Don’t make fun of us, but we are currently watching Titantic.  And crying.  How can this movie STILL make me cry after seeing it five times?!

Titanic-movie-poster

I’ll never let go!!!

In other news, half marathon training seems to be going well. I really hit a stride this week, running another 5.0 today to bring my weekly total up to 21 miles.  I doubt I’m going to hit a 1:55 time during the National Half Marathon at the end of March, but maybe in April for my next half!

The Husband ran 2.5 miles with me (he’s starting to train for the Girls on the Run 5K), and Maggie helped me stretch. 🙂

Matching socks are for organized people.

Post-run smoothie of banana, rice milk, brown rice protein powder, chocolate peanut butter, and chia seeds.

Oh, and dinner was fabulous.  The Husband and I had a ‘date night in,’ during which we basically both cooked dinner together (normally one of us does all the work) and made it a little extra special.

Cornbread, baked beans, sweet potato mash, and roasted Brussel sprouts:

So many pretty colors

And don’t forget a little vino.

Back to Rose and Jack!  It’s just getting good. 😉

    Much more colorful than breakfast!!

  • Alexa @ The Girl In Chucks February 20, 2011, 8:31 pm

I think I saw Titanic like…8 times in the theater when it came out. My friends and I just couldn’t get enough.

Then, I started working at my job and there’s one area of the attraction where that darned Celine Dion song, “My Heart Will Go On” song plays on repeat over and over and over again.

    I’ve worked here 10 years.

I could go another 10 without seeing that movie again. 😉

  • Stacy @ Every Little Thing February 20, 2011, 8:31 pm

I usually watch Titanic whenever it’s on TV! Love it. Lovely dinner too!

  • Holly @ Couch Potato Athlete February 20, 2011, 8:31 pm

Yellow breakfast and now a mostly orange dinner 🙂 Thank goodness for the brussel sprouts to break it up (oh and the red wine too!)

  • Ashley February 20, 2011, 8:36 pm

I love Titanic, and your dinner looks wonderful!
My socks rarely match. I was at my boyfriend’s parent’s house and his mother was in a cleaning frenzy because they were expecting company. She came in all flustered looked at my feet and screamed ‘Ashley, that is unacceptable!’ I thought I would die of laughter.

  • Lauren February 20, 2011, 8:37 pm

Titanic is just one of those classic movies that I can watch and love each time I watch it – and cry! I usually can’t sit through really long movies, except this one!

  • Kelly February 20, 2011, 8:37 pm

I don’t cry during Titanic but I always cry during Steel Magnolias. Cry and laugh.

I’m going to steal Maggie, if she gets any cuter. 😉

  • john February 20, 2011, 8:37 pm

What did you think about the Turning Leaf Merlot? Love you both.

    • Caitlin February 20, 2011, 8:55 pm

      It was good Johnny!

  • Camille February 20, 2011, 8:42 pm

I would never make fun of you watching Titanic since it is my favorite movie of all time. I’m not even embarrassed!

  • Carla @ Will Run for Health February 20, 2011, 8:43 pm

Maggie is so precious. You can tell she’s totally trying to kiss you!

  • Rebecca February 20, 2011, 8:46 pm

Love that Maggie + you pic! 🙂

I don’t think I’ve ever seen Titanic all the way through. Mostly just bits and pieces.
A girl I graduated with is OBSESSED with Titanic. She’s seen it… I don’t even know. Fifty times, at least. She keeps track. She pretty much acted it out in Film class one day. She can probably quote the whole thing.

    • Caitlin February 21, 2011, 10:44 am

Gabriela down in the comments section has seen it 100+ times. LOL

  • SaraRM February 20, 2011, 8:50 pm

Im watching it too on tv. Ive seen a million times but just cant seem to turn the channel… 🙂

  • Sana February 20, 2011, 8:50 pm

    Prett fall colorss!

