One Crazy Morning

in All Posts

It’s been one crazy morning at the clinic.  We also run an online supplement store (some of my favorites:  Max Stress B – a Vitamin B supplement – and Carvacrol Oil – which you can put on bug bites, pimples, and cold sores), and it seems like a bajillion people placed orders overnight.

I looked like this for most of the morning… AKA frantic.

IMG_0554

Meanwhile, the Husband looked like this… AKA calm and snazzy in his white lab coat.  🙂

IMG_0550

Now the storm has passed!  Thank goodness.

Breakfast was eaten in a rush:  Greek yogurt, banana, and a crumbled homemade granola bar.

IMG_0534

I am LOVING this combo lately!

IMG_0536

And lunch was a fun twist on Oh She Glow’s falafel burgers.  I only had a few minutes to make lunch, walk the dogs, and do some other errands at home before I had to turn around and go back to work.  This recipe was super simple to prepare.  I made the patties and popped them in the oven as I did my other things.

IMG_0546

Don’t you love it when you see a recipe on a blog and you realize that you have nearly all the ingredients in your fridge? I do!

I swapped out the kamut flour for spelt flour and the chickpeas for kidney beans.  On a whole wheat bun with ketchup and sprouts.

With an apple on the side:

IMG_0544

My mother-in-law shoved a Double Shot in my hand as I went back to work.  I nearly kissed her!

IMG_0547

Are you having a busy day, too?  Or is all calm on the work front?

My day is INSANE! My week is even worse! What am I don’t on the internet right now? I need to get back to work! 😉

    • Jen @ keepitsimplefoods March 2, 2011, 1:36 pm

      “doing”

I’ve gone crazy. And I’m officially back to work, starting now!

  • briana March 2, 2011, 1:37 pm

busy, busy, busy! and unfortunately, i’m in the midst of an insomnia flare-up as well so i’m lacking sleep! i feel kind of guilty that i’m somehow comforted by the fact that there are others in the same boat! and i’m with jen, need to get off the internet–so hard when at least half your job is on the computer!

also, i didn’t get to comment yesterday, but LOVE the hair!

  • Emily G. March 2, 2011, 1:37 pm

LOL! It’s been a bit crazy here, too! At least the day is FLYINNNG by!

    Those falafel burgers look fanntastic!

And I’m really diggin’ your new hair – totally cute!

    • Caitlin March 2, 2011, 6:28 pm

Thank you so much my sweet!

  • Sara @ OurDogBuffy March 2, 2011, 1:38 pm

Calm. Veggie sushi for lunch = happy! And I love the frantic photo of you (not because you look frantic) but I really like your new haircut! Awesome! You so don’t look 18.

  • Joyce @ Flowing to Fifty March 2, 2011, 1:49 pm

    C-a-l-m and e-a-s-y……
    For a change. Lovely.
Because I’m old enough to be your mother: you need to sit up straighter. 🙂

    • Caitlin March 2, 2011, 6:29 pm

You’re so right. My posture sucks.

  • J3nn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) March 2, 2011, 1:55 pm

I’m having a hectic week… no, YEAR, so far! 😆

That beany burger looks so good!!!

  • Allison @ Food For Healing March 2, 2011, 1:56 pm

im having a fairly busy day today, not near as busy as you, it is helping to make my day go by quicker because iwant to get outta here so bad.

  • Laine March 2, 2011, 1:56 pm

Superbusy! but still time to order fresh flowers for the office and check in on HTP!

    • Caitlin March 2, 2011, 6:28 pm

      I want flowers!

  • VeggieGirl March 2, 2011, 1:57 pm

Busy busy BUSY!!!! Running around like a chicken with its head cut off. Hang in there with your day too!

  • Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat March 2, 2011, 1:58 pm

my last 2 weeks at work ahve been pretty frantic! today is no different but it’s the productive kind, rather than the ‘omg i’ve got so much to do but can’t get anything done kind’ –> those are so frustrating! and ps, i’ve said it already, but your hair looks AMAZING!

  • Erica March 2, 2011, 2:03 pm

I’m so glad to hear that your website is doing so well! And the new haircut looks great. I am going to checkout your homemade granola bars…they look super yummy and I’m always on the hunt for new bars. My week has been more hectic than usual. BUT we get to find out our babies sex tomorrow- so I’m over the top excited

    • Caitlin March 2, 2011, 6:27 pm

I am so excited for you Erica!!!! You deserve to be over the moon happy.

  • jen @ taste life March 2, 2011, 2:04 pm

Yes! I’m having a busy day. Playing catch up from vacation, plus we’re doing some conflict resolution trainings at a middle school this week, so that’s keeping me out of the office a bit!

