One Busy Saturday

in All Posts

What a day, what a day.  I love busy Saturdays.

Post-run, I headed to Emily’s house for a brunch with other bloggers.

Group shot

Emily and her husband Casey are moving to Washington DC (very sad).  One last get together was definitely necessary!

The treats included baked chickpeas and banana bread.

Scones and fruit:

Breakfast Millet:

And BLUEBERRY PIE!

IMG_1172

Work it, fruit salad… work it!

IMG_1171

My plate was a bit of everything:

IMG_1183

And a generous serving of blueberry pie.

IMG_1187

Is that not the best Saturday brunch menu you’ve ever seen?  Everything was superb! A benefit of being friends with food bloggers!  🙂

I came home, took a nap (my Saturday treat), and then I got to work on book proposal #2.  I got a lot done… finally.  I have trouble starting large projects, but once I get rolling, it’s good to go.  I’m hoping to finish the draft tomorrow.

Mid-writing snack was a banana with Greek yogurt and chia seeds:

And my in-laws, who are staying with us this weekend (they are up a lot as they try to move from Florida to North Carolina, too) were very kind and ordered us Thai food for dinner so no one had to cook and do dishes!

IMG_1193

A little of everything:

IMG_1196

Post-dinner, we went to the Epicenter to see a movie.  I didn’t realize the movie theatre at the Epicenter was a theatre/restaurant/bar… it was quite swanky!

IMG_1215 IMG_1205

We saw The Other Guys, which was funny but nothing really special.

Left an Operation Beautiful note behind!

IMG_1214 IMG_1213
And when we got home, I had another plate of Thai food. I’m gearing up for 15 miles tomorrow morning and do not need to go to bed with a grumbling tummy.  Gotta fuel up for all those miles!

 IMG_1219

Wish me luck!  15 miles seems really far.

I hope your 15 miler goes better than mine did this AM…had to bail out after 6, just wasn’t feeling it. Good luck! 🙂

Hmmm I really cannot say! But it’s non fiction again.

      • eatmovelove August 29, 2010, 1:05 am

How long do you spend writing on your proposal in the afternoon? Where do you write? Lock yourself in your room? ;)…Have you started writing the book or just working on a proposal?

Sorry for all the questions, I just find it interesting how people work 🙂

        • Caitlin August 29, 2010, 7:25 am

I write in the kitchen at the countertop since my office is occupied by my in-laws. I spent 4 hours. Just writing the proposal now. 🙂

        • eatmovelove August 29, 2010, 8:53 am

lol – i’d be eating the whole kitchen…

Have a great run. I need to check in with Emily as I am right outside of Washington D.C.

  • Cyndi @ Weightless Life August 28, 2010, 10:06 pm

You can do it! 15 miles is nothing compared to the miles you’ve done before.

  • Keri August 28, 2010, 10:06 pm

You are gonna rock 15 miles, because if you think about it–it’s just a half marathon plus 2 miles. No problem!

When I was training for my first, over 16 seemed like the biggest milestone, but I felt so strong when I finished 🙂

You will too! I love your blog. Such an inspiration.

  • Chelsey August 28, 2010, 10:13 pm

You will do awesome on your 15 miles!! I always eat a lot the day before a longer run.. and the day of a longer run… and the day after a longer run. Basically it’s just a free for all for 3 days! I <3 having an excuse to eat soooo much food!

  • Sana August 28, 2010, 10:15 pm

    It’s only 5 miles(X3)!!!

  • Nicole August 28, 2010, 10:17 pm

Every thing about the blog brunch looks so fantastic. It’s been way too long since I’ve had blueberry pie. I need more blogger friends around here!

  • Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat August 28, 2010, 10:20 pm

  • Nicole - yuppieyogini.com August 28, 2010, 10:31 pm

Just get up and do it…don’t think about it and psych yourself out. You’ll be done before you know it! Can’t wait to read the recap! PS: blogger brunches seem awesome!

  • hippierunner August 28, 2010, 10:40 pm

  • Chelsea @ Strawberry Sweat August 28, 2010, 11:09 pm

You’ll knock those miles down, no problem! You’ve done it before and you know you can do it again.

The blogger brunch looks amazing 🙂

  • tina August 28, 2010, 11:27 pm

15 is the beginning of my “happy miles”. it literally takes me 10 to get warmed up and 15 and up is pretty much a perfect run if I’m fueled and clothed right for the temps. You go Girl!

  • Danielle August 28, 2010, 11:27 pm

“Work it, fruit salad” made me laugh 🙂

I love going to the movies at Epicentre, even if it’s a little pricier than the other theater options in Charlotte. The best part is that it’s 18 and up after a certain point in the evening. 😉

I was just wondering if you have ever gotten any complaints/emails from people about the Operation Beautiful notes? Like that you shouldn’t leave behind things on someone elses property? (i.e. a bathroom mirror or on a book at the bookstore?)

    • Caitlin August 30, 2010, 10:02 am

Like once or twice in the history of 7,000+ notes. You’ve got to be pretty damn grumpy to hate on Operation Beautiful!

  • Rebecca @ How the Cookie's Crumble August 30, 2010, 5:43 pm

I saw your Operational Beautiful highlight in Glamour yesterday when I was on the plane and was so excited for you. Congratulations!
