Favorites and Fame

in All Posts

Have you ever tried to make a list of your favorite foods?  It’s hard to whittle it down and put it in order of most beloved.  Mine (in order):

  • Salsa and chips
  • BEER
  • Pa-naag with tofu from my favorite Thai restaurant
  • Hummus
  • Coffee ice cream
  • Pumpkin Yogurt + raw oatmeal
  • Bananas
  • Pizza
  • Whole wheat pancakes
  • Watermelon
  • Parsnip fries

Hummus ranks pretty far up there!

I made the most delicious hummus, broccoli slaw, and tomato wrap for lunch.  So crunchy and fresh!

Plus, steamed B. Sprouts:

And pickles.  🙂

Guess what I’m doing this evening?  Going to a Pioneer Woman book signing!

If you are not reading PW’s blog, you are missing out.  She is quite arguably the biggest lifestyle/recipe blogger (I once read she gets 1 million hits a DAY) and her recipes, photography, and life story are just fantastic.  The story of how she went from City Girl to Cowgirl is excellent.  Her website is a joy to read!

Um, so I kind of feel like she’s “famous” and am going to freak out when I meet her tonight at the book signing.  I know she’s technically not a celebrity, but in blogland, she certainly is!

Have you ever met a famous person?   Were you nervous or did you play it cool? I met Ricky Martin once at a CD signing, and he kissed my cheek (this is before the entire world knew he batted for the other team, so my teenage heart was quite aflutter).

Haha I tried to make a top 3 fave foods – I limited it to 10!
I’m yet to meet anyone notably famous 🙁 I saw Britney in concert though…that’s the same room! Have a good aftrnoon 🙂

  • Katalina May 12, 2010, 2:48 pm

very delicious lunch, mine was more kind of a breakfast but still very good! good idea with the list I will post mine later 🙂

  • Beth @ Beth's Journey to Thin May 12, 2010, 2:48 pm

hahaha I consider her famous too!

And a favorite food list is so hard to compile but sweet potatoes, black beans, strawberries, bananas, pizza, wine, french fries and……. i could go on! 🙂

  • Sarah (Running to Slow Things Down) May 12, 2010, 2:49 pm

I’ve never met anyone super famous, but I imagine I’d be so in shock that I’d probably do absolutely nothing.

How exciting that you get to go to the book signing! 😀

  • Liz May 12, 2010, 2:49 pm

I met Kendra from the Girls Next Door. I saw her at a club in Vegas and I yelled “I love you Kendra!” And she came over and hugged me 🙂

  • Heather (Heather's Dish) May 12, 2010, 2:49 pm

HOLY COW i am so jealous 🙂 she’s totally famous and by far my favorite blogger! i love how she encompasses all of life and that she talks about how hot her hubby is too 🙂 have fun, and i hope to see a picture of you with her!

  • Annie@stronghealthyfit May 12, 2010, 2:51 pm

I love that Beer is very enthusiastically near the top of your fav. foods list 😉 My husband works at a top-notch microbrewery in Portsmouth NH (The Portsmouth Brewery) and if you are ever in NH you MUST go there. They don’t distribute their beer, so as to lure people to NH.
I met Barack Obama during his campaign!

    • Amy @ The adventures of a ginger grad student May 12, 2010, 6:45 pm

why didn’t I see this a month ago when I was in Portsmouth! I’ll have to check it out next time I go down!

      • Maura May 13, 2010, 8:24 am

I went to UNH & LOVE the Portsmouth Brewery. Was there a couple of weekends ago actually 🙂 I miss it being right down the road!!

  • Shawna @ Balancing Me May 12, 2010, 2:53 pm

I met Jewel, back in the day when she was totally my idol and she was pretty popular. I was such a dork! That’s probably the most famous person I’ve ever met. And since I’ve already told everyone that my secret dream is to be an acoustic singer/songwriter, it was a pretty big deal for me.

  • Sarah for Real May 12, 2010, 2:58 pm

    I met Daniel Baldwin once.

I was dressed as a clown.

He was a “close-talker” (Seinfeld anyone?).

    Pretty creepy…

  • Therese May 12, 2010, 3:01 pm

You’re soooo lucky to be meeting The Pioneer Woman herself! Her blogs are total treats to my day and when I discovered it I told my boyfriend he was going to fall in love with me all over again after I made her food!

