Hello!  I don’t think I’ve got this long without blogging… well, since I started to blog!  Even on my honeymoon.  :)  Stuff has been crazy, but it’s also been great.  I’ll catch you up!

We left Florida around noon on Sunday after watching England get kicked out of the World Cup (boo).   The drive took us 9.5 hours because we were dragging the trailer.  One thing that made the drive a lot more fun was the Hus and I both had giant Operation Beautiful notes taped to our vehicles.

We got LOTS of honks and fist pumps.  It was really nice!

I had the bright idea of speeding up and passing the Husband when we were about 30 miles outside the city.  I went to a 24-hour grocery store and picked up some essentials, and then we met right back up at the house.

Good thing I grabbed some food because we would’ve been STARVING this AM!

I had Chobani pineapple, 1/2 cup raw oatmeal, and a banana for breakfast.

IMG_7421

I ate my breakfast and drank my coffee on my NEW PORCH.  I would show you a front of the house but that’s not a good idea (safety purposes).  However, let me say that I’ve always fantasized about having a porch and now I finally do.   It’s wonderful.

We got to unpacking right away.  It was a lot  easier to unload than load the cars and truck, and before I knew it, we had everything in the house.

We tried to hang up our flat screen, but neither the Husband or I are very handy, so we called the Great American Handyman, and he hooked us up (look at me, already recommending Charlotte businesses)!  After that, I unpacked the kitchen and put some stuff in the attic.

Lunch:

IMG_7434

A lovely Athenos Tomato & Basil Feta, hummus, and spinach sandwich.

IMG_7437

And half an apple.  This apple was HUGE!

IMG_7442

House Tour!

Since we sold off all of our furniture except two chairs, we’ll be decorating this house from the bottom up!  Consider these the “before pictures.”

Living room:

IMG_7443

My in-laws’ dogs are staying with us so we’re currently four dogs deep.  Ahh!

Awkward side room (what should I do with this space?):

Second Bedroom (will become an office) and Guest Bath (AKA my bathroom – I cannot share a bathroom with the Husband…):

Whew!  That’s all, folks!  I’ve got to make a trip to Target, and I’m hoping to squeeze in a run through my new neighborhood.

How would you describe your style?  If you don’t have a style (I certainly do not and will be completely winging it), what would you be aiming for if you could redecorate?

I love your new place! Can’t wait to see how you decorate it.
And having operation beautiful notes on your car is such an amazing idea, it’s so cute, and I’m sure if made the day better for a lot of frustrated drivers 🙂

  • Lungs June 28, 2010, 2:26 pm

Caitlin, it’s beautiful! You’ve got lots of opportunity to put your ‘stamp’ on it. My decorating style is clean and minimalist – it has the added benefit of being easy to maintain!

  • Heather (Heather's Dish) June 28, 2010, 2:27 pm

that’s a beautiful duplex! love the kitchen 🙂 and that’s hilarious that you can’t share a bathroom with your hubby! we never really had a choice in the matter… 😉

i would say my style is simplistic, but i LOVE color!

  • Lindsay J June 28, 2010, 2:31 pm

Your new place looks BEAUTIFUL!!! such a great find. And very good idea to get some essentials to eat for today. Smart idea… I don’t know what my style is. I’ve had fun decorating our house the past year. I try to copy Pottery Barn style (cheaply), but if I see something and like it (vintage, new, etc) I find a place for it. Glad you made it safely!

  • Brynne June 28, 2010, 2:31 pm

Congratulations! The house is GORGEOUS – can’t wait to see how you’ll decorate it!

  • Sarah for Real June 28, 2010, 2:32 pm

I’d say my style is fresh and clean. I hate clutter!

Finding a place with some built-in style is critical, and you’ve already got that! Arranging the furniture is next in importance (don’t just shove everything up against the walls if possible), then comes a little color. Easy!

  • Kristina June 28, 2010, 2:32 pm

YAAY ! your new place looks beautiful – can’t wait to see it with all fun new furniture! that kitchen looks awesome.

