Change in the Air

in All Posts

Is this really happening?

IMG_9563

I think it is!  August 29 and the trees on my street are already beginning to turn.

IMG_9561

Are you ready for cooler temperature, pumpkin treats, and darker evenings?  I sure am!  Change is good.

In fact, I’m all about the change.  Healthy Tipping Point is getting a makeover in the next few weeks.  Nicole’s man Isaac is a web designer (Web Symphonies) and is helping me redesign the blog.  I’ve only had two real designs in 3+ years, and the first change only occurred because I changed my blog name – I was originally a wedding/running blog called See Bride Run.

IMG_3215

Unfortunately, I do not have an eye for graphic design at all.  Isaac asked me what I wanted and I said, “Um… colors? And shapes? And thingies?”  However, the Husband is really good at this kind of stuff.  He designed most of our wedding (picked out the colors and bridesmaid dresses) and does a lot of our house design (like picking out rugs and whatnot).  Last night, he would suggest different things, and I would say yay or nay.  The final product looks great, and I love that the Husband was so involved.

The new look will be more appealing and much easier to navigate (Race Recaps, Recipes, and Top Posts get a little lost in my current design).  Stay tuned!

IMG_3218

While working (we designed until 10:30 PM!), we all munched on Panda Puffs.  Brain food!

IMG_9567

After a restful night of sleep, I woke up and made this delicious breakfast.

IMG_9545

I was in the mood for veggies!

IMG_9558

I made a egg, mushroom, and broccoli stir-fry by browning the veggies first, and then adding beaten eggs to the hot wok.

With toast and melon:

On the agenda:  Write! Write! Run. Plow through emails.

To be interested in the changing seasons is a happier state of mind than to be hopelessly in love with spring.

I love it when bloggers change up their site design! Can’t wait to find out what it looks like!

  • Khushboo August 29, 2011, 10:00 am

Ooh looking forward to the blog make-over! Your breakfast looks great, although I think it would qualify as lunch for me…as much as I love veggies, I have never woken up with a craving to eat them!

  • katie @ KatieDid August 29, 2011, 10:01 am

Can’t wait to see the new design! Very exciting 🙂

  • Faith @ For the Health of It August 29, 2011, 10:01 am

I’m excited about fall with ya! Colder weather = cashmere time + an excuse to cuddle and light candles!

  • Sweet and Savvy August 29, 2011, 10:03 am

Even though I loveeee summer, the feeling of fall coming is so wonderful! 🙂 good luck on the blog design!

  • Aine @ Something to Chew Over August 29, 2011, 10:05 am

Exciting! Can’t wait to see the new look 🙂

I love autumn – my favourite season for sure.

  • cait August 29, 2011, 10:06 am

i love doing blog makeovers but also have NO IDEA what im doing or how to get started. I need to find someone who’d be willing to help me as well do a makeover on my little blog 🙂 great tips and that bfeast looks great!

  • Nicole of Raspberry Stethoscope August 29, 2011, 10:07 am

Can’t wait to see your blog redesign!
And i am so jealous of your changing season…still hot and humid here in Florida!

  • Heather @ Better With Veggies August 29, 2011, 10:09 am

As a super-new blogger myself, I can’t wait to see your new design. I’m trying to learn early! 🙂

Leaves turning already, so jealous! We’re still hitting highs in the 90s all week here in Atlanta, I can’t wait for Fall! I would be in support of a 2 week-long summer with a very extended Spring & Fall every year.

  • Sarah August 29, 2011, 10:10 am

I love that your husband picked out your wedding colors and home decorating colors. If I let my finace do that we would be in soo much trouble.

Can’t wait to see the new design. Change is good!

    • Sarah @ w30 August 29, 2011, 12:29 pm

Haha, I thought the same thing, Sarah!

I think it’s sweet the Husband does that, but you’re lucky, Caitlin, that you two seem to have the same taste. And I’m lucky my bf isn’t that interested in decorating – saves us from a lot of, ahem, differences of opinion. 🙂

Can’t wait to see the new blog design!

  • Nicole (Mrs. Muffins) August 29, 2011, 10:10 am

I’m so excited! I just changed up my design but that’s nothing new for me, lol 🙂 I’m so excited for Fall too but I want to savor each and every day… I dread winter!