I haven’t met anyone crazy famous but I did meet Arturo Sandoval backstage at one of his concerts. He is, unarguably (in my mind, at least) one of the greatest trumpet players alive (even had a movie made about him: “For Love or Country” he was played by Andy Garcia!).

  • brandi May 12, 2010, 3:01 pm

I LOVE PW!!! She is fabulous and is not afraid of butter, which I love.

I’ve met a lot of musicians, but no movie stars or anything.

  • Jessica @ How Sweet May 12, 2010, 3:02 pm

Have an awesome time! I have been trying to campaign for her to come to Pittsburgh… 🙂

  • Michele May 12, 2010, 3:05 pm

I met a few famous people in the days of my impetuous youth traipsing around NYC: Liza Minnelli, David Letterman, Barbara Walters, Reba McIntyre, Sutton Foster, and some others twenty-somethings have probably never heard of.

  • Astrid May 12, 2010, 3:07 pm

Every time I make a favorite foods list, I always list my favorite ingredients. Maybe, a favorite dishes list is something I should make. And be specific about it! I think that you are a celebrity, by the way, and I would most likely be intimidated to meet you! But I am planning on registering for the Healthy Living Summit (when is registration) so maybe I will meet you!! And other “famous” bloggers.

    • Caitlin May 12, 2010, 3:11 pm

haha oh man, i hope i live up to your expectations! i will prob just giggle a lot and use the word epic way too much. LOL

registration is next week, stay tuned for an official announcement.

      • C h a n d r a May 12, 2010, 3:30 pm

hahaha same here! i’d feel a bit star struck meeting you / Jenna / Kath / Tina / etc. !

        • Caitlin May 12, 2010, 3:33 pm

I almost fainted when Angela from OhSheGlows.com walked into my house, I felt like I was meeting a celebrity. LOL.

  • Hillary [Nutrition Nut on the Run] May 12, 2010, 3:07 pm

Have fun tonight. You’ll be in her position soon : )

I noticed the HLS badge on your profile – can’t wait!

  • Estela @ Weekly Bite May 12, 2010, 3:07 pm

So jealous you get to meet PW!

I met Ricky Martin too… back when he was in Menudo 🙂 I had a such a big crush on him I was shaking…. I was only eleven years old!

  • Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg May 12, 2010, 3:07 pm

I think she’s totally a celebrity!! Even beyond blogland!

I met Ryan Gosling at a grocery store in Charleston once. He was with Sandra Bullock, and was filming The Notebook at the time (actually only a block from my house, in one scene!). I freaked out, but I knew I had to talk to him! He was behind me in line, so I told him that I liked his Disney show, Breaker High. He laughed and said, “Oh, so you were our one viewer!” Swoon.

    • Liz May 12, 2010, 8:48 pm

I met Ryan Gosling in Charleston when he was filming the notebook too! I lived on King street about a block from where they were filming! One of my friends worked at Starbucks and she called me to tell me he was there! I like ran there and then casually walked in and got in line a few people behind him. I didn’t talk to him though. I just looked at him and smiled a lot. He probably thought i was a creeper.

      • Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg May 12, 2010, 8:52 pm

Ahhh! I lived on Vanderhorst Street, only a block from where they shot the scene at the movie theater.

Do you know Emily Oye? She worked at Starbucks during that time too! Too funny!

        • Liz May 12, 2010, 9:07 pm

So random but YES I did know Emily in college! I met her through my friend Ginger that worked with her. My best friend was an English major and she and Emily had a lot of classes together so we hung out a bit. She was such a great person. This world is smaller than you think….

  • Jenna May 12, 2010, 3:08 pm

I had a hummus wrap for lunch today, too. Love them and they are so versatile.

I have heard about Pioneer Woman but haven’t ever added her to my Reader. I feel like I’ve been missing out and just added her. 🙂

  • Cat May 12, 2010, 3:10 pm

Holy moly, I clicked over to Pioneer Women’s blog last night after you mentioned her on a Twitter and…well, let’s just say I didn’t get to bed on time last night. I read her ENTIRE love story and was floored! Practically in tears, so, so beautiful!