LOVE that you put Operation Beautiful notes on your car!! …I’ve been thinking of how to do one, maybe I’ll do that next road trip… 🙂

  • Nicki June 28, 2010, 2:32 pm

Love it! You will figure out a style eventually – when it’s important to you.

  • Mary June 28, 2010, 2:32 pm

I love to follow the KISS rule, you know, keep it simple, stupid 🙂 I love classic colors and straight lines. less is more you know?

Welcome to NC! I hope you love it here! I know that I do!

  • Freya @ Brit Chick Runs June 28, 2010, 2:33 pm

I love the house – it’s gorgeous!!!My style would be simple, open plan modern type stuff. I can’t wait to get my own house so I can decorate it 🙂

  • Marilou @ Mostly Healthy June 28, 2010, 2:33 pm

Love it! Isnt it the best moving and buying everything new? 🙂

  • Ashley June 28, 2010, 2:34 pm

I love your new house!! You’re going to have so much fun decorating it.

  • Heather June 28, 2010, 2:34 pm

The new place is so swanky and modern, I love it! Could you fit bookshelves in the awkward space, or would you prefer to keep those in the office?

My style is pretty eclectic, and it’s always made decorating a little problematic. I really like modern and minimalist stuff (and light colors: grays, light blue, etc), but I always like kitschy vintage with bright colors and funky things. Trying to find a balance between clean and streamlined while also liking knick-knacky things (I collect random stuff) is difficult, so I think when I get my own place I’ll do more “themes” in rooms instead of trying to stick with one style throughout the place.

  • BethT June 28, 2010, 2:34 pm

Glad you made it with all your car tweeting…hehe. Just kidding. Have fun decorating.

  • Amanda June 28, 2010, 2:34 pm

My style is country. I decorate with plaids and mason jars. It creates a welcoming atmosphere.

  • Jenna (Hello, I Love You) June 28, 2010, 2:34 pm

Love your new place! So much light!

I guess my style would be a little Bohemian, a little quirky with lots of color! Have fun exploring your new town. 🙂

  • Jessica @ How Sweet June 28, 2010, 2:36 pm

I love the bathroom! So cute!

  • AngelaOSG June 28, 2010, 2:37 pm

Your new place is gorgeous! Wow so much light. Love it. Your kitchen is to die for!

As for that awkward side room…I might try putting a small + tall round table in the centre and putting something cool looking on it like a neat plant or fun ornament/scumpture.

    • AngelaOSG June 28, 2010, 2:37 pm

      that’s sculpture!

      • Sarah for Real June 28, 2010, 3:44 pm

Is that like a scrumptious sculpture? Sounds good to me!

  • Sara June 28, 2010, 2:37 pm

Your new place looks awesome! I love that the first thing you did was hang the tv up. 🙂 When my sister and I moved into our apartment, the first thing we did was make sure our cable would be installed before we moved our stuff in. Then the first purchase, besides the tv and tv stand, was curtains because we lived on the ground floor and didn’t want people to see an empty place with a nice tv!

  • Lisa June 28, 2010, 2:37 pm

Awkward side room: needs an island…so when you host party’s you can have a buffet style and lots of extra storage underneath!
You can buy portable Islands at Ikea!

  • brandi June 28, 2010, 2:37 pm

    The place looks awesome!

Wouldn’t that little “small” room be a dining space? it has a light fixture centered over the room. I would get a little 2-4 person table maybe.

    • Becky June 28, 2010, 3:09 pm

Yes I also thought dining room or breakfast room especially since it’s right next to the kitchen, right? Looks like a great place!

  • Fueling for Fitness June 28, 2010, 2:38 pm

Wow, your place is beautiful!! We are the same age but I am ashamed to say that I am currently live in a teeny tiny studio box! haha 🙂

Glad you made it there safe and sound!

    -Alison

  • Rebecca June 28, 2010, 2:38 pm

What a beautiful house! Your lunch looks awesome! Good luck getting settled!

  • Katy(The Balanced Foodie) June 28, 2010, 2:40 pm

At Ikea they have a really long mirror it’s like a black-brown frame and we have it leaning long ways cady-corner it’s really nice, chic and opens the place up..just an idea, don’t know if it’ll work! 🙂 YAY Charlotte! I may be just a tad jealous. 😉 Super happy for you!!

