Are we there yet?  Are we there yet?  Are we there yet?

Let’s sing to make the time pass more quickly.

Did it work?

I think it did!

Through the Sunshine State and pass the Georgia Peaches – we’re officially home in Charlotte, North Carolina!  YAY!  OH, how I missed my house, my bed, my dishwasher, my fridge, my porch… everything!

Car food came from a little cooler:

IMG_3172

I started off with a bunch of hummus + crackers.

And then a Clif bar:

Almonds:

A banana:

A million pieces of gum.

And then we arrived!  Sweet relief.

Dinner featured a day’s worth of vegetables.  It was really the only thing I was craving.  A big plate of roasted veg!

Broccoli, parsnips, Brussel sprouts, and a sweet potato:

Smothered with a ton of my favorite BBQ sauce, which I also missed very much.

Time to go hug my pillow!!!

I always chew a bazillion pieces of gum when I drive to visit my mom. By the time I get home my jaw always hurts. oops. Do you have Sirius radio? Its a great thing to have for long trips. Have a great evening and enjoy the comforts of home!

  • Jessica @ The Process of Healing September 30, 2010, 9:40 pm

Glad you made it home safely!
A big plate of roasted veggies is what I crave after traveling all day too!

  • Whitney September 30, 2010, 9:41 pm

You’re so good bringing healthy food in the car. I always have intentions of doing this, and then I never seem to pack enough. Then I always end up in a drive thru somewhere.

  • chelsey @ clean eating chelsey September 30, 2010, 9:41 pm

I chew gum like it’s my job – it’s actually a horrible addiction. Its expensive too!!! I love a big plate of veggies after traveling – it makes me feel “clean” haha

  • stacey-healthylife September 30, 2010, 9:53 pm

Welcome home. I seem to be roasting veggies every other day. They are just so good.

  • Julia September 30, 2010, 9:55 pm

I splurged on this sauce after seeing it on your blog. and O. M. G. This stuff is the S! I want to bathe in it 😉 or eat it all the time. On everything

    • Caitlin October 1, 2010, 9:11 am

  • Mary (What's Cookin' with Mary) September 30, 2010, 10:08 pm

I’m the same way after travel. So hard to get more than an iceburg salad on the road. So smart to pack your own snacks!

  • yummiee cupcake September 30, 2010, 10:08 pm

going home to your bed after a long vacay is the best!

  • Maddie September 30, 2010, 10:10 pm

I definitely think coming home and sleeping in your own bed is one of the top 10 best feelings in the world!

  • holly @ couchpotatoathlete September 30, 2010, 10:20 pm

    Welcome home!

I laughed at the “million piece of gum” — that is totally what I do during long car rides!

  • kat September 30, 2010, 10:20 pm

  • Jessica@tastyandtrim September 30, 2010, 10:20 pm

Ooohh, that Clif Bar is one of my favorites. It tastes like dessert!

    • Faith @ lovelyascharged September 30, 2010, 10:35 pm

Mine too, hands down! Microwave it for about 7 seconds and it’s like a fresh made cookie 🙂

      • kate September 30, 2010, 11:11 pm

that is probably the best idea EVER. white chocolate macadamia nut=best flavor clif bar invented…also i just tried the seasonal pumpkin spice and iced gingerbread flavors…i’m definitely going to try the microwave on those ones too!!

        • Faith @ lovelyascharged October 1, 2010, 12:23 pm

The cranberry orange bread is their best seasonal flavor…yet another microwave champ!!!

  • David @ Keep it Up, David September 30, 2010, 10:33 pm

Cute doggie pics! How long did the singing last? Even with dogs that are near and dear to me, there’s always an expiration date on doggie singing… And the almonds photo could be a freakin’ ad for the company! nice shot!

  • Mary @ Bites and Bliss September 30, 2010, 10:34 pm

I liked the “a million pieces of gum” part..I’m the same way on road trips! I always pack food, but it never seems to be enough when it’s stretched over the hours.

    Glad you’re home! It’s such a good feeling 🙂

Bringing a cooler is a great idea. I’ll have to remember that next time I go home and have to venture up the dreaded 95.

  • tina October 1, 2010, 8:20 am

omg, those are totally my go to travel snacks- in that order: 1. white choc mac nut clif, 2. almonds, 3. bananas, and then chew a pack of gum- totally LOVE IT!

    Glad you’re home and safe!

  • Anna @ Doing Good & Living Well October 1, 2010, 8:41 am

Every time I see Bone Suckin’ Sauce at Whole Foods, I think of you! When my current bottle of vidalia onion sauce runs out, I may have to try this out…

  • Kathleen October 1, 2010, 8:47 am

I love it! Hilarious. Oh how I wish I could get my dog to get that animated. He’s a Great Dane mix.

  • Leanne @ Simplicitlee October 1, 2010, 8:51 am