I’ve never met a celebrity, really, but when I was in Austin, TX, recently for SXSW (big music festival) I ended up at a show a mere 4 feet away from Mary Louise Parker! And she is just as, if not more, beautiful in person that she is on TV. I was definitely star struck!

  • Marlene May 12, 2010, 3:14 pm

Yeah, PW is totally a celebrity! Squeal at will, Caitlin!

I met Elliott Smith after a concert in Montreal, and shook his hand to thank him for the show. When it was time for me to let go, I couldn’t, and ended up putting my other hand on his, so that I was clasping his hand with both my hands instead. It was awkward, but it didn’t matter. I didn’t want to leave him.

And then a year later he died. It was sad.

  • Megan May 12, 2010, 3:14 pm

Love the Pioneer Woman! My neighbor who I babysit for is a friend of her’s from high school!

  • Alex May 12, 2010, 3:15 pm

I’ve met the band 30 Seconds to Mars twice. And I also met Dennis Haskins (Mr. Belding from “Saved by the Bell”)

Was there really a time when the entire world DIDN’T know Ricky Martin batted for the other team? 😛

    Have fun tonight!

  • Heather May 12, 2010, 3:18 pm

most of your favorite foods are so healthy! I wish I “loved” healthy foods. My favorites entail cheese, steak, chocolate, candy, mac and cheese…..hhhmmm lol

  • Lindsay @ Summit Sandwiches May 12, 2010, 3:19 pm

I once got a backstage tour of The Tonight Show, so after the show, I got to see Tyra Banks looking just as gorgeous and seeming just as spaced out and crazy as she normally does on America’s Next Top Model. I also saw Andie MacDowell at the Hotlanta Airport, but that’s about it for the celeb sightings. I have no luck with them!

My parents, on the other hand, have seen loads of people. A couple weeks ago, when they came to see me run the Country Music Half Marathon, they saw Garth Brooks and Wynona Judd in Nashville. I, on the other hand, saw nary a famous soul. Oh well…

  • Sana May 12, 2010, 3:19 pm

I was a foot away from Andy Roddick <3

  • Anna May 12, 2010, 3:20 pm

Did you make the broccoli slaw or buy it? I’ve been wanting to make my own…
Back in the day I met Ian Ziering (Steve on Beverly Hills 90201) and Mark Paul Gossler from Saved by the Bell.Oh I was in love…(both times!) haha

    • Caitlin May 12, 2010, 3:20 pm

i buy it 🙂 making your own seems too labor-intensive!

  • Tricia May 12, 2010, 3:21 pm

Oh boy, last year Pauly Shore came to a local comedy club. I used to loveeee him back in the BioDome days…Son In Law?! Yeahhhh.

So anyway after his show he stuck around for autographs, I went up and he said “YUMMMMM” haha I was like um hi haha. Long story short, me and a couple of girlfriends went out with him and his bodyguards to a bar for drinks where he proceded to tell my friends that I was coming back to his hotel with him. I laughed and was like “Yeah I’ll have to think about that one”. I did not go back to his hotel, I don’t really care how famous you are buddy. But he did however, procede to stick his tongue down my mouth when we left the bar. I laugh every time I see or hear about him haha

  • Samantha Angela @ Bikini Birthday May 12, 2010, 3:22 pm

I saw Jamie Oliver at a book signing in Toronto!

  • Vicki May 12, 2010, 3:22 pm

PW is famous! She’s huge. I love her and I’m so jealous.

I’ve never met anyone famous as far as I remember (and I’m pretty sure I’d remember something like that.)

  • Robyn May 12, 2010, 3:22 pm

I briefly met Tiger Woods at a golf tournament when I was like 12 and I met Kerri Strug (U.S. gymnast who performed her famous vault on an injured ankle to help the U.S. team win gold in the 1996 Olympics. She is still tiny and has a squeaky little voice. She was so sweet and super grateful to everyone who came to meet her.

  • Heather @ (The Single Dish) May 12, 2010, 3:23 pm

PW is going to be famous- they are making a movie about her life. I heard Reese Witherspoon is going to play her.
PW gives us bloggers hope that dreams like that really do come true!

Have fun tonight, I am jealous!!