    • Katy(The Balanced Foodie) June 28, 2010, 2:41 pm

Oh wait, that wouldn’t work with the closet doors. But hey that’s a thought for anywhere in your new place! 😉

  • Julz June 28, 2010, 2:40 pm

Beautiful new house! Haha we buy the HUGE oatmeal box too 🙂

  • Sarah June 28, 2010, 2:40 pm

One of my favorite things about moving to new areas has been going for walks and runs to explore the streets and get to know the short cuts. It’s so exciting to explore a new area!

  • Erica June 28, 2010, 2:40 pm

You could make that little “awkward side room” a dining room – as long as it’s not like a walkway to the hall or something. Ilove the floors, the kitchen – very cute!

  • Cara June 28, 2010, 2:41 pm

Ahhh I LOVE your new place! It’s gorgeous, and I am 100% jealous! 🙂

  • Karen @ Not Just Celery June 28, 2010, 2:42 pm

What a beautiful condo! I would make the husband have your bathroom though because I need a bathtub! 🙂

  • Amanda June 28, 2010, 2:42 pm

Adorable!!! Congrats! By the looks of the lighting in the awkward space, I’d say a small dining table would complete that room nicely!!

  • Estela @ Weekly Bite June 28, 2010, 2:43 pm

LOVE your new place! How exciting!

My style is eclectic, but I love the cottage look and antiques!

  • Danielle (Runs on Green) June 28, 2010, 2:44 pm

I love the new place! And I don’t blame you for wanting your own bathroom 🙂

  • Emily @ The Front Burner Blog June 28, 2010, 2:45 pm

you guys are so funny – don’t forget that you have friends in charlotte! if you need any more handy help, casey is very handy (has hung our tv in multiple moves!), and we have about five billion tools.

call me if you need a running partner once you get settled! 🙂

    your place looks beautiful!

  • Kelly June 28, 2010, 2:49 pm

Love the new place! Have so much fun decorating!

  • Kaz June 28, 2010, 2:49 pm

What a beautiful house! I love the green walls. 😀 Congrats on your porch. Too cool!

  • Tammy June 28, 2010, 2:50 pm

Super cute! Love the wood floors!

  • Kelly June 28, 2010, 2:50 pm

Your new place is beautiful!! Can’t wait to see the after pics!! Love the signs on your vehicles! Best of luck in your new home!

  • Sara June 28, 2010, 2:51 pm

Major congrats!! I haven’t commented in a while but I keep up to date. I just started a new job and I’m moving in two weeks so I can relate a lot to what you’re going through–and I’m keeping tabs for interior design inspiration 🙂

Tiny PS– I was struck by what you said about not taking a pic from the front of your house for safety purposes. This thought has always stuck in the back of my mind–specifically, about blogger privacy and safety. Maybe I watch too much Dateline, or maybe I was raised in the age of internet paranoia, but I always wonder how much is too much when it comes to sharing life details? Perhaps when you’re all settled, rested, and adjusted you could write a post on what to share/what not to share and how you learned about it? Might be helpful to future wannabe bloggers 🙂

    • caitlin June 28, 2010, 2:55 pm

I can sum it up here for you!

I tried really hard to keep my last name private for a long time but once the Operation Beautiful website started to get press, I knew I’d never be able to keep it private.

I don’t have my address or phone number listed, I don’t tell people my plans in advance (like, I’m going on a run in this park at noon), I always meet new people in public places… Just the basics. 🙂

      • Sarah for Real June 28, 2010, 3:51 pm

Thanks for that! Safety is a major concern for me also. It sounds like you rely on people not figuring out where you live necessarily, and avoiding having them find you in public right?

What about twitter? I’m super paranoid but I see that you tweet about being at a restaurant or going out for bike rides and stuff.

        • caitlin June 28, 2010, 3:55 pm

Honestly… I guess I’m just not that paranoid. Perhaps I should be but I’ve never really had any issues.