  • Kate (What Kate is Cooking) August 29, 2011, 10:12 am

I am so ready for fall! Leaves don’t change here, so I eat as much pumpkin as I can to remind myself it’s autumn 🙂

  • Katie August 29, 2011, 10:13 am

I am SO excited for fall… and to see your new design 🙂

  • Casey @ Pocket Full of Sunshine August 29, 2011, 10:14 am

I love that quote, Caitlin. And I’m excited for everything fall. 🙂 I like that you included darker evenings–I feel like I’m the only one who actually enjoys those!

  • Liv @ The Salty n' Sweet August 29, 2011, 10:20 am

I want to change my blog design too, but it’s so nervewracking to see the final product! I’m sure it’ll be awesome 🙂

  • Katherina @ Zephyr Runs August 29, 2011, 10:21 am

I love redesigns! I thought about yours recently just because HTP is more a super resourceful website that has a great blog, rather than a blog that happens to have great resources. I come to your site for a lot of information! Can’t wait to see the redesign 😉

    • Caitlin August 29, 2011, 10:24 pm

What a sweet comment, thank you so much Katherina!

  • Gina @ Running to the Kitchen August 29, 2011, 10:22 am

Excited to see your new design! I’m the same way with graphics and design although unfortunately, my husband is no better! That’s kind of cool you two can work on it together and you have a close friend doing it for you. Makes it much easier than a random person you’re only communicating with via email.

  • Lindsey @ Chick Flick Chic August 29, 2011, 10:26 am

    Great quote! who said that?

  • Rachel August 29, 2011, 10:27 am

Living in Florida means that we don’t get pretty fall colors but I can’t wait for the cooler weather to start. I love taking trips up to the mountains during the fall just to see the changing colors. I can’t wait to see the new blog design and more pictures of the fall colors!

  • Morgan @ Life After Bagels August 29, 2011, 10:27 am

I’ve been thinking about a re-design too now that I have an ad banner I think I need another column for other stuff I want to feature … but the problem is that Brad is also the designer in our family and he’s working hot and heavy on an art show so I won’t be getting a re-design too soon

  • Sam August 29, 2011, 10:34 am

I know it is coming but i am honestly loving it. The crisp smell of the air and the cool undertones in the wind make my heart melt. I don’t know why but i just love fall so much. It makes me emotional! Can’t wait to see the new design 🙂

  • Donna @ Life of a Happy Blonde August 29, 2011, 10:34 am

I can’t wait to see your new site, i love it when bloggers change things up 🙂
YAY for fall, honestly just so i can have an excuse to open up some tins of pumpkin!

    • Sarah @ w30 August 29, 2011, 12:30 pm

      I know! I can’t wait for pumpkins!

  • Johanna B August 29, 2011, 10:34 am

I love the fall. Thanks for the photo of the leaves starting to change. I can almost feel the coolness in the air. Ummmm…

  • Jessica @ Jess Go Bananas August 29, 2011, 10:45 am

Yes change is certainly coming! Spetember, fall, leaves oh my! Yay for change!

  • Jen G. August 29, 2011, 10:48 am

So after you recommended those Panda Puffs a couple of weeks ago, I saw them on sale at the grocery. So I bought a box. I’ve since bought 4 more (and only have 1 1/2 left).

    • Caitlin August 29, 2011, 10:23 pm

      ADDICTING, right???

      • Jen August 30, 2011, 1:01 am

I think that the makers/distributors of Panda Puffs owe Caitlin a royalty check for promotion of the product!

BTW…I have NOT bought any Koala Krispies! (okay…yet) 🙂

  • Hillary August 29, 2011, 10:50 am

Definitely ready for pumpkin; not so ready for darker evenings! Can’t I have both?!

  • Leanne (Bride to Mrs,) August 29, 2011, 10:55 am

When will the new design be unveiled? 🙂 I’m so excited to see it!

The thing I love about the end of summer/beginning of fall is that it’s still warm during the day but it cools off at night! I also love going for walks and hearing the crunch of leaves under my feet!

  • Lisa (I'm an Okie) August 29, 2011, 10:55 am

Don’t show me those red leaves–I walk outside and all I see is dead grass and 108 degree temps (yes, still 108 degrees yesterday!)

  • KatieG @ Just Roll With It August 29, 2011, 10:59 am

Looking forward to the new design! I am sad to see summer go, but fall is my favorite season! I am just sad because fall does not last very long here in MD…before it’s freezing cold and fully winter

  • Beth (Well I'll Be) August 29, 2011, 11:01 am

I do love fall, just not what follows it!