  • Teacherwoman May 12, 2010, 3:26 pm

I met three of the Minnesota Twins players and had them sign my baseball… I couldn’t believe how nervous I was because I just don’t get all the hype about meeting “celebs”… I didn’t know what to say! LOL

  • Erin @ A Girl & Her Mutt May 12, 2010, 3:28 pm

I really feel like PW is getting famous already! She is on morning news shows, has a movie coming out about her, and it is becoming more and more common to hear people talking about her. I love her approach to blogging and her interaction with her readers is great.

    Have a great time!!!

  • alyssa May 12, 2010, 3:28 pm

if i met you at your book signing, i’d feel like i was meeting a celeb! 🙂

  • C h a n d r a May 12, 2010, 3:28 pm

favorite foods are hard!! lemme see… i really can’t do an order though, because it changes :

    – Hare Krsna temple food
    – Coldstone ice cream
    – cereal
    – PB&Co. peanut butter
    – veggie sushi
    – pizza
    – white chocolate
    – honeycrisp apples
    – sugar snap peas (seriously)
    – Starbucks frappes 😀

    have fun @ the signing!!!

  • Claire May 12, 2010, 3:29 pm

Love the list. I agree about chips and salsa (guac too-sorry!), hummus, sweet potato fries, kale, oatmeal, bananas, raspberries, and CHOCOLATE.

Famous people…I have met kind of a lot because I work on films. Recently I worked with Faye Dunaway, Christopher Walken, Val Kilmer, Freddie Rodriquez, and a bunch more and hopefully one of my idols this summer (embarrassed to tell her I read her book and love her, ha!).

When I was younger, I met Bill Clinton and Hillary twice when they were golfing near our house on MV. I also went to a bbq and met Martha Stewart and her pups.

  • Katie@ Two Lives, One Lifestyle May 12, 2010, 3:29 pm

I can’t stop reading this PW blog… oh my gosh, how did I not know about this before?!?? I can’t not read this entire love story I just started! Have fun tonight!

  • Julie May 12, 2010, 3:31 pm

    I met Prince William….in a unisex locker room in Scotland….in a speedo 🙂

And that concludes my celebrity stalking..I mean sightings.

  • Anita May 12, 2010, 3:35 pm

Wow–my 2 favorite bloggers in the same room together?! Wish I could be there!
I met Curtis Stone at a food expo here in Cleveland. He’s so tall and gorgeous!! And he was wearing the most awesome pair of red and black boots! Yum…

  • Laine @ Beets, Butter & Moutaintops May 12, 2010, 3:35 pm

    Love her! Jealous.

The first time I found PW, I was late for work because I couldn’t stop reading the love story. Good thing I work for myself.

    • Laine @ Beets, Butter & Moutaintops May 12, 2010, 3:36 pm

Oh, and for famous people, I didn’t meet her but I did see Shiva Rea in the cafeteria at Kripalu. She was much shorter than I imagined.

  • Jill May 12, 2010, 3:35 pm

I met all five of the New Kids On The Block. OMG. Let’s just say, it was my dream since I was 12 years old. They were all so sweet, and Jordan Knight in person, his skin is like butta! <3

  • Johanna B May 12, 2010, 3:42 pm

I met Donald Sutherland in the Barnes & Noble where I was working. He came into the software section and I asked him if I could help him find something. Everyone in the store was staring at him the whole time he was there.

  • Tracey @ I'm Not Superhuman May 12, 2010, 3:43 pm

I love the Pioneer Woman. She’s totally a celebrity to me.

I’ve met a few. I interviewed Lorraine Bracco of Goodfellas (a riot) and Milo Ventimiglia when he just started Heroes (nicest guy ever).

And then I saw Terrence Howard in Panera one day. I wouldn’t have noticed him except that he was wearing a cowboy hat over his hood. Kind of stood out!

  • Christina May 12, 2010, 3:44 pm

As a former skater I know, or have at least met, a lot of famous figure skaters, many hockey players and a few other Olmpic Athletes. I’ve also met Keith Urban, Chantal Kreviazuk, Joshua Jackson, Michael Buble (it was a few years ago now, right after he was on Oprah just before he got huge, but he got my number!) and Melissa Gilbert!

  • Kacy May 12, 2010, 3:45 pm

I don’t think I’ve ever met a famous person. If I have they clearly didn’t impress me too much, lol.

Love PW! Have fun at the signing!