  • Kira March 2, 2011, 2:08 pm

That burger looks amazing! I’m in class right now and dying for some falafel!

    xx

  • Beth @ DiningAndDishing March 2, 2011, 2:10 pm

Things are pretty calm with me! Hence the blog reading :).

    Hang in there Caitlin!

  • Camille March 2, 2011, 2:10 pm

I actually wish my week was busier. I am stuck at home being sick right now 🙁

  • Holly @ Couch Potato Athlete March 2, 2011, 2:10 pm

Yes my day is nuts — I took Thurs/Fri off so I have tons of stuff to work on/finish. Thankfully it helps the day go by very quickly!

  • Joanna B March 2, 2011, 2:11 pm

Things are calm on my front. I’m able to focus on seeing friends and being social this week. It was a little scary at the beginning of the week because I almost didn’t have enough to do and that’s when the mischief begins.

Also, I really like your new haircut, I know you said you didn’t color it, but you would look awesome in a darker shade of your natural color.

  • Freya March 2, 2011, 2:12 pm

You look stunning in the first pic!
I’ve had a busy day…I overslept (GAH!) then had a meeting and physio and a looong commute and lectures :s

  • Kira March 2, 2011, 2:12 pm

Quick question, have you and the hubby ever heard of Traditional Medicinal teas? I just bought the PMS and Healthy Liver Teas and they are great!

    • Caitlin March 2, 2011, 6:27 pm

I have not! But I’m glad to hear they are working for you!

  • Amber from Girl with the Red Hair March 2, 2011, 2:15 pm

Last week was SO BUSY because I was churning out freelance articles for a deadline + working at my freelance job. Turned in all my freelance articles on Sunday, breathed nicely and relaxed for a few days, and today got assigned 5 more articles. Oy. Back to the grind 🙂

And again, LOVE your new haircut. I think bangs are ALWAYS a good idea 🙂

  • Ellie@fitforthesoul March 2, 2011, 2:17 pm

Mmmm! Whoa that burger is phat! and fat too! 😛 I love your hair, once again! hehehe. You know? I know that pics are usually not candid, but the husband always portrays this mellow and calm type of person. Correct me if I’m wrong! 😀

    • Caitlin March 2, 2011, 6:26 pm

Hahah he is usually calm 🙂 Only stressed a little

  • Maryann (The Balanced Bean) March 2, 2011, 2:19 pm

I get so excited when I see a recipe that I actually have all the ingredients for. That doesn’t happen often though! Today is pretty chill for me….just study, study, study!

  • Dorien March 2, 2011, 2:19 pm

Comfortably busy over here – just enough to make the day go by quickly and now it’s time for a run! I’ve been looking forward to hitting the gym all day, apparently even thinking about an upcoming workout can give me energy! If only those thoughts could burn calories 🙂

  • Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife March 2, 2011, 2:21 pm

I am having a busy morning too! yikes-yours beats mine, though 🙂 Have a good one-amazing that you had time to make some burgers quick, WOW. You’re amazing!

  • Kristen March 2, 2011, 2:29 pm

Have you ever written a post on the merits of taking bee pollen? My fav morning radio show, Wake Up! on Cosmo Radio (Sirius/XM) is always talking about it as a weight loss supplement. Would love to hear you or your husband’s feedback on it!

    • Caitlin March 2, 2011, 6:26 pm

Husband says he hasn’t heard anything about this and neither have I! Sorry!

  • Natalia - a side of simple March 2, 2011, 2:30 pm

Assignments with fast approaching deadlines? Check! You’re not alone on the “busy” front. Good luck!

  • Joanna@ Drizzle of Sunshine March 2, 2011, 2:30 pm

If that’s you frantic then that’s good because you look pretty! Love the new hair!

Work is pretty busy over here. I’m a HS Teacher and right now it’s all about testing and getting them prepped. I’m not diggin’ it right now because the students are impossible!! I stopped a fight yesterday…lil ol me stopped a fight among 2 very tall hs boys…sigh… I need a new job.

    • Caitlin March 2, 2011, 6:25 pm

      Thank you 🙂

      You’re a toughie!!!!

  • Jessica @ The Process of Healing March 2, 2011, 2:34 pm

I’m having a nice morning off of work.. but it’s back at 5, ugh.
    LOVE those doubleshots!

  • Natalie @ Will Jog For Food March 2, 2011, 2:35 pm

The falafel burger looks AWESOME!! My day was busy and now it’s slow…not sure if thst’s good or bad :/

  • Lee @ RealLeeRunning March 2, 2011, 2:45 pm

Not too busy over here…a little jealous of all the action you have going on! Bet the day is flying by! You’re hair looks great!

  • Jess@atasteofconfidence March 2, 2011, 2:52 pm

Busy here too! Can’t believe its 3 already.