  • Katherine June 28, 2010, 2:51 pm

my style is “eclectic sexy chic”. Velvet chaise lounge in a rich brown pretty much inspired it. Lots of old antique things also (I seriously dislike Ikea, so I tend to get great older, second hand things). For the small room, maybe a circular table which you can use for flowers, or when entertaining use for food. Is it close to the front door? It could also serve as the de facto place to throw your keys, sunglasses etc when you get home.

  • Evan Thomas June 28, 2010, 2:53 pm

I love contemporary homes. My mom’s friend’s house has all these bright colors, sleek drawers, technology, etc. I tease her about wanting to live there whenever we’re over there

  • Kacy June 28, 2010, 2:53 pm

Congrats on getting settled in! Love the new digs!

  • Rachel June 28, 2010, 2:54 pm

I have no specific style but I always feel like “Less is more”. I’d mutch prefer open space and less furniture and nicknacks.

  • Carolyn @ lovinlosing June 28, 2010, 2:55 pm

You should get one of those magnetic signs for your car advertisting OB!

  • Lisa (I'm an Okie) June 28, 2010, 2:55 pm

Congrats on the new house! It looks pretty amazing. I loved the arch and character of it!

I am moving into a new apartment and will be decorating soon–and I have no idea what I’m doing. I tend to agree with others though–simplicity for me is key!

  • Tonyne @ Unlikely Success Story June 28, 2010, 2:56 pm

    Looks adorable!!

I loathe moving. Luckily my Big Gay Brother is an awesome interior decorator, so therefore, I don’t have to think about too much. I just have him come visit for the weekend, feed him cocktails and play DJ while he works. We dance and decorate. The husband hides. It’s great. 🙂

  • MarathonVal June 28, 2010, 2:58 pm

We also have “his” and “hers” bathrooms and we love it. I also LOVE the OB notes on the cars!! Great idea!

  • gina (fitnessista) June 28, 2010, 2:58 pm

congrats on the new casa! it’s beautiful 🙂
for the side room, i’d do a round table in the center and a vase with flowers (or a large bowl with decorative fruit/balls) on there

  • Cassie @ Tasteful Tales June 28, 2010, 3:01 pm

I love the new place! It has so much character 🙂 Sooo jealous about the front porch too! I would def put a table of some sort and make it like a little eating nook maybe?

  • kate June 28, 2010, 3:02 pm

Welcome to Charlotte! I hope you love it as much as I do since I moved here 2 years ago!! Your place looks gorgeous, and I’m sure decorating will be so fun! There are lots of second hand shops in Elizabeth, maybe you can find some fun vintage-y stuff!!

  • Ashley June 28, 2010, 3:04 pm

Glad you made it safely! Can’t wait to see how you decorate! I am moving in September and can’t wait to decorate the new place!

  • Kim June 28, 2010, 3:05 pm

Awkward space is totally screaming YOGA to me 😀

  • Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg June 28, 2010, 3:08 pm

Ahhhh, I love it!!! Welcome home, ha! You are going to have so much fun decorating– that was the best part about buying our house last year. And we’re STILL doing it– we just repainted and did some redecorating this last week!

You’re going to love having a porch too!

  • Annie@stronghealthyfit June 28, 2010, 3:11 pm

Congrats! I’m so happy for you guys! I think my style with clothing and decorating is still developing, but I would say I’m going for “simple and elegant”. 🙂 I hate clutter!
You are so funny, not wanting to share a bathroom!

  • Heather June 28, 2010, 3:12 pm

glad you made it, love the hardwood floors!

  • Kathleen June 28, 2010, 3:12 pm

Looks like a gorgeous space. Enjoy decorating!

  • Shannon June 28, 2010, 3:14 pm

I love the car signs – you are too cute! Bet you made hundreds of people smile! You should see OB car magnets 🙂

  • jenny June 28, 2010, 3:16 pm

SO pretty and modern. I’m so jealous! I’m apartment hunting right now for August 1 and it has been a nightmare. Finding a place that isn’t closet sized in nyc is impossible, and they are SO expensive. Jealous of your place! haha

  • SaraRM June 28, 2010, 3:20 pm

I’m happy to see that I’m not the only one who has a separate bathroom from their husband! Everyone thinks its so wierd… 🙂

Congrats and good luck with the new adventure!