  • Karen @ Not Just Celery May 12, 2010, 3:46 pm

I just recently met Tara from Biggest Loser Season 7 and Jackie Warner from the Bravo show Workout – I was a little nervous but it’s important to remember that celebs are people too! Just be yourself!

  • sarah May 12, 2010, 3:47 pm

Lucky you! I love the Pioneer Woman!

  • Andrea @ Run, Eat, Date, Sleep May 12, 2010, 3:50 pm

To be honest, I clump Pioneer Woman, you, Kath, and some others all in the same “celeb blogger” category.

I’ve met a few Biggest Loser contestants, Kathy Ireland, some Braves players, and you 🙂

  • Olivia @ Blissful Runner May 12, 2010, 3:51 pm

My husband and I ran into Adam Sandler in Sonoma County once. I played it real cool and hollered, “Hey look! It’s Adam Sandler!” In my defense, I didn’t think it was REALLY him, just a look-alike. Regardless of my intentions, my husband about died.

  • Stacey May 12, 2010, 3:52 pm

I once got to meet the band members of Guster – you would have thought I was meeting Zac Efron or Justin Bieber, all nervous and giddy.

And I totally ruined my chance at meeting running legend and training genius Hal Higdon. He was ten feet from me, there was one person in line and the only thing I had on me to get signed was my race number but not a Sharpie in sight. So I chickened out…still kicking myself for it…

  • Retta @ RunRettaRun May 12, 2010, 4:03 pm

I love her! I would probably be totally geeking out myself if I were to meet a celebrity blogger.

  • KatieTX May 12, 2010, 4:07 pm

I am a weather nerd and got to meet and talk to Jim Cantore and a couple other people from the weather channel in New Orleans. I was super excited. I also met the lead singer of Something Corporate, old emo band, when I was 16. I touched him when he did a stage dive and I got a hug and a picture after…*sigh* My uncle is on the radio and meets famous people all the time. It is pretty cool.

  • Hedda May 12, 2010, 4:11 pm

Yes, I have met some famous Norwegians.
I used to work at a food store, and there were often people starring in Norwegian soap operaes who shopped there.
And I have met and talked to some famous Norwegian anthropologists and political commentators. That made me a bit nervous, especially when we had one of them as professor for our subject. But he was the kindest and most knowledgeable man, and it was just a great pleasure.
And, haha, oh, this memory makes me laugh ;p When I was younger my best friend and I was convinced that Aaron Carter was playing at the local tennis court. There was no doubt in our mind, it just had to be him.
    Except that it was not.

I will check out her blog, and hope that you enjoy the meeting ^^

  • Jes (Self Motivation) May 12, 2010, 4:12 pm

Hahaha, does meeting you count? I was nervous to meet you at the Operation Beautiful event on campus.

Now this is uber dorky… I was at the American Academy of Forensic Science conference and got into the elevator only to notice that the man standing next to me was the author of my Intro to Forensic Science book. I asked if I could take a picture with him. My co-workers never let me live it down.

  • Megan May 12, 2010, 4:14 pm

I met Joshua Jackson at Buffalo Wild Wings in my hometown (which is where Dawson’s Creek was filmed). My friends and I totally left the party we were at because we heard he was at BW3’s and we wanted to meet him.

I also met my Ryan Adams after a concert in Charleston. He is my favorite singer ever and I totally froze up when I met him. He stuck out his hand to introduce himself and I just stood there with a dumb look on my face. Finally my husband (then boyfriend) grabbed the CD I was holding and asked him to sign it for me. What can I say? I am totally cool!

    • Carrie @ I See Monsters May 12, 2010, 9:52 pm

OK, you are like my twin. (See embarrassing Joshua Jackson story below, ha!)

Also, Ryan Adams is my favorite of all time and I had the chance to meet him at a semi-private concert but chickened out. I just didn’t know how to talk to him without sounding like an idiot. What do you say to someone whose music means EVERYTHING to you without sounding like a crazy person? So, instead, I said nothing. This is a theme with my important celebrity sightings it seems. 😉

  • shannon (the daily balance) May 12, 2010, 4:18 pm

pioneer woman is my #1 girl crush! i ADORE HER! so jealous! can’t wait to hear all about it!