  • CJ @ http://healthy-happy-whole.com August 29, 2011, 11:02 am

Im so happy fall is coming! I even made pumpkin chili the other night to celebrate! There is something about sweater weather that just makes me excited!!!
PS wendys baked potatos are amazing! I usually get that and their chili and it makes an awesome dinner! Thanks for showing that health bloggers can eat fast food too!!!

  • Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat August 29, 2011, 11:09 am

You and I had almost identical breakfasts this morning! I’m excited to see your blog makeover. Fingers crossed, I’ll be getting one before the end of the year as well, but like you, I’m not 100% sure what I actually want it to look like yet. I suppose that’s what Pinterest is for! 🙂

    • Caitlin August 29, 2011, 10:19 pm

      Pinterest is the best 🙂

  • Penny August 29, 2011, 11:19 am

I would love to have someone design my blog!!!!! I would be clueless about how to do it.
That is so exciting for you. Can’t wait to see the finished product.

  • Mary @ Bites and Bliss August 29, 2011, 11:21 am

Yes, yes, yes!! I’m starting to see leaves falling around here, too. Even though it’s still 90*, the air’s much less humid. Thank goodness.

  • Sarah T. August 29, 2011, 11:23 am

I am so ready for fall!! It’s my favorite season!
Can’t wait to see the new design. I bet it will be awesome!

  • My Blonde Moments August 29, 2011, 11:24 am

I am very ready for fall!! I love the changing of the seasons even though I don’t get real seasons down here in TX.

  • Sophie @ threetimesf August 29, 2011, 11:27 am

I love that first photo 🙂 The trees are starting to turn here too – it is lovely and sunny today but there is a hint of red on everything – Autumn is nearly here!

  • Tracy @ Tracy's Treats August 29, 2011, 11:30 am

I’m jealous of your cooler weather! I can’t wait until fall rolls around in Austin.

  • Cat @Breakfast to Bed August 29, 2011, 11:42 am

Totally random, but that is one hell of an office chair!

  • Marissa C August 29, 2011, 11:44 am

So jealous! Fall is my favorite season, but wont come for another month or two in Texas!

  • allison @ thesundayflog August 29, 2011, 11:49 am

that’s always one of my favorite egg combos, but i add a little laughing cow to make it creamy. YUM…now im craving it! im also jealous of the changing leaves. i cant wait to see that!

  • Katie @ Peace Love and Oats August 29, 2011, 12:00 pm

    That’s so exciting that you’re re-designing! I can’t wait to see it!

  • Emily G. August 29, 2011, 12:01 pm

It isn’t fall here yet! We still have 100+ degree weather! BOO!

    • Caitlin August 29, 2011, 10:18 pm

      Yikes! Crazy hot.

  • Angela (Oh She Glows) August 29, 2011, 12:02 pm

I love that quote! It applies to life in general too.

  • Ellie@fitforthesoul August 29, 2011, 12:05 pm

What a great looking veggie scramble. Broccoli and mushrooms are two of my favorite veggies.

  • Shaya (Eye Girl Eats) August 29, 2011, 12:27 pm

  • Carly D. @ CarlyBananas August 29, 2011, 12:39 pm

  • Lee August 29, 2011, 12:49 pm

I like that quote at the end of the post.

  • Kaci August 29, 2011, 12:57 pm

Oh can’t wait to see the new look! I can’t wait for pumpkin everything, I bought a pumkin spice candle the other day and was in absolute heaven!

  • Amber K August 29, 2011, 12:59 pm

I don’t always love change. I’m not ready for the COLD that it gets here during the fall, but I am soooo ready for it not to be so hot. When it gets above 90 degrees in my apartment and the wet washcloths I put in the freezer thaw in about two seconds flat, it’s just not a fun experience!

But I am excited to see what the new design looks like. I am always thrown off guard when blogs I read change things up, but I don’t think I have ever not liked a redesign. Especially one that is done with care and time.

    • Caitlin August 29, 2011, 10:18 pm

🙂 I hope you like it!

  • Ali August 29, 2011, 1:02 pm

Your breakfast looks amazing!!! All I had was instant oatmeal 🙁 Booooooo haha

  • Ash @ Good Taste Healthy Me August 29, 2011, 1:07 pm

I love Fall! I am so excited!!