  • Anne June 28, 2010, 3:25 pm

Love the new house – it’s beautiful!!! I would use that small space as a breakfast nook. There are tons of great furniture/antique stores here with cute/funky tables and chairs.

I actually have a degree in interior design, but you’d never know it by looking at my house. I’d rather spend the money on shoes or purses 😉 My style is pretty eclectic, though. I just buy the things that I like, irregardless of their “style” and fit them all together when I get home. My decorating advice is to not stress about it and have FUN. It will all come together eventually!

  • ashleigh June 28, 2010, 3:27 pm

Yay you made it! Your place looks awesome! I am so jealous bc I have always wanted to live in NC… who knows maybe i’ll end up there someday!

  • Erin June 28, 2010, 3:29 pm

I think the side room is supposed to be an eating area – maybe you can find a small 4 person table?
I’m still figuring out my style but I like bright colors, eclectic things, neutral upholstered furniture and some classic furniture (like I have a hutch that belonged to my grandmother – it’s a gorgeous cherry wood and I use it to show off pictures and things instead of china!).
Start by leafing through home magazine or web sites and printing/tearing out rooms you like. Put them in a notebook or something together and after awhile, you’ll see patterns and be able to buy stuff accordingly. I have a bunch of home design blogs I love and I’m just waiting to have a place completely of my own that I can decorate again!

  • Jen June 28, 2010, 3:30 pm

Your place is gorgeous!! Add me to the “I can’t share a bathroom with my husband” club 😉

Happy decorating! We’re just starting to decorate our place and I have no clue where to begin. All I know is I want a very clean, relaxed feel!

  • Joanna June 28, 2010, 3:30 pm

I want my own bathroom when I get married too. Love that

  • Jessica @ Jessica Balances June 28, 2010, 3:30 pm

It looks amazing!!! 🙂 I can’t wait to see what you do with it! I’d describe my own style as a mix of traditional and contemporary – I hate too much of either, but I love a good mix.

  • Natalie June 28, 2010, 3:35 pm

I love the new place–looks gorgeous! I’m sure it will be a blast to decorate 🙂
I decorate with color themes–choosing a few colors to match w/ the wall paint, furniture, decorations. That seems to be pretty much my ‘style’ for the whole house : )
How funny that you guys have separate bathrooms. I used to feel that way about my brother, but not with my husband 🙂

  • Courtney @ Sweet Tooth, Sweet Life June 28, 2010, 3:36 pm

Oh my gosh, Caitlin, your new place is AWESOME! Totally loving the living room.
I laughed out loud when I saw your bowl – that’s a Corian bowl, isn’t it?!? My parents have the SAME set! 🙂

  • Tracey June 28, 2010, 3:39 pm

I don’t really have a style, it’s kind of all over the place. If I could redecorate I would focus on comfort and functionality. I live in a very small space, with my husband and 2 dogs, so it helps to have furniture that can have multiple functions:)

  • Lindsay @ The Ketchup Diaries June 28, 2010, 3:42 pm

I would describe my style as chic and modern with pops of bright color. As for the spare room, how about a mini workout room?

  • Nora@LiveLifeEatRight June 28, 2010, 3:42 pm

YAY for the move and spreading the word about operation beautiful :)! P.S that is the most ginormous box of Quaker Oats I’ve ever seen (Living Room pic) haha and I LOVE IT!

  • Jodi June 28, 2010, 3:43 pm

What a beautiful new place! How exciting…. Congrats on the new start. Lots of luck!

  • Sarah (Running to Slow Things Down) June 28, 2010, 3:52 pm

I would aim for a bright, airy atmosphere that feels as if you’re bringing the outdoors *in.* I love the open feel of a home and I love how natural and calm the outdoors is. In other words, earthy tones. 😀

    The house looks lovely! 😀

  • valerie June 28, 2010, 3:52 pm

Your new home looks fabulous. Very nice.

  • Cyclist Kate June 28, 2010, 3:54 pm

Love the new place! It’s gorgeous and looks like it will be a blast to decorate.

