Nicole texted me around 5 and asked if I was in the mood for a walk.  I texted back, “Of course!” right away.  Walking breaks are good for the soul.  Especially when you’re writing on deadline.  Sometimes you’ve got to step away to end up more efficient and creative in the end.  Know what I mean?

Two hours later, she appeared on my doorstep, ready to go!  It was nice to move my body after staring at a computer screen for 8 hours.  That’s what friends are for.

Nicole’s spiritual wedding is SO soon (her legal wedding was last month).   Her and Isaac are getting married in Puerto Rico in October.  I can’t wait for a tropical vacation.  And the ceremony, of course.  Heh.

Mid-afternoon snack was an apple and sunflower butter.

Potatoes were bakin’ while we were walkin’.  Came home and put together this easy dinner:

Roasted yellow potatoes with BBQ sauce, salted edamame, and a veggie burger (Earth Fare brand) with hummus and sprouts.

Dark chocolate for dessert.

Oh, Maggie wants me to let you know that she liked reading all your comments on the Dogs in the Bed debate.  She offered to share pillow space with any pups out there.

On that note, going to go spoon the furbabies!

wowww what an exciting trip and wedding!! can’t wait for updates. On a different note, is everything okay around your area with earthquakes and all? I feel like things are speeding up throughout the world.

Oooh ! A PR wedding ! While in San Juan last summer, the resort I stayed in had an awesome gym looking over the beach and ocean, and one morning, I was on the elliptical and there was an Indian wedding ceremony going on on the beach! It was so interesting and amazingly beautiful!

Walking always helps me when I am feeling restless or stressed! I always try to get one in everyday! 🙂 Good for the heart and soul.

  • Army Amy* August 24, 2011, 11:03 pm

For some reason, reading about your walk inspired me. I ended up going out for a walk of my own!*

  • Christine @ BookishlyB August 24, 2011, 11:29 pm

Damn. I wish one of my friends or sisters would go get married somewhere cool so that I’d “have to” attend.

  • Kate (What Kate is Cooking) August 24, 2011, 11:51 pm

I love taking walks before or after dinner, but I rarely do it! Maybe tomorrow I will 🙂

sometimes a change of scenery is COMPLETELY necessary. whatever it works for getting the writing done by deadline, really…

i was an english major, and more papers than i can count were written after 3:00 in the morning. it’s when i was just just crazed enough to get my words out exactly how i wanted them. haha. hope your walk helped and you don’t have to subject yourself to that!

  • Sana August 25, 2011, 12:33 am

Bahaha, I love that you spoon with your furbabies!

  • Khushboo August 25, 2011, 12:44 am

Unplug and unwinding is def the key for efficiency- i bet you were able to look at your writing with a whole new perspective after the walk!

  • Eliza August 25, 2011, 3:32 am

Haha Maggie is so cute. I always think that the smooth freckly skin on pup’s tummies is adorable- but I am a weirdo

  • Yolie @ Practising Wellness August 25, 2011, 5:12 am

Aaaah, Maggie is sooo cute and cuddly <3 it must be so lovely to live next door (or so close) to such a great friend…how special! And your dinner? Divine 🙂 xyx

  • Alex August 25, 2011, 5:21 am

Totally agree with the healing power of walking breaks. Getting some fresh air and natural light always helps me clear my head.

And Maggie looks so effing cute in that picture… aww… makes me want to rub her round belly 🙂

I was just thinking last night how much I’m going to miss my evening walks once it starts to get cold and dark outside. Even 15 minutes around my neighborhood can completely transform my mood!

  • Laura @ My Reason to Tri August 25, 2011, 7:48 am

awww, so nice of maggie to share some pillow space. yep, walking (esp with a friend) is so refreshing!

  • Ash @ Good Taste Healthy Me August 25, 2011, 8:06 am

I so want to do a daily walk after dinner but my fiance can be such a poop sometimes. None of my friends live close-by either. 🙁

  • Amber K August 25, 2011, 12:38 pm

My husband and I did this last night for the first time this summer. Just a short walk (well we had to drive to where we walked because our neighborhood is a bit dicey). Was definitely nice.

  • Katie @ Peace Love and Oats August 25, 2011, 1:24 pm

That dinner looks delicious! I’m new to cooking and wanted to know, how did you prepare your potatoes? Do you bake them first and then cut them up and roast them in a pan?

  • Rosa - Fitness, Food, Fulfilled August 25, 2011, 2:05 pm

Walking is the perfect exercise when you want to catch up with a friend! You know all the talking has to increase the calorie burn.

  • Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin August 25, 2011, 4:10 pm

I love walking dates with friends! We always end up walking and talking for hours. It’s such a great time to reconnect!