  • Katie of Cabbage Ranch August 29, 2011, 1:10 pm

It is soooo not cooling off here- 110 yesterday! Fall is my favorite time of year, and I can’t wait! Looking forward to the redesign. Fun stuff!

  • Kathryn @ Flopoodle August 29, 2011, 1:14 pm

Yay excited for the redesign! I’m with you, I have no eye for that stuff but my man does, so he helps me 🙂

  • Trainer Kjirsten @ Balanced Healthy Life August 29, 2011, 1:16 pm

I love change, I think I’m actually addicted to it in some way! The best change of all is from summer to fall! I’m so sick of 95 degree weather, I can’t wait for it to be in the 80s and 70s!!! I already put out a bunch of our fall decorations, I just couldn’t help myself!

  • Anj August 29, 2011, 1:37 pm

Oh wow! I’m in Raleigh and I haven’t seen any leaves changing yet but definitely looking forward to it! My first year in a locale with a ‘real’ Autumn 🙂

  • Moni'sMeals August 29, 2011, 1:45 pm

How exciting!! I look forward to seeing the change. Change is so important. I beleive if you are not changing, you are not growing!

I too am looking so forward to pumpkin season and Fall foods, my favorite for sure. 🙂

  • Baking N Books August 29, 2011, 2:02 pm

Why is everyone talking about fall!? 🙁

Oh well, pumpkin is good 😉 Looking forward to the new blog layout.

  • Maryea {Happy Healthy Mama} August 29, 2011, 3:12 pm

Can’t wait to see the new design!

  • Laura @ My Reason to Tri August 29, 2011, 3:23 pm

YES!!!!! i am so ready for fall….everything except it getting dark early, that kind of depresses me, but i cant wait for cooler, even COLD weather! cant wait to see the new design!

is that the carolina OWS challenge shirt i see you wearing? i just love mine!

    • Caitlin August 29, 2011, 10:18 pm

      Yes! Comfiest shirt ever.

  • Tina @ Faith Fitness Fun August 29, 2011, 3:50 pm

Oh! Excited to see the changes when they come. 🙂

  • Allison @ Happy Tales August 29, 2011, 3:52 pm

haaaaaa. that’s adorable that The Hus was so involved in your blog re-design. I can *totally* see why he and Issaac get along so well (according to Nicole’s weddings posts). love it!!

    • Caitlin August 29, 2011, 10:17 pm

      hahah so true.

  • Dominique August 29, 2011, 6:54 pm

I love fall, it’s my favourite season of the year. I can’t wait for sweater weather, pumpkins(!), colourful leaves and Halloween. I also can’t wait to see the new design. It’ll be like a fresh of breath air for your website.

  • Tracy @ Commit to Fit August 29, 2011, 7:12 pm

  • Hillary [Nutrition Nut on the Run] August 29, 2011, 7:42 pm

can’t wait for the new HTP!

  • Wendy August 29, 2011, 7:59 pm

I did not want summer to end, but now that school has started and I’ve gotten back into the swing of things (I’m a teacher), I can’t wait for cooler weather! Rumor has it our first “big snow” here in MO is supposed to be before the end of October!

Can’t wait to see the new HTP!

  • Mel August 29, 2011, 8:04 pm

That quote really made me reflect a lot. I feel like it has a literal and figurative meaning. This is the first year that I won’t be going back to school and it’s a very strange feeling. But I think this quote reminds me that change IS good. It makes me feel that to be hopelessly waiting for or to be in love with something (i.e. spring or the college days) detracts from actually living and enjoying new experiences. This message really resonated with me…thanks for posting!

    • Caitlin August 29, 2011, 10:16 pm

      Love life 🙂

  • Liz August 30, 2011, 1:47 am

Fall is my favorite season, but I’m not ready for it yet! I live in Northwestern Ohio & that just means it’s closer to winter for me… I’m definitely still plenty happy with summer weather 🙂

  • amyjogo August 30, 2011, 7:54 am

Please send cooler temps our way. Here in Ft Worth, we’re expected to continue with 100+ degree temps through the middle of September. We’re miserable as it has been this way since June. Can’t wait for soup and crockpot meals. And APPLE everything!! Lol

  • Heidi August 30, 2011, 9:00 pm

I love the change in seasons. Always new things to look forward to! Curling up on a chilly fall night with a good book and fall comfort food : )

  • Jolene (www.everydayfoodie.ca) August 30, 2011, 11:18 pm

Love that quote at the end 🙂