As for that awkward little room–what about a foyer table in the center?

    http://littlegreennotebook.blogspot.com/2010/04/foyer-table.html

  • Clare June 28, 2010, 3:55 pm

Not to criticize in the slightest, only because I am curious: did you take down the photos of the outside of your mother’s house as well? I was kind of concerned when I saw you had posted those originally a few months ago.

    The new space looks beautiful!

  • Samantha @ Health, Happiness & Skinny Jeans June 28, 2010, 3:57 pm

Cute new digs! I wish I was moving into a house (or at least some place with a less generic layout then my apartment..yawn)
If I could redecorate I would go for comfort, similar to what I have now just with newer things (and cats who don’t want to claw at every piece of furniture they see) I like earth tones, a plush area rug, a really ultra comfy couch, dark wood accent pieces and good lighting throughout.

  • Sarah June 28, 2010, 4:04 pm

    Your new place is beautiful.
My husband and I just bought and fixed up our home. We just went with what we really like, and it’s coming together. 🙂

  • Katheryn June 28, 2010, 4:07 pm

If anything I would say my style is a cross between Ikea and Anthropologie. Although that isn’t a style, they’re stores!

  • Valerie June 28, 2010, 4:07 pm

Congratulations on ur new beautiful house!! I hope you and your husband can build new great memories there 🙂 You deserve all these great things coming at u! <3 Keep operation beautiful going!!!!

  • Monique@She's Going The Distance June 28, 2010, 4:23 pm

Oh wow, awesome new home!! 🙂

  • Susan June 28, 2010, 4:26 pm

Eeeee!!! I just realized it’s been forever since I commented (I’m moving cities on Thursday!). But I just wanted to say how pumped I am that you’re finally set up in the new place! Your house is gorgeous, decorating it will be tons of fun. I’m more of a “hippy” type decorator – I like lots of mismatched bright colours and patterns. Of course, I won’t be decorating in my new place. I only have three suitcases to my name :\

  • Amy B @ Second City Randomness June 28, 2010, 4:27 pm

I love the entryways… so classic!

I’m very much a girly girl when it comes to a lot of things. But my decorating sense seems to be more masculine- I prefer black as an accent (or wood stain), love bold and saturated colors, and prefer chunky furniture.

Hopefully this means if I ever get married, there won’t be too much bickering about how the house will look! 😉

  • brittany June 28, 2010, 4:35 pm

I love to do every room classic and neutral with each room having one color that pops that’s incorporated using different things like hand towels in the kitchen that match with a picture, pillows in the living room that match with a lamp.. also the less you have the easier it is to keep everything clean.

  • Kelsey June 28, 2010, 5:22 pm

Congrats on successfully moving! I lived in Wilmington for a year and found out that North Carolina is a wonderful state. They have great state parks in the western part of the state that are so much fun to visit. On a side note, after seeing your message on the back of your car I have decided that once I return to college for fall semester I plan to write operationbeautiful notes all over campus! I know at least for me hearing such motherly compliments when away from home really can make your day 🙂

  • Mary @ What's Cookin' with Mary June 28, 2010, 5:23 pm

loving that you put operation beautiful signs on your cars!

  • Chelsey June 28, 2010, 5:27 pm

love love love that kitchen!!!! I am totally jealous. I am currently in the process of decorating my first home, and I would have to say my style is Pottery Barn’ish(?) – haha at least in a cheaper way! I find a lot of cute things at Home Goods, and JC Penney has a line called Linden Street that looks just like PB! I love it!

  • Nicole, RD June 28, 2010, 5:37 pm

    Love the new place!!

I am “contemporary” for sure 🙂 With a homey touch!

  • Janna June 28, 2010, 5:38 pm

Congrats on moving in. Love the place so far!

My mom is an interior designer, and she has extremely modern tastes, so I definitely love the look of modern furniture and appliances. At the same I love the look of French Country. I like a little old and new mixed together. 🙂

So cute! I can’t wait to see how you decorate it!

  • Lisa (bakebikeblog) June 28, 2010, 5:54 pm

What a gorgeous new house! Can’t wait to see how you turn it into a “home” in the coming weeks!
PS – Love the Operation Beautiful signs on the car!!

