Three Woofs For the Weekend

in All Posts

YA! It’s the weekend!

James is excited.

IMG_6305

No really, he is.  🙂

My car is back from the shop (I was in an accident last Thursday).  It’s as good as new now – AND I finalllly get to put my Marathon sticker on!

IMG_6302

All, down to business:

Afternoon snacks included 1/2 a melon and Honey Nut Cheerios.

And dinner was 1.5 cups of brown rice with a little Alfredo sauce mixed in, with a side of roasted mushrooms, broccoli, parsnip, potatoes, and carrots.

I am happy to say that I think I have learned to LIKE veggies.  It’s all about finding a method (like roasting with EVOO and pepper) and a variety of good veggies.  I LOVE Potatoes. 🙂

IMG_6313

Well kids… tonight I am going bowling.  And drinking beer(s).  Maybe snagging a few French fries.  :)   I bet I break 100 this time!

Hope you’re having a nice night, too.  🙂

It took me the longest time to figure out what was going on near James’ tail… I thought Maggie’s ear was an extra tail of his or something, haha.

    Have fun bowling!

    • Shelly January 30, 2010, 10:33 am

      I saw the same thing!

  • Island Girl Eats January 29, 2010, 8:59 pm

When it comes to veggies (and liking them!) you have to make them interesting like you did tonight.

    Have fun bowling.

  • Evan Thomas January 29, 2010, 9:14 pm

I really could not live without veggies any which way, but roasting is like the king of preparation. You could probably roast a shoe and it’d be good

  • Lindsay Perrone (goodiesgalore) January 29, 2010, 9:20 pm

Is that Maggies ear coming out of of James’s butt? Very funny.

  • Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg January 29, 2010, 9:21 pm

    Yay for civics!!!

Mmmm…rice with alfredo sauce…that sounds like a good combo!

    Happy weekend!

  • Sam (Merit to the Carrot) January 29, 2010, 9:24 pm

So very happy to hear that you’ve found a new appreciation for veggies and all they have to offer! Roasted = marvelous!

  • Tracey January 29, 2010, 9:26 pm

I LOVE bowling. I used to do it all the time when I was back home in Nebraska. So fun!

  • Karla January 29, 2010, 9:35 pm

I just got back from bowling! I had pizza and cookies! Great splurge! I scored 90!

    Have fun!

  • Julie January 29, 2010, 9:37 pm

James! My goodness! Put it away!

  • Mara @ What's For Dinner? January 29, 2010, 9:37 pm

James apparently liked Maggie’s nose up his butt… hilarious!

  • Allie (Live Laugh Eat) January 29, 2010, 9:43 pm

Rock that sticker, Civic!! Have fun at the alley!

  • Cynthia (It All Changes) January 29, 2010, 9:47 pm

I was just thinking who is Caitlin….the Caitlin we’ve read hates veggies. But you are right it is all about the method of prep. Roasting imparts so much flavor 🙂

  • Annie January 29, 2010, 9:50 pm

I’m on a quest to learn to LOVE veggies! I thought I did, but upon starting my blog, I realized my diet had hardly ANY! Time to amp it up! Your veggie-filled dinner looks amazing!

    • Jessica @ The Process of Healing January 29, 2010, 10:12 pm

Me too!! Having a blog has for sure brought more veggies into my life. I’m always looking for new ways to prepare them and make them exciting!

  • Jenna @ RunEatRide January 29, 2010, 10:04 pm

James is too cute! 🙂 Have fun bowling!

  • Jenna January 29, 2010, 10:09 pm

You are lovin bowling lately caitlin!

  • Jessica @ The Process of Healing January 29, 2010, 10:11 pm

Have fun bowling, and your dinner sounds great! Having a great way to prepare them and add tons of flavor is KEY! You can’t eat steamed veggies forever and actually enjoy them.

And this sounds pretty lame but I totally just now realized what 26.2 means.. wow.. I see them on cars all of the time and i’ve always wondered. Gee.. blonde moment..

  • Erin (Travel, Eat, Repeat) January 29, 2010, 10:14 pm

Woo hoo love the new bumper sticker!

  • Jenna @ EatingGreen, StayingLean January 29, 2010, 10:20 pm

That’s awesome! I’m just entering the world of ‘roasting veggies’ because they’re delicious. If you’re a parsnip fan, try roasting parsnips and carrots (chopped to the same size) with evoo, garlic powder, salt and pepper in the oven for about 30-40ish minutes @ 400 degrees.

    It’s yummy!

Also, have a great time bowling…it’s always fun with a few beers 🙂

  • Tyler Ramey January 29, 2010, 10:23 pm

Your veggies look amaaaaazing. We’re planning another spin-a-thon soon…you in??? 😉

  • Tiffany @ A Dantat's Life January 29, 2010, 11:10 pm

mmmm…. I also think roasted veggies are one of the best methods of cooking them! Have fun bowling!

  • Tiffany January 29, 2010, 11:27 pm

Uh oh….the dreaded “lipstick” is making an appearance!

    • Caitlin January 30, 2010, 1:08 pm

      Pink Rocket!

  • Katharine January 29, 2010, 11:36 pm

I have a Honda Civic too and LOVE it. They are the best cars – glad to hear yours is back in perfect health and proudly wearing its new sticker. 🙂

  • Foy Update - Cook. Garden. Write. Repeat. January 30, 2010, 12:57 am

I love roasted vegetables. I’ve been buying Brussels sprouts and roasting them with potatoes and sweet potatoes for dinner every night. Drizzel a little olive oil, salt, pepper, oregano, basil, hot pepper, thyme and rosemary. It sounds like a lot of spices but they really help the flavor. Sooo good!

  • Heather (Heather's Dish) January 30, 2010, 2:19 am

i just had a couple of beers, and it was so great to just sit back and relax! hope you guys have a wonderful evening 🙂

I love James. 🙂 He’s too cute! Love your 26.2 sticker – I get to add mine to my car on Sunday when I run Miami!

  • Kloé January 30, 2010, 8:39 am

Your dog is SO BEAUTIFUL! I want one, but not as long as I’m still living in an apartment… cause it’s gonna be a Big dog ;-)and on a side note, I feel that parsnip is often overlooked, but it’s so flavorful!

  • Bridget January 30, 2010, 8:48 am

Glad that your car is back, 26.2 sticker and all!

Roasted veggies are the best kind! My mom always boiled them…not nearly as appetizing (except artichokes). I wonder how roasted artichokes would be…hmm. Very glad that you have developed a taste for vegetables, though-there are so many! 🙂

  • Heather January 30, 2010, 8:57 am

Hope you had fun bowling! I love to bowl. I have a bowling event for work next week and am really looking forward to it!