  • Brittany February 20, 2011, 8:51 pm

I watched titanic yesterday …… gets me everytime! haha

  • chelsey @ clean eating chelsey February 20, 2011, 8:51 pm

I absolutely love Titantic – and that dinner! I’m making baked beans in the crock pot tomorrow. I’m already excited for it!

  • Crystal February 20, 2011, 8:54 pm

I love Titanic… I watched it yesterday when it was on… I think I have seen it like 100 times (9 times in the theater when it first came out) and it never gets old 🙂

  • Katie February 20, 2011, 8:54 pm

“Matching socks is for organized people.” So true! I ran in mismatched socks the other day, lol!

  • The Peanut Butter Addict February 20, 2011, 8:54 pm

I’ll never get sick of Titanic 🙂 I have to be in the mood to watch it though!

  • Kacy February 20, 2011, 8:58 pm

Haha, I watch Titanic almost every time it’s on TV. Such a classic.

  • Jess@atasteofconfidence February 20, 2011, 9:01 pm

Ah I love titanic. I watched some of it on ABC family last week, and I was obsessed with leo when I was little:)

  • Sarah February 20, 2011, 9:05 pm

I haven’t watched Titanic in awhile, but whenever I do, I cry every time, too!

  • Cara February 20, 2011, 9:10 pm

We watched Titanic last night on ABC family. I had forgotten all about it.
That dinner looks delicious! I’ve become a big fan of baked beans and sweet potatoes!

  • Ashley February 20, 2011, 9:11 pm

haha, what is it about that movie that is so captivating? Draws me in every time!

  • Erin @ The Grass Skirt February 20, 2011, 9:11 pm

Love that movie! My husband nearly floored me yesterday when he told me that he has never seen it!!!

  • Karolina February 20, 2011, 9:15 pm

I like Titanic too! Although, I always have my own commentary at the “i’ll never let go” part. I went to a huge titanic display in 2006, and it was set up so i felt like I was actually walking through the ship. It was awesome. And the last room was dark with little white lights in the ceiling, freezing cold with a huge chunk of ice in the center, and part of the actual ship there. The movie seems a lot more awesome now that I’ve seen it in person:)

  • Ericka February 20, 2011, 9:18 pm

I’m watching Titanic too! Love. And no matter how many times I watch it, I find myself hoping that somehow the ending will be different…that the ship won’t sink, everyone will survive, and Jack and Rose will be together forever. haha, I’m such a dork!

    • Caitlin February 21, 2011, 10:44 am

It is such a bitter sweet movie because you KNOW it’s going down. It’s Titanic!

  • Shannon @ Philadelphia Phitness Pharmacy February 20, 2011, 9:19 pm

I love titanic! And that picture of you and the pupperz is adorable. I want one.

  • Stephanie February 20, 2011, 9:19 pm

That movie gets me every. single. time. Not sure why either?!?!?!

  • sarah k. @ the pajama chef February 20, 2011, 9:21 pm

i love titanic! my friends make fun of me because i say it “brings back happy memories.” all i mean is that it’s such a good movie & such a part of my early teen years 🙂 oh leo…

  • Alex @ Healing Beauty February 20, 2011, 9:22 pm

It’s still my favorite movie of all time. I have to rewind the very end part when you see everyone on the ship again about 15 times yelling out “Tommy!!” every time I see the cute irish guy 😉

  • courtney @ the granola chronicles February 20, 2011, 9:24 pm

Aaaaand, you just convinced me to pour a glass of wine. It’s your fault! 🙂

  • Amber from Girl with the Red Hair February 20, 2011, 9:25 pm

Ooooh I like that colour block thing you made! As someone who is currently trying to pick out paint colours for her house I would love to know how you did that – photoshop??

    • Caitlin February 21, 2011, 10:43 am

      Paint! Photoshop is too hard.

  • Tay February 20, 2011, 9:29 pm

I’m watching Titanic too! On ABC family? 😉 And I’ve seen it probably a good 15-20 times and still get all weepy.