  • Krystina June 28, 2010, 5:56 pm

Your new place looks nice! It’ll be gorgeous once it’s decorated.

  • Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin June 28, 2010, 6:01 pm

I love your new place! I’m excited to see how you decorate it.

My decorating style is all over the place! I’m sure my first house is just going to turn into a giant hodge-podge of styles.

  • Maria June 28, 2010, 6:03 pm

What a beautiful little home! Porches are one of my favorite things too and the BEST way to meet new people. When I’m at home in VA, I sit on our front porch and people pass by and you just end up having a conversation with them…so fun.

My style is very Crate and Barrelish I’d say. Clean, not a lot of clutter. Though, right now is Ikea-style, because most Crate and Barrel is out of my price range 🙂

  • Courtney aka ThatRunnerChick June 28, 2010, 6:05 pm

Love that you put those signs all over the truck and car!! You probably made quite a few women’s days with that!!

The side room…I vote small dining room table. Preferably a pub style one with 4 seats? Since its right off the kitchen…

  • Ellen @FirednFabulous June 28, 2010, 6:21 pm

Oh my gosh, congrats! I’m so jealous of all that spaaaace 🙂 Love the huge supply of Quaker Oats, btw. Oh and that feta/hummus sandwich looks delicious! Great idea.

  • Amelia June 28, 2010, 6:32 pm

The place looks fabulous! Looking forward to seeing what y’all do with it. (Btw, the other dogs totally threw me off when I scrolled through this post. I thought I had gotten confused and was reading someone else’s post lol!)

  • Lauren @ Health on the Run June 28, 2010, 6:34 pm

Congrats on the move and the new place!! It looks beautiful…especially that kitchen. 🙂 Good luck with the furnishing/decoration. I wouldn’t say that I have a style, but I do like simple, classy, and home-y decorations. No crazy modern furnishings for me!

  • Emily June 28, 2010, 6:40 pm

What a cute place! My husband and I did an apartment search in Denver and were looking for something much like your place…and found NOTHING! Our current place is great for its location and size, but I would love hardwood floors and that beautiful kitchen. Enjoy setting up your new place!

  • M June 28, 2010, 6:56 pm

    Congrats!

But you aren’t serious about not being able to share a bathroom with hubby are you?C’mon girl get real! 😉

    • caitlin June 28, 2010, 10:29 pm

You need to come smell my husband before you can say that.

      • M June 28, 2010, 10:32 pm

        You are funny!
But seriously if you ahd to share a bathroom as most couples do, would you survive?!

        • caitlin June 28, 2010, 10:33 pm

The question is whether the Husband would survive… Baw haha.

  • Lisa @ Early Morning Run June 28, 2010, 7:07 pm

Wow. You two have done a LOT in one day! Is that small little room big enough for a small kitchen or bistro table? It’s right off the kitchen, right?

    Have fun shopping and decorating!

Oh, and I love the Operation Beautiful signs on the vehicles! Great idea!

  • Gracie @ Girl Meets Health June 28, 2010, 7:33 pm

YAY! I’m so excited for you 😀

  • Lisa June 28, 2010, 7:38 pm

    CUTE place!!!!! Enjoy unpacking!

  • Jenn @ LiveWellFitNow June 28, 2010, 8:35 pm

a GORGEOUS place you have! 🙂 It looks like you two are in a perfect spot to start this new phase of your life.

My style? Elegant but casual and clean 🙂

  • maria @ Chasing the Now June 28, 2010, 9:04 pm

Can’t wait to see what you choose to do with the place. I love fresh starts and getting to decorate everything!

  • Jessica @ The Process of Healing June 28, 2010, 9:32 pm

Your house is beautiful! I love your countertops!

  • foodandfarm June 28, 2010, 9:32 pm

i see this as a country-modern chic…. you can do so much with it!

  • Kelly June 28, 2010, 9:35 pm

I don’t have much of a style and my mom loves to do that kind of stuff so I take her opinion a lot, and add in a bit of my own preferences haha. She’s gotten good at identifying what is really “me” too, she’s good like that.

    I love your new place!

