twice a month…MAYBE. And that’s the way it has been since long before I got married. I guess that can be considered consistent? 😉

    • Caitlin September 21, 2011, 4:20 pm

Wait – once a week is ‘regularly’ right???

      • deva @ deva by definition September 21, 2011, 4:27 pm

I don’t like it when my legs get stubbly because they then itch, so I’m a 3x a week girl.

yes I did just type that.

      • Peter September 21, 2011, 4:31 pm

haha – when I was racing I shaved every other day!

        • jen September 21, 2011, 7:16 pm

once a week for me! after 10 years of being w my boy…

    • Beth @ 990 Square September 21, 2011, 8:54 pm

You all must be blessed with light hair…my husband has nothing to do with my leg shaving. My desire to wear skirts does!

      • Amber K September 22, 2011, 12:33 pm

lol, that’s exactly what I was thinking. My hair is DARK. and if I don’t take care of it, people run away in fear. Okay, not really, but it bugs me!

  • Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga September 21, 2011, 4:24 pm

    shortbread-caramel-chocolate squares = NICE!!!

And that bag is great. Get it!!!

  • Trish September 21, 2011, 4:25 pm

Sweet bag. I like. The husband should totally buy it for you. A nice surprise just because. 🙂 I vote for that! LOL!

  • Dana September 21, 2011, 4:27 pm

Where was your lunch?? I have family that lives in Charlotte and we ate at Bad Daddy’s…I always think about it because I LOVED the salad bar. Your bowl of salad reminded me of it!

ps. I’m letterpressing your Operation Beautiful coasters this weekend!

    • Caitlin September 21, 2011, 4:29 pm

It was at Bad Daddys! So good.

Cannot wait for the coasters. Thanks again!

  • kathleen @ the daily crumb September 21, 2011, 4:28 pm

HA! well i can tell you what i have NOT been up to today… shaving my legs!!!

  • Stefanie-Anne September 21, 2011, 4:29 pm

What are you celebrating? What is the milestone? Curious!

    • Caitlin September 21, 2011, 4:33 pm

We are looking at bigger office space 🙂

      • Stefanie-Anne September 21, 2011, 4:42 pm

Ah, CONGRATS! That’s so exciting 🙂

      • Amber from Girl with the Red Hair September 21, 2011, 6:38 pm

        That is awesome news!!!

  • Sunny September 21, 2011, 4:31 pm

Is that the same bag as thatwife in a different color? I loved the apple green one she posted today but that coral is even better!

    Buy it! =)

    • Caitlin September 21, 2011, 4:33 pm

      YES!

  • Kate (What Kate is Cooking) September 21, 2011, 4:34 pm

Laying on the couch and watching Teen Mom = my after work plans 🙂

    • Stefanie-Anne September 21, 2011, 4:43 pm

      lol me TOO!

  • Sarena (The Non Dairy Queen) September 21, 2011, 4:34 pm

I wish I could say I’ve been as productive as this. I went to work, shopped around for a car that I do not want to have to buy, started dinner and I am about to fold laundry…as you can see, I’m procrastinating on the last one.

  • Stephanie @ Food and Fitness 4 Real September 21, 2011, 4:43 pm

I was in Italy for work this week, so after our meetings ended around noon I went for run! It was my effort to fight the jetlag that always hits in the middle of the day. Now I am overnighting in Frankfurt, Germany and will fly home to Dallas tomorrow. I am finally catching on blog reading – I have been without my phone since Sunday and limited internet access only!

  • Hilliary @ Happily Ever Healthy September 21, 2011, 4:45 pm

I am sick of gray and rainy days, those types of days I feel so unproductive! I love the purse though!

  • Christina September 21, 2011, 4:47 pm

**this is not meant in a snarky or judgemental way at all**

Do you realize that bag is made of leather?

    • Caitlin September 21, 2011, 4:51 pm

I didn’t even THINK to look! Thank you for reminding me!!! I try to avoid buying leather products but sometimes I am dazed by the pretty shoe/purse and forgot.

      • Christina September 21, 2011, 4:58 pm

I think we can all attest to being hypnotized by a nice looking bag from time to time 🙂

      • Ashley @ Cooking for John September 21, 2011, 9:40 pm

I was going to comment on this, but glad to see someone else did first! 🙂
The bag is adorable though!! I got the best faux-leather bag for my birthday this year from a cute boutique.

  • Dominique September 21, 2011, 5:02 pm

Hahaha, I love that email! I send emails like that to Sean all the time but they usually involve photos of dogs. Your lunch looks yummy! My day involved a major migraine that just went away now after a long nap but I woke up in a sweat. Now I feel really hot and have no idea what’s going on. Crappy weather day = crappy me day.

  • Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife September 21, 2011, 5:08 pm

Taught a BodyPUMP class, read, worked worked worked! 🙂

I finished reading “Water For Elephants”<—-SO good!

  • Ally September 21, 2011, 5:09 pm

That email is amazing! The part about shaving legs had me dying.

  • Michelle September 21, 2011, 5:11 pm

Bag the run, get on your bike at the house and get some activity in! I DON’T want to head to the gym right now, but am trying to stay focused!

  • dani September 21, 2011, 5:37 pm

    impressive!
i’ve only been married for six months and shaving my legs is already pretty low on the priority list… good work, my husband would be jealous 🙂

  • Ashley September 21, 2011, 5:52 pm

OMG! I was at Big Daddy’s for lunch today too! I was there between 11-12’ish. Hate I missed you! 🙂

    • Caitlin September 22, 2011, 9:13 am

aw that would’ve been so fun!

  • Katy (The Singing Runner) September 21, 2011, 5:52 pm

Mmmm the shortbread looks amazing! 🙂

P.S- I love the little pictures on the sidebar for different categories… is this the beginnings of the big blog makeover? 😉

  • Hillary September 21, 2011, 5:55 pm

Shortbread, caramel, chocolate bars? Um, I might need that recipe.

Got in a workout this afternoon, even though I would have much rather taken a nap. But, as per usual, I’m glad I worked out!

  • SaraRM September 21, 2011, 6:01 pm

“I still shave my legs….” HILLARIOUS!!! But oh so true..

  • Meredith September 21, 2011, 6:01 pm

totally feeling you! it’s gross here too 🙁 i feel so lazy now!

  • Sarah @ w30 September 21, 2011, 6:10 pm

I started out the day determined, but the combination of a migraine and building head-cold has derailed my motivation. Oh, and also maybe the fact that I am a GIANT BABY when I don’t feel well … maybe.
I saw on twitter that you had a headache yesterday. What finally helped? I’ve had this thing since MONDAY! Halp!

Also – very BIG CONGRATS to the Husband! 🙂

    • Caitlin September 22, 2011, 9:14 am

It went away after I put an ice pack on my forehead. I hope you feel better!

  • Julia H. @ The Petite Spiel September 21, 2011, 6:37 pm

Hold the phone. Shortbread-caramel-chocolate squares?! I just drooled a little.

  • Amber from Girl with the Red Hair September 21, 2011, 6:37 pm

Oh my gawd that bag. It’s gorgeous. Whyyy did you have to post that 😛 Now I’m lusting over it and I really do not need ANOTHER bag and especially not that expensive of one! Lol

  • Sara @ RunnerWife September 21, 2011, 7:05 pm

It sounds about like my day. I was the only one of 3 employees that does my job at work today and was running around crazy ALL day. Then when I got home to go get my 7 mile run in, the rain only allowed me 4.7 – hey there is ALWAYS tomorrow 🙂

    P.S. that bag is beautiful!!

  • Rebecca September 21, 2011, 7:11 pm

That bag is gorgeous! I love it in the brown color! It would be a great gift. Maybe your husband will get the hint!

  • Rebecca September 21, 2011, 7:12 pm

Those shortbread-caramel-chocolate squares look delicious! You’re sister in law seems to be quite the baker!

  • Abby @ Abz 'n' Oats September 21, 2011, 7:14 pm

lol. I love the signature on your email to the hus! :)3 years of leg shaving totally deserves a new handbag I’d say! I have been up since 4:25 AM. I had clinical today so I have been a busy bee. Waiting around to go to yoga in a few. Can’t wait to release some tension and zen out!

  • DadHTP September 21, 2011, 7:22 pm

I’m shocked – like the other guy, I shaved daily or every other day just to intimidate riders – ok, testosterone OD – but, ladies!

  • amanda September 21, 2011, 7:30 pm

the email is really funny. i could see my sister sending her husband something like that.

i just noticed the bars up the right hand side of the page — cute!! (if they’re not new, sorry for the slow uptake) one thing, the speller in me is calling out — there’s a typo on the header, “oh, controversy.” no e before the y….or is that the controversy? 😉

    • Caitlin September 22, 2011, 9:15 am

Thank you SOOO much for telling me! I fixed it.