  • Kara March 2, 2011, 2:56 pm

Don’t actually work, but the baby is keeping me on my toes today! I’m looking forward to her bedtime more than a good mommy should 🙂

    • Caitlin March 2, 2011, 6:25 pm

      hahahaha

  • Caitlin @ The Caitie Experiment March 2, 2011, 2:59 pm

It’s grant time, so I’ve been going nuts these past 2 weeks — I am always in awe of how much you manage to accomplish during your day! Also, super jealous of the sleeveless shirt you’re wearing; I had one on this morning and realized that 40 degrees, though balmy, isn’t exactly sleeveless-appropriate.

I made the OSG chocolate granola two nights ago… and have about a quarter cup left and a giant oat food baby to show for it! 😉

  • Sarena (The Non Dairy Queen) March 2, 2011, 3:01 pm

My husband is going to a convention tomorrow, so today is kind of crazy! I am so glad you mentioned the B vitamins. I actually just did a post on the fact that I just found out I am low in them because I stopped eating cereals that are fortified and I stopped eating very many whole eggs…the B’s are really important. Good luck with the rest of the afternoon!

  • Allison @ Happy Tales March 2, 2011, 3:06 pm

Falafel burgers?! Whoa now, I want to make those! My day is pretty normal… not fast or slow, just the usual.

In that pic of you on the phone, do y’all not have a work-phone? Do you only use your cell phone? (Or maybe that is a work-phone and I just think it looks like a cellphone.. ha!)

    • Caitlin March 2, 2011, 6:25 pm

We have a clinic phone but its an iPhone!

  • Tina March 2, 2011, 3:07 pm

I’ve got to try those falafel burgers!

  • Katy (The Singing Runner) March 2, 2011, 3:09 pm

Yesterday was SUPER busy! Actually this whole week has been super busy and stressful. I’m thinking about taking off on Friday afternoon to get a little early start to my weekend because I think I deserve it!

  • suki March 2, 2011, 3:09 pm

Really loving your new hair… Just wanted to say that. 🙂

  • Melissa @ Be Not Simply Good March 2, 2011, 3:10 pm

As a matter of fact, it is a busy couple of weeks. Next week it will really get nuts. And yes, I do love it when I have all or nearly all the ingredients for a recipe!

  • Melissa (MelissaLikesToEat) March 2, 2011, 3:10 pm

I don’t want to jinx anything, but so far so good. All is calm on the homefront!

  • Carly March 2, 2011, 3:11 pm

It should have been busy but I slept through my first class. Whoops! All I have left is a presentation in a class and an essay to write that’s due tomorrow. Oh the joys of procrastinating.

    BTW Your hair looks great!

  • chelsey @ clean eating chelsey March 2, 2011, 3:14 pm

All is calm for me today! It was a breeze!

  • Ali @ Ali Runs March 2, 2011, 3:17 pm

I have been studying and cramming all day for an exam for grad school I have at 4!! I just want it to be over now (hence why I am reading blogs). I am struggling with focusing at this point. Blah!

  • Stephanie @ Live Cook Love March 2, 2011, 3:17 pm

I made the burgers last night for dinner and had leftovers for lunch today! So good 🙂 Hope things calm down over there!

  • Lauren March 2, 2011, 3:35 pm

I’ve been so busy, but I was able to relax for a few minutes at few specialty coffee drink day at one of my favorite restaurants!

  • Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg March 2, 2011, 3:36 pm

All is calm here today– but yesterday was a doozie!!!

  • Kacy March 2, 2011, 3:36 pm

It’s crazy in my neck of the woods as well. Looking forward to some relaxation later this evening!

  • Kath March 2, 2011, 3:45 pm

LOVEEEEEEEEEEE your bangs!! I don’t usually think they look good on people but they look great on you!

  • Christine March 2, 2011, 3:46 pm

Glad it’s not just me feeling frantic today! I teach at a university, and my students are especially nutty today as well.

  • Ashley March 2, 2011, 4:03 pm

My day has been fairly calm, but I know I have a lot to do.

  • Lizzie March 2, 2011, 4:07 pm

Mmm those granola bars look great! How do they taste?!

    • Caitlin March 2, 2011, 6:24 pm

  • Lisa (bakebikeblog) March 2, 2011, 4:20 pm

OMG I have had the craziest week ever! So looking forward to the weekend already lol

  • samantha March 2, 2011, 4:22 pm

I was looking at the Max-Stress B. I’m thinking about ordering it – I’m definitely lacking in some energy lately. Do you mix it with anything or just take it straight ?

    • Caitlin March 2, 2011, 6:24 pm

You drop it in water and drink it – it’s also a good cure for hangovers 😉

  • Lauren March 2, 2011, 4:27 pm

I rarely comment (although I ready every single day!), but I wanted to let you know I’ve secretly been hoping you’d get bangs since I started reading last year! I always thought it would look adorable with your face shape, and I was right! The bangs really highlight your gorgeous face and nice smile! Just wanted to let you know. 🙂

    • Caitlin March 2, 2011, 6:23 pm

You should’ve told me to get bangs!!! LOL

      thanks for reading!