    • shannon (the daily balance) May 12, 2010, 4:22 pm

in regards to famous people: due to modeling/acting, i’ve had the pleasure (and displeasure in some cases) of meeting: Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jamie Lee Curtis, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, Jay-Z and Beyonce, Rue McCallahan (Blanche from Golden Girls), a bunch of semi-famous musicians and JC from NSYNC

  • Kellie May 12, 2010, 4:19 pm

I just picked up brussels at the store, I can’t wait to have them with my lunch (and dinner too)

  • Lindsay @ The Ketchup Diaries May 12, 2010, 4:28 pm

Mmmmmm. Salsa & chips and beer. Sounds so good right now! Why does beer have to be so good? And, in the nice weather, I just can’t help myself!

  • Janie May 12, 2010, 4:29 pm

LOVE PW!! Her book is awesome. Have a great time 🙂 xo

  • Mama Pea May 12, 2010, 4:34 pm

I freakin’ love PW. My goal is to have my book be like the Pea version of hers. Tell her I said “Whassup.” 😉

  • Liz May 12, 2010, 4:35 pm

    What?!? Ricky Martin’s GAY?

I wish I was kidding. I’m a pop music addict. And I did not know that.

    Shameful.

  • Dynamics May 12, 2010, 4:36 pm

I met and hung out with Betty White. She is amazing!!! I bumped into, literally I bumped right into Jerry Lewis in his younger days. Man that man was gorgeous.

  • sarah May 12, 2010, 4:39 pm

I’ve met some semi-famous people through my job: David McCullough, the historian, and Lorraine Bracco from “The Sopranos.” I sat across from Paul Giamatti on a subway. That was cool.

  • runnerforever May 12, 2010, 4:40 pm

Living in LA, I think I have met a lot of famous people but not realized it haha.

  • Ashley May 12, 2010, 4:41 pm

I met the Pussy Cat Dolls and Christina Aguilera in 2007. I think I was most shocked at how skinny the PCD are and how short Christina is haha

  • Kelly @ Healthy Living With Kelly May 12, 2010, 4:42 pm

I met Jerry Seinfield when I was 15…it was cool.

  • Kait May 12, 2010, 4:58 pm

I haven’t ever met anyone super famous, but I feel like I’d probably be a little awkward and freeze up…haha. And I love your list of favorite foods, I’m on board with every except for the bananas! I love the flavor of bananas but I can not do the texture.

  • Amy May 12, 2010, 4:58 pm

I’m so jealous you get to see Pioneer Woman tonight! She and Stephanie Nielson (nieniedialogues) are my blogland superheroes. 🙂 I’ve met lots of Broadway celebs. I try to play it cool but inside I freak out!

  • Corinne (breathe and savor) May 12, 2010, 5:01 pm

eeeeeeeeee have FUN!! I have never had these parsnip fries you speak so highly of…new veggie of the week perhaps! 🙂

  • Karen w May 12, 2010, 5:02 pm

Oh, I would probably get star struck too over Pioneer Woman! Love, love, love her blog!

  • Allison K May 12, 2010, 5:07 pm

I love PW! So much. seriously. I can’t wait until the movie about her life comes out! I got her cookbook for christmas and would LOVE to go to a book signing.

I’ve met Bill Cosby, but it was in the 80’s when the Cosby Show was huge. I was 5 or 6. He was a witness in my dad’s courtoom (my dad was the judge).

  • Emmanuelle May 12, 2010, 5:31 pm

I definitely have to check PW’s blog then, I have no idea who she is 🙂

I’ve been to a couple of fashion shows in Paris and Florence for my job so I got to see (not really meet) a bunch of famous people over here, fashion designers such as Jean-Paul Gaultier or Sonia Rykiel, and some of their guests 🙂

  • Lisa May 12, 2010, 5:35 pm

I met Stephen Fry at the opening of the movie “Wilde.” I am a huge Oscar Wilde fan and a huge fan of BBC’s “Fry and Laurie.” I got his autograph and he was really nice! 🙂

  • Jennifer S May 12, 2010, 5:41 pm

So jealous – I’ve been reading on PW’s blog about her Orlando adventures. I can’t recall any celebrities, maybe some minor league baseball players?

    Have fun!

  • Heather I. May 12, 2010, 5:44 pm

I’ve seen a lot of celebs, but never have “met” one 🙁 And I would totally consider Ree to be a famous person!