  • Sarena (The Non Dairy Queen) June 28, 2010, 9:41 pm

Congratulations on arriving at your new place! I am so excited for you two! Our style is more mid century modern. I love your place! Enjoy it!

  • Faith @ LovelyAsCharged June 28, 2010, 10:08 pm

Aww, congrats! I love that you get to decorate from the top up…go crazy!!!

  • Jael June 28, 2010, 10:10 pm

    Love the new place…!!!

Can you tell me why is that you can’t share a bathroom with Dr Husband??

    • caitlin June 28, 2010, 10:30 pm

haha he’s a smelly boy and he sheds like a furry dog. i need privacy to do my ‘business.’ LOL

  • kalli@fitandfortysomething June 28, 2010, 10:21 pm

welcome home! what a great place. get settled and enjoy 🙂

  • Kelli June 28, 2010, 10:39 pm

Wow what a GREAT place!!! You are going to have a blast re-decorating. We are in the middle of our own decorating project. I found it was very similar to planning my wedding, I was scared to make big decisions at first in fear that I would regret them later. But now that I have made a few it gets easier! I would describe my style as simple, but I really like peices that stand out. I like clean lines on the wall, but a really great painting. I like plain furniture nad great colorful pillows to go on it! GOOD LUCK!

  • Camille June 28, 2010, 10:40 pm

I love the Operation Beautiful notes and the new place.
I wish you guys all the happiness in the world there!

  • Diana @ frontyardfoodie June 28, 2010, 10:42 pm

Oh a porch! I’m so jealous! I fantasize about that as well. My hubby and I agreed that the next house we buy will definitely have one.

  • Amber K @ sparkpeople June 28, 2010, 11:04 pm

I don’t have a “style.” Our apartment is furnished and decorated with things we have inherited.

And the key to a happy marriage in my book means SEPARATE BATHROOMS!!! =)

  • Jolene (www.everydayfoodie.ca) June 28, 2010, 11:28 pm

I like modern, sleek, and clean looking – yet still warm feeling, and homey.

  • Lauren (Clean Eats in the Dirty South) June 28, 2010, 11:28 pm

your new place is absolutely gorgeous.
my style? clean, minimal, and cheap (cause its a dorm, ha ha) but chic (because i HATE thinking of how many people have lived in my room!). def have a theme of green and blue going on, with some string lights and mini japanese lantern lights too. IKEA and Target are my best friends.

  • Wei-Wei June 29, 2010, 12:13 am

Man, I am not used to looking at your new house. It looks great, though, and I love the separate bathrooms 😉 I like whimsical, cozy but still organised. Our house isn’t exactly quite like that, but I would like my future apartment to be!

I love love love the OB notes, by the way. 😀

  • Julia @ Brit Bride June 29, 2010, 4:36 am

I know exactly what you mean about craving exercise – Ive been signed off for two weeks now – a week to go! – and I can’t wait to get back to it!

Side room – flowers on a round table (think Charlottes hallway in SATC?) – or is it too much of a through room? Or you could make it a dining space?

  • Jess June 29, 2010, 5:15 am

I have never been able to decorate properly. I moved out of home at 18 with minimal money, but I suppose I have decorated as I went along. My ‘thing’ is canvas prints of skylines (I have a thing with skylines) and I have one of a different city in most rooms of my house. I also have heaps of photos in black and silver frames.

  • Marissa June 29, 2010, 9:05 am

Your new house is gorgeous! I love the Quaker oats canister lying in the first photo, and the fact that the very first thing you guys did was hook up the TV, heheh!

  • Kelly June 29, 2010, 1:07 pm

My style (and thankfully my fiance’s style too) is contemporary with traditional, almost antique stuff thrown in the mix. I like clean lines, but ornate picture frames, and a lot of texture. I don’t like things to be too matchy matchy, which is so un-southern of me. 😉

I have been sharing a bathroom with my fiance for almost a year now and I can’t wait to at least have double sinks! We live in a one bedroom condo uptown so the location is nice, but it’s super small.

  • Lauren (Amateur Gastronomist) June 30, 2010, 11:40 am

Your new home is beautiful. I can’t even imagine having that much space or such a great kitchen… the joys of city living. Congratulations!