  • Kath February 20, 2011, 9:31 pm

Haha – love your color palate! It’s like the Great Harvest colors 🙂

  • Rachel @ Healthy Teacher February 20, 2011, 9:33 pm

The movie came out when I was in 6th grade, and my dad wouldn’t let me watch it because it had titties in it. Finally, he let me watch it when it came out on DVD…after he had gone through and “edited” the titties out by letting a football game tape over those parts. I did what any girl would do. I went to my friend’s house and watched it, cried, and watched it again. I was obsessed from Leo.

    • Caitlin February 21, 2011, 10:43 am

Your dad is awesome (and slightly nutty). LOL

      • Caitlin February 21, 2011, 10:43 am

Did he realize that YOU had titties? LOL

  • sarah (sarah learns) February 20, 2011, 9:34 pm

i love titanic! 🙂 one of my favorite movies to re-watch. i cry every time too. also, maggie stretching is too cute!!

  • Kristen @ That Hoosier Girl February 20, 2011, 9:38 pm

Do you remember when the movie came out and people were going to the theater to see it crazy #’s of times?! I remember sitting in the theater with the whole fam on Christmas Eve and losing it when the mother tucked her kids into bed. Ahhh! I mean… I know how it ends – why does it continue to get me?!

  • Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) February 20, 2011, 9:45 pm

I cry at the same things over and over and over….and laugh at the same things. I have seen every episode of Three’s Company like 80989 times and still laugh at Jack Tripper, Janet, and Chrissy 🙂

  • Kate (What Kate is Cooking) February 20, 2011, 9:49 pm

Girl, I’ve seen Titanic at least 50 times (no joke) and I STILL cry! And then I get mad that Rose didn’t offer the headboard to Jack. SHE COULD HAVE SAVED HIM!

    • Caitlin February 21, 2011, 10:42 am

I KNOW! They both could’ve sat on it!!! LOL

    • lauren February 21, 2011, 11:47 am

My friends and I had it on last night while we were hanging out and they were so mad about that part! They should have laid with each other to keep warm! I think I only saw it once in theaters before though!

  • Elle February 20, 2011, 9:50 pm

The movie A Walk to Remember makes me cry all the time! Your dinner is so pretty! I love all the colors, they remind me of fall 🙂

  • Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) February 20, 2011, 9:54 pm

I love that movie! I still cry too. I have no shame. Dinner looks perfect! Enjoy your night with your man.

  • Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table February 20, 2011, 9:56 pm

I just drank that same smoothie, but I tried guar for the first time. It really made it more milkshake-like. Annnnnd… the Kahula I added made it more mudslide like. 😉

  • Paige @Running Around Normal February 20, 2011, 10:01 pm

Ahh I haven’t seen that movie in forever. But I love it:) What recipe did you use for the cornbread?

    • Caitlin February 21, 2011, 10:41 am

It was the Tj’s boxed mix – so good and sweet.

  • Baking 'n' Books February 20, 2011, 10:04 pm

You guys are too cute! Wait – are you BOTH crying? 🙂 I haven’t seen that movie in ages…hmmm…I’m currently watching “The Switch” with Jenn Aniston and Jason Bateman (who is HILARIOUS in it by the way and makes the movie!). Have you seen it?

LOVE beans with chicken and sweet potatoes! Yum.

  • Ann @ Day by Day February 20, 2011, 10:26 pm

Oh you’re making me want to watch Titanic so badly!! I was in sixth or seventh grade when it came out and anyone that got to go see it was SO cool, since it was pretty risqué for us at that point. We all had “Leo” books that were full of pictures of Leonardo diCaprio. Oh the joys of life at an all girls schools!

  • Sarah @ The Strength of Faith February 20, 2011, 10:37 pm

I watched it last night! ABC Family?