  • Kristin (Cook, Bake and Nibble) May 12, 2010, 6:05 pm

I met John Edwards (the psychic) at Good Morning America… so I met all of that crew too… as well as Marc Jacobs… at a drag club… no, i am not kidding. 😉

Hi Caitlin! I love reading your blog. Your recipes are always so creative and healthy. I was going to the bathroom a few minutes before a concert (in southern California). I was rushing in when someone asks me if I had a cigarette on me. I quickly said no and that I didn’t smoke without looking who was asking. As I looked up, it was Drew Barrymore!!! I was completely starstruck and at that moment could not remember even a single movie she had been in!!! LOL! She was very sweet!

    • caitlin May 12, 2010, 6:08 pm

      thanks for reading!

that’s a pretty cool celeb meet up!

  • sarah May 12, 2010, 6:15 pm

So jealous you are going to a PW book signing. I just started reading her a few months ago and love everything about her blog! I’ve never met a famous person but I went to the Superbowl a few years back and as I was walking into sit down I bumped into someone, when I looked up it was Ashton Kutcher! That was back when he was on that 70s show and had his own MTV reality show, he is super tall in person and just as cute 🙂

  • Erin May 12, 2010, 6:15 pm

So jealous that you are meeting PW! We are actually traveling to the area tomorrow…a day too late. 🙁 I hope you have a blast!

  • Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter May 12, 2010, 6:34 pm

I can’t believe I have never heard of her. I’ve seen Arnold Swartzenagger and his wife when my family was in Sun Valley (forgive my spelling of the last name).

  • Ilana May 12, 2010, 7:20 pm

    AMAZING! I love her.

I actually juist met my favorite author, Chuck Palahniuk, a week ago… I was SO NERVOUS! This man has affected a major part of my life and cognitive process, and I have read every word he has ever published. I had no idea what to say to him that when I finally met him I ended up babbling something incoherent about how the first time I read a novel of his, I was so into it that I missed my bus and my subway, twice. He was so cool though – he wrote in my book, “Sorry for ruining your young life!” which is hysterical and amazing to me.

I’ve met a few others – Tony Bennett (who founded my high school and is now married to my high school history teacher), Rudy Giuliani, George Bush Sr, Larry King, Mohammed Ali, Boyd Tinsley from DMB, Criss Angel (ew he hit on me and I was fifteen) .. um .. I think that’s it? But since Chuck Palahniuk happened last week, it’s sooooo fresh in my mind. It was amazing to meet him! I’m excited for you to meet PW!

    • Caitlin May 12, 2010, 9:57 pm

what a great thing to sign in your book… LOL i love him.

  • Jessica @ The Process of Healing May 12, 2010, 7:29 pm

That’s so cool that you are meeting her!! I think if I met a lot of bloggers(you included) I would FREAK OUT!

  • Amanda (Amanda "Runs") May 12, 2010, 7:38 pm

Hummus, I LOVE hummus! Last year I had it for the first time during a review for a quiz.. mmm. I’ve met Chris Ballew from PUSA, (presidents of the USA, a band. They’re tight with my dad.) a Ricky Martin look-alike at the crab shack, (my brother thought he was the real deal) and my teachers. (who I consider famous in their own right)

  • Jenn May 12, 2010, 7:57 pm

I love PW, she’s awesome and so is her blog. I love Charlie and his stories, they’re funny.
I actually went to a Curtis Stone book signing a couple of months ago. I have not stopped talking about him since! So HAWT! Pics in my blog if you’re interested. Have fun meeting PW!

  • Mary May 12, 2010, 8:19 pm

Do you make your own broccoli-slaw?

Chips and salsa are DEFINITELY number one on my list. I was just telling my boyfriend this yesterday!

    • Caitlin May 12, 2010, 9:58 pm

nope i buy the pre-shredded kind!

  • Cindi May 12, 2010, 8:33 pm

So happy ketchup didn’t make your list! ECK!!! 😉

My favorite celebrity meeting was when I met Matthew Perry on the Santa Monica Pier. It was at his height of playing Chandler and I had the BIGGEST crush! I went up and said, “I hate to bother you, but I had to come and meet you” – and he just said, “Hi, I’m Matthew” – and I said, “Duh!”. OMG – I’m such a spaz! Anyway – LOVE HIM!