  • Michaela March 2, 2011, 4:48 pm

Have you ever been here ? : http://www.athlinks.com

It has record of almost every race participated in. I think it misses some of the smaller ones that aren’t published online, but I still thought it was pretty neat!

    • Caitlin March 2, 2011, 6:23 pm

      Super cool!

  • Jeni @ stepping out March 2, 2011, 4:49 pm

Today has actually been a pretty low key school day. No big outbusts with my students and I still feel pretty sane. 😀 On an unrelated note…just signed up for my first marathon! (Spinx 2011)
Your hair looks amazing by the way!

  • Madeleine @ Stepping to the Bright Side March 2, 2011, 4:49 pm

Diggin’ your haircut, by the way. Today’s been slightly busy- I’m back to blogging, I’ve been gone for a couple weeks, indulging in all sorts of naughty behavior but it’s good to be back on track and writing once again 🙂

  • Orla March 2, 2011, 4:56 pm

I had a crazy day today and will have another lot of them before it passes. But right now I am watching tv with the dog curled up on my lap – and obviously noodling online. And just about to head off to my bed. Love your new hair. It really sits well on you. I want bangs but I am not brave enough again. I had them and they sent me wild growing them out.

  • Ash @ Good Taste Healthy Me March 2, 2011, 5:00 pm

I just love your hair! It looks so good!

  • Elyse March 2, 2011, 5:22 pm

I have barely slept at all this week and I nanny for a 2 year old and a 4 year old. I am sooo tired of hearing them say I need this, I need that lol. I am sick of hearing my own name! lol.

    • Caitlin March 2, 2011, 6:23 pm

Hahah I hope you get to escape soon!

      • Elyse March 3, 2011, 1:21 am

Thanks (: Weekends are always nice! Usually I can handle them chattering my name but this week on zero sleep… not so pleasant. :/

  • Caitlin March 2, 2011, 5:39 pm

I hadn’t seen your new hair..it is super cute!

  • Alex @ Healing Beauty March 2, 2011, 5:57 pm

I always forget that I can still make a recipe even if I don’t have all the ingredients…substitutions are a beautiful thing!

  • Kelly March 2, 2011, 6:08 pm

I certainly had a busy day! I almost decided not to make the hour long commute to school and lay in bed all day instead, but the boyfriend convinced me otherwise.

Anyway, that breakfast looks delicious! I have to make some of those home-made granola bars. Your hair looks super-cute too. Very grown up! I thought it looked nice before but with bags I think it adds a little something extra 🙂

    • Caitlin March 2, 2011, 6:21 pm

It’s always good to go to school 🙂

      Thanks for the hair compliment!

Dont you just hate the word and the feeling of BUSY??? Ick- give me energy and storm passing anyday!!!!

  • Jess March 2, 2011, 7:12 pm

This is a little off the wall, and has nothing to do with having a busy day. I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate your blog. I love that it is positive in tone, without leaving me with the impression that your life is impossibly perfect. I love that it inspires me to want to make healthier decisions. Honestly–your blog is kind of like a daily operation beautiful note on my computer. 🙂
    Thanks,

This is the nicest compliment ever!

  • christine March 2, 2011, 7:37 pm

I’m a high school teacher, so “calm” doesn’t exist where I work! But it’s better than being boredom and it makes the days (usually) pass by quickly. And employment is a good thing 🙂

  • Kate (What Kate is Cooking) March 2, 2011, 8:18 pm

I SHOULD be having a busy day- I have a ton of homework- but I am procrastinating 🙂

  • Maren March 2, 2011, 8:32 pm

Busy makes the day go so fast!! I’ve had a busy week…and is going to be busy through the weekend!! I also had a ridiculous week last week, too, so I’m a bit stressed!!

  • Amanda @ AmandaRunsNY March 2, 2011, 8:46 pm

I was actually really bored today. I miss being busy all the time.

But at least you found time to eat well. Too many people would just throw their hands up in the air and say, well it’s time to get fast food.

  • RunnerCouple - Sara March 2, 2011, 9:11 pm

Your bangs looks so professional 🙂

My day was just as crazy! All I want to do is lay on the couch and do nothing, but it doesn’t look like that will happen anytime soon!

  • Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin March 2, 2011, 9:18 pm

I’m impressed you actually made time to try out a recipe for lunch! On busy days, all my creativity goes out the window and I just make a boring sandwich or something. 😛

  • kristen March 2, 2011, 9:29 pm

sorry to hear you had a crazy morning! But its nice to have someone who is calm around, it usually helps me calm down.