  • Babycakes February 20, 2011, 10:42 pm

ummm, you do NOT want to know how obsessed I am with that movie. And with Leo.
I shall never get sick of either 🙂

  • Jess @ NZ Girl Runs February 20, 2011, 10:42 pm

My socks never match unless my mother has recently broken in and done my house work. She matches socks. Since that happens about twice a year, I never have matching socks. You’re right, they are for organised people!

  • Jennifer February 20, 2011, 10:45 pm

No joke, I saw Titanic II at the video store the other night.
Can’t imagine why it would’ve gone straight to DVD.

    • Caitlin February 21, 2011, 10:40 am

      Was it a new ship?!

      • Jennifer February 21, 2011, 11:16 am

Apparently it takes place present-day and revolves around a ship named after the Titanic. Titanic II gets caught in a tsunami or something….riveting. =)

  • Julia February 20, 2011, 10:47 pm

I am totally with you on the un-matching socks. I can never seem to wear matching socks for exercise of any kind! Come to think of it, I’m not sure that I really wear matching anything for exercise.

  • Katy (The Singing Runner) February 20, 2011, 10:50 pm

I LOVE Titanic! It’s my favorite movie! 😀

My socks never match. Never. 😉 Hey, it makes me cool!

  • Coco February 20, 2011, 11:11 pm

you are NOT pathetic. I saw Titanic 5 times IN THE THEATERS HAHAHAHAH.

I own it on tape, dvd, and I have the soundtrack. nbd.

p.s. would you mind reminding your lovely blog readers that today kicked off NEDA national eating disorders awareness week? It’s feb 20-26 and there are lots of events and resources at NEDA’s website.

    thanks!

Operation Beautiful is a featured organization and I will be posting about this at lunch!

  • Deva (Voracious Vorilee) February 20, 2011, 11:42 pm

I haven’t seen Titanic in a long time, but probably have seen it 15 times or so as one of my siblings loved it!

  • Kathleen @ Kat's Health Corner February 20, 2011, 11:54 pm

    Yeah for awesome runs! 😀

  • Dawn February 20, 2011, 11:58 pm

I had roasted brussel sprouts and sweet potato mash with my dinner tonight as well. What a cool coincidence. My sweet potatoes were purple ones that I got from the farmer’s market though.

    • Caitlin February 21, 2011, 10:36 am

      Purple potatoes are way cooler.

  • Claire February 21, 2011, 12:13 am

Don’t even get me started on the Titanic! The first time I saw it, I was still crying in the shower the next morning! I love Jack Dawson, now and forever!!! hehe 🙂

  • annette @ enjoyyourhealthylife February 21, 2011, 12:35 am

I was just saying to my inlaws how much I enjoyed Titanic….there I said it! I think it is a fabulous love story and the special effects are cool- go enjoy it! 🙂

  • Jennie February 21, 2011, 2:37 am

That’s awesome. I LOVED Titanic. I think I saw it 3x in the theater and BAWLED every time. I haven’t seen it in years though…

I have to try roasted brussels sprouts. Growing up, my dad loved them – but always just microwaved them and covered them in butter. They were the thing we were “forced” to eat as we’d loudly protest and gag them down. So, I kind of have an aversion – but I keep seeing roasted brussels sprouts popping up in the blogosphere. Maybe it’s time to give it a go and get past the childhood trauma. 😀

    • Caitlin February 21, 2011, 10:35 am

Cover them in maple syrup and then roast low and slow for a long time! You will like them. 🙂

  • Stacie February 21, 2011, 7:27 am

Oh gosh! I watched Titanic on tv this weekend too! I forgot how much I loved/hated that movie. Does it make anyone else incredibly anxious to watch the last hour of it?

    • Caitlin February 21, 2011, 10:35 am

      Yes! Everyone diiiies.

  • Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine February 21, 2011, 7:40 am

I have seen Titanic over 100x. I kid you not- I used to watch it nearly every single night in elementary school and keep track of how many times with tallies on a sheet of construction paper. I stopped when I got to 100…in 1999. I probably watch it once a month now….and it STILL makes me bawl my eyes out. I may be a weird, obsessive loser, but that movie just makes me so happy in such a depressing way, haha 🙂

    • Caitlin February 21, 2011, 10:34 am

OMG Gabriela!!! LOL what a fun fact about you.

  • DefineDiana February 21, 2011, 8:10 am

Your mismatched socks make me laugh. My mom got me socks that look very similar to those and have a different color band at the top for each pair. I thought to myself, these socks will never see their match again after the first wear!

    • Caitlin February 21, 2011, 10:34 am

      That’s what I thought too! I don’t know why I bought them.

  • Marisa E February 21, 2011, 9:55 am

Titanic is my all time favorite #1 movie EVA!!!! I’m so not afraid to admit that…… 🙂

  • Meaghan February 21, 2011, 9:56 am

That movie makes me cry every time! I’ll always remember though the first time I saw it in theatres I went with my aunt and uncle for some reason and it was suuuuper awkward during certain scenes! Haha

  • Julie @ Shining From Within February 21, 2011, 9:57 am

Mmmm yummy eats. I always cry during Titanic too. It’s sooo romantic and sweet and just pulls at my heart strings. It’s a classic love story…

  • Kathie February 21, 2011, 11:11 am

I love that movie. I was just telling Tom that Ive been in the mood to watch it. Funny to read you talk about it.

  • Jolene (www.everydayfoodie.ca) February 21, 2011, 12:27 pm

I haven’t seen Titanic in years, but I LOVE that movie 🙂

  • Ali @ Ali Runs February 21, 2011, 1:00 pm

My sister texted me last night about how watching Titanic was giving her anxiety EVEN THOUGH she’s seen it so many times. It’s funny how some movies still have that effect on you no matter what.

  • Amber K February 21, 2011, 1:05 pm

I have seen it so many times I no longer cry during Titanic. Although, I’ve only seen the Notebook twice and BAWLED both times.

  • alyssa February 21, 2011, 1:54 pm

I don’t care what anyone sais, Titanic is seiorusly the best movie ever. NOt even kidding, I am obsessed. When the movie came out i think I was 8… and even at that age I LOVED the movie, my friend Jessica and I would watch it every week. Then I probably went 10 years without watching it, and then one summer night when i was 17 or 18 and bored, I popped in the 2-tape VHS. I was BLOWN away… I had seen the movie a million times before as a kid and loved it, but it meant so much more to me when I was older. I am 21 now and am still obsessed with the movie… so i finally got it on DVD LOL! BEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME! i can’t believe i just posted a comment professing my love for this.

    • alyssa February 21, 2011, 1:58 pm

ps- I cannot even believe Leo wasn’t even NOMINATED for best actor for the oscars that year. I think Jack Nicholson won? But seriously…. NOT EVEN NOMINATED???? total crime. makes me almost as infuriated as when Gore got robbed from Bush. LOL

      • Caitlin February 21, 2011, 2:57 pm

I got so much more out of the movie when I watched it as an adult too!

  • Meredith February 21, 2011, 5:30 pm

that movie still makes me cry too!

  • Grapeful February 21, 2011, 8:38 pm

This has to be one of your most humorous posts!! I can totally relate to how you feel about the movie. I couldn’t stop chuckling aloud when I read the part about never letting go. Same here!! I was having a particularly bad weekend, but your cheery post really helped to raise my spirits. Thanks, Caitlin!!

  • Hannah February 22, 2011, 12:00 am

I cry every time I see Titanic too, and I’ve probably seen it 30 to 40 times….

  • Cindy Robinson February 22, 2011, 9:48 am

I’ll never let go Jack! I could watch this movie over and over again, and still cry 🙂 Same with The Notebook, although I need a bigger box of tissues for The Notebook!