In the blogger world – I’ve met the infamous Dooce a few times – even had coffee with she and Leta once. She is precious!

  • Tara May 12, 2010, 9:24 pm

I could eat brussel sprouts at every meal!

  • Carrie @ I See Monsters May 12, 2010, 9:42 pm

I used to live/work in the TV business in L.A. so I met a lot of “famous” people. The only one I ever geeked out about happened on accident and not because of my job. One time in my work building the elevator doors opened and my one true love, Joshua Jackson, got on the elevator. (This was while Dawson’s Creek was still on the air.) I literally could not speak, move, anything! He rode down for 10 floors and I could not find a voice to say one word to him. He got off the elevator and I stayed on and started screaming. I’m sure he heard me.

    Yup, I’m a dork. 😉

    • Caitlin May 12, 2010, 9:58 pm

      hahah awesome story.

  • Rachael May 12, 2010, 9:51 pm

When I was in college in NYC, one of my jobs was at a clothing store in Soho. The day before Christmas Eve, we got hit up by Britney Spears, Sigourney Weaver and finally, Laura Bush. Given my, um, opinionated political nature, I was banished to the stockroom lest I try to talk to Mrs.Bush about her husband’s policies.

  • jessica May 12, 2010, 10:18 pm

I regularly run into the ladies from the Real Housewives of NJ, but that’s not that strange since I live in the same town as three of them! They’re just normal, down to earth women (minus Danielle) but I still feel like I am running into a celebrity!

  • Jolene (www.everydayfoodie.ca) May 12, 2010, 11:35 pm

I only met 1 famous person and I got all flustered (it was Jacob Hoggard from Hedley) LOL 🙂 I love him.

  • Amber K @ sparkpeople May 13, 2010, 12:38 am

I don’t think I could even begin to list my favorite foods.

I have never met any celebrities, but I have no clue what I would say if I did!

  • Susan May 13, 2010, 7:36 am

oooh, oooh, can’t wait to read your PW recap. I just spent the other weekend reading her whole black heels to tractor wheels story again (cause you know, I don’t have another million important things in my life to be doing instead).

I interviewed Corey Haim when I was working as a reporter, he shot a movie in my town. Honestly, it was kinda sad. He was visibly mentally ill and looked like someone who’d had a very, very rough life.

Oh! And I made Jack White’s latte (from the White Stripes) when I worked at Starbucks. He ordered a grande sugar-free vanilla nonfat latte. My hands were shaking the whole time!

  • Aubrey S. May 13, 2010, 8:31 am

Do you make your own hummus. My husband makes ours, and I love it!

I worked in hotels in college, and while doing so, I met several famous comedians and music artists (including Carrot Top and Shania Twain).

    • Caitlin May 13, 2010, 8:54 am

noooo i’m so lazy. i buy it in bulk from costco usually. LOL

  • Maura May 13, 2010, 8:32 am

I love hearing all these stories & can’t wait to check out PW’s blog. I’ve met a few famous people in my day: Steven Tyler & Joe Perry, Steve Carrell, Ben Stiller & family, and Larry Bird. They all have ties to the Boston area and are around quite a bit!

  • kirsten May 13, 2010, 8:37 am

I met Sarah Michelle Gellar once, it was right before she was on Buffy, she was doing a signing with a bunch of soap opera stars at a mall in NYC and I happened to be there and knew who she was from this teen show Swans Crossing she was in. I was SO excited haha 🙂

  • Terri May 13, 2010, 9:53 am

When I worked at a kennel/grooming shop in Charlottesville, I met Stefan Lessard (DMB bassist) when he brought his dogs in for baths. We talked about how the one dog had ‘adopted’ him when they stopped in Atlanta.
Also, I met Dan Lavery (Tonic bassist) after a show with Gin Blossoms in Fredericksburg. We shared our affection for the now closed Traxx in Charlottesville.

  • Annie May 13, 2010, 4:30 pm

Chips and salsa is near the top of my list! My favorite would have to be my family’s black beans and rice (we’re from Miami/Tampa). Always makes me think of the beach and my family. So delicious on so many levels.

Also, I met the Pioneer Woman last November when she came out west! Her blog is checked daily. 🙂