  • Maren September 21, 2011, 7:32 pm

love the bag! I wasn’t much more productive. I worked all day (didn’t get up before work to workout). Came home. ordered pizza. Ate pizza and drank wine. Still no workout. 🙂

  • mi-an d. September 21, 2011, 7:39 pm

not productive here either…we were in the morning (studying hard) then around noontime, we decide to go for a walk (2 miles) around the lake, it was really hot (and got so hungry) so we went to sweet tomatoes for lunch (salad and soup buffet) then came home and now napping (well the guy is) but we were suppose to be studying!! base on our skej! oh well.

  • Hilary September 21, 2011, 7:57 pm

what a daaay. law school classes until 7 pm! cray cray. BUT redeeming point: there was a debate at the law school about the NC marriage amendment (i go to UNC) and the legislator who introduced the bill and the minority whip of the house came in and debated it. Obviously there were law students protesting the amendment to greet them at the door to the law school 🙂 it was really interesting!! and the minority whip kicked major booty.

  • katie @ KatieDid September 21, 2011, 7:58 pm

hmm I got my vo2 ma tested, that was fun! And then I made yourrr chocolate dipped brownie balls. They were falling apart as I tried dipping them in chocolate, so they are sitting in the freezer right now waiting to be dunked, hope it works! The crumbled one tasted mighty delicious though so if all else fails I’ll throw them all in a bowl and eat it with a spoon 😉

  • thatShortChick September 21, 2011, 8:04 pm

looove the bag and congrats to you and your husband’s business success!

  • Lauren September 21, 2011, 8:13 pm

Haha, I send emails to my husband like that ALL the time! Pictures definitely help. 🙂

  • Christine @ BookishlyB September 21, 2011, 8:21 pm

Hahahahahaha- love the shaves the legs part…

  • Mary September 21, 2011, 8:44 pm

I for SURE did the last one… and I did not go for a run either… and I don’t care. Tomorrow is a new day. Teen mom obv trumps all.

  • Katie @ Peace Love and Oats September 21, 2011, 8:47 pm

Law school all day, just now getting on the bus to go home 🙁

  • Dani September 21, 2011, 9:06 pm

    That bag is adorable!

  • Christena September 21, 2011, 9:07 pm

    Recovering from surgery.

Also, I want to say that I totally admire you for being such a motivated self-starter (I clicked on your speaking link). I have no doubt that you are good at what you do, but you have a drive and a confidence about your message that I think is super rare for your (our) age (I’m not that much older than you). How do you know HOW to do all that you do? Anyway, congratulations and thanks for what you do.

    • Caitlin September 22, 2011, 9:16 am

I hope you feel up soon!

How do I know how to do it?? Hmm i dunno! I think this is just my god-given talent… I really enjoy what I do and am very passionate about the topic so that helps. Also, I don’t always know what I’m doing. I’ve crashed and burned a lot 🙂 Thank you though!

  • Rosa - Fitness, Food, Fulfilled September 21, 2011, 9:27 pm

You always seem to get so much done in one day! The variety must make the day fly by!

  • Khushboo September 22, 2011, 1:23 am

Shaving your legs regularly after 3 years of marriage??? You must really want that bag 😀

  • Mia September 22, 2011, 6:46 am

my husband is so awesome, I swear he bookmarks all the clothes, bags, accessories I send him, because I always end up getting the things I requested for my birthday or for holidays. I guess that’s one of the benefits of NOT sharing a bank account though, because neither one of us ever questions the other’s spending (as long as the mortgage and bills are paid every month). If we worked together I would never let him buy stuff like that and vice versa..

  • Shannon September 22, 2011, 8:40 am

Caitlin, this past summer I bought myself a similar bag — gorgeous, well-made, perfect color, expensive. I’d never had a really “quality” bag before, but I’d been searching for years for the ideal handbag for my life as a busy mom. I felt a little guilty and nervous about spending that kind of $ on myself (I’m a SAHM and we don’t make a ton of money), but I had done a pile of freelance work and had a little cash. I felt like I deserved to do something nice for myself for a change, and buy something that would truly last. (Also, I found a good deal on the price and shipping too.) So, the result is….I LOVE IT AND HAVE NOT HAD A MOMENT OF REGRET since it arrived. Anyway, just wanted to say I can relate to your bag lust and maybe you should just splurge and get it for yourself! 🙂

    • Caitlin September 22, 2011, 9:17 am

      ENABLER!! LOL

  • Amber K September 22, 2011, 12:35 pm

Hmm…I must send a similar e-mail to my husband. Although I’m less of a bag person and more of a “an iPad would be awesome…” girl 😉

  • Lexi @ A Spoonful of Sunshine September 22, 2011, 3:47 pm

Those large handfuls of puffins always SOUND like a good idea 😉

  • Sophie @ threetimesf September 25, 2011, 9:40 am

    Mmm that choc-shortbread looks delish!
