Fit Bloggin’ 2010

in Fit Bloggin' 2010

Good afternoon!  Megan and I ran 6.0 miles this morning.  It was obvious that we BOTH appreciated having a running partner today!

We managed to squeak out the mileage at a decent pace, but I had to stop and ask her if we could walk several times towards the end.  I don’t think I’m fully recovered from my illness yet.  She said she didn’t mind, and that’s one of the things I like about running with Megan – she’s flexible.

  • Duration: 1 hour, 3 minutes
  • Distance: 6.0 miles
  • Mile 1: 9:58
  • Mile 2: 9:48
  • Mile 3: 10:21
  • Mile 4: 10:27
  • Mile 5: 11:37
  • Mile 6: 11:12

I came home and crashed on the floor.  I only let my dogs lick my face after a run since I’m getting in the shower anyway!

I think they like the salt? Eww.  🙂

I showered, iced my knees, and ate another Glo bar (my stash is rapidly dwindling):

Worked a little, and then I made lunch:

I had Lentil soup from Wolfgang Puck, which looks disgusting but tastes amazing:

And about 1.5 servings of crackers with cheese:

Fit Bloggin’ 2010

I’ve been tweeting like a madwoman about the Fit Bloggin’ 2010 conference.  Fit Bloggin’ is a conference for those that blog about fitness, wellness, good food, and a healthy lifestyle. It’s an opportunity to connect, learn, grow, and network.

image

Fit Bloggin’ will take place on March 20, 2010 in Baltimore, and I’ll be speaking on the panel called: Beyond the Blog: Publishing Books and Other Forms of Media.  I’m excited to be on the panel, and hopefully it will help me get over my public speaking nerves before my book tour! 🙂

One of the things I liked about Fit Bloggin’ is that there are two “tracks” for the attendees, so you don’t have to listen to a panel that doesn’t apply to your goals or interests.    Panel options include:

  • “Don’t write about junk science: How to critically evaluate research” OR “Blogs, Accessibility and SEO: Dispelling the Myths”
  • “Getting Noticed: How to Pitch to Traditional Media” OR “Wordpress from .com to Self Hosted: An in Depth look into one of the Most popular Blogging Softwares out there”
  • “Beyond the Blog: Publishing Books and Other Forms of Media” OR “Body Image and Blogging: What are we teaching our kids?”
  • “Using Social Media to Reach Goals: The Power of an Online Community” OR “Making Money From Your Blog: Should You? Could You? How?”

Everyone gets to attend sessions on yoga and strength training, as well as the keynote speaker (to be announced).    Plus – there’s a cocktail party and a fun run!  The complete detailed schedule for the conference is available here.   This conference is definitely aimed at bloggers, but I think readers would get a lot of out it, too.

I hope you join me in Baltimore!  :)  I love to meet new people, so don’t be shy if you feel like you won’t know anyone – you’ll know me!  Tickets are $75 on the early bird special, but that only lasts until SATURDAY.  You can register here.

Are you going to Fit Bloggin’ or any other blogger conference in the future?  It’s fun to go from ‘electronic friends’ to ‘real friends’ with people! 🙂

Wow that sounds like so much fun! And Baltimore is actually really close to me. May have to twist the hubby’s arm and see what he says 🙂

  • Amanda (Two Boos Who Eat) October 27, 2009, 12:40 pm

I’m going to Foodbuzz but I might have to check my funds and see if Fit Bloggin’ is a possibility as well!

  • Leah @ Simply fabulous October 27, 2009, 12:41 pm

That sounds like such a good opportunity! I would love to do something like that. I have a fear of public speaking as well, but I am sure you will do so well!!

Glad you had Megan to run with today. Like I told her earlier, I wish I had someone to run with!!

  • Gina October 27, 2009, 12:44 pm

    Can’t wait for FitBloggin!
I was going to wake up early and run 5 miles this morning, but it was pouring outside! The cooler weather definitely makes it more motivating to get outside.

  • Estela @ Weekly Bite October 27, 2009, 12:45 pm

Glad you had a great run today!

The fit bloggin looks like a great opportunity!
    I’m close to Balitmore… maybe I’ll go?

  • Caitlin in MD October 27, 2009, 12:46 pm

I’m not going to the conference but I live in Baltimore. Born and raised. If you think you’ll have time to do anything outside of the conference (eat out, etc.) I can share suggestions 🙂

  • Jessica @ How Sweet It Is October 27, 2009, 12:47 pm

Hmm…can I still go to fitbloggin’ if most of my posts include vats full of butter?

    • Caitlin October 27, 2009, 12:51 pm

      yes. 🙂

  • Lauren (athlEAT) October 27, 2009, 12:47 pm

I am definitely going!! I live right in downtown Baltimore, like 5 mins away! Great running path around the inner harbor that passes the hotel.

  • Anna October 27, 2009, 12:48 pm

Ah! sound awesome! I’ll be back at school in DC in March so I could definitely make that happen. I’ll check it out some more.

  • Marisa (Trim The Fat) October 27, 2009, 12:49 pm

I’m really excited for FitBloggin! Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Public speaking is SCARY!!! I know you’ll do great!

  • Katie October 27, 2009, 12:51 pm

totally going! it’ll be my first conference. i’m excited…

  • Danny (Beer in Shape) October 27, 2009, 12:53 pm

Lentil soup is AWESOME!! are those carrots or pumpkin chunks in it??? btw, BEER hydrates you better than water after a long run (of course, only having a little bit of it, like a fourth to half a bottle)… Check it out (I know, I was like… “what???????” http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/435917/beer_may_be_a_better_option_than_water.html

    • Caitlin October 27, 2009, 12:54 pm

danny, this is reason 1,000,000 why i love you.

  • Sarah @ See Sarah Eat October 27, 2009, 12:57 pm

I wish I could go but I don’t think I can afford it yet! Hopefully I’ll get into the blog conferences before too long 🙂

  • Paige (Running Around Normal) October 27, 2009, 12:59 pm

That sounds awesome! I wish it weren’t all the way in Baltimore though! The price of the convention isn’t too shabby though. We’ll see…I’d really love to go:)

  • Sana October 27, 2009, 1:03 pm

I am goinggg! Its my first one and I can’t waitttt!

  • MelissaNibbles October 27, 2009, 1:04 pm

That’s a great price for a conference. I need to see about swinging airfare and hotel before I decide. I want to go!

  • Evan Thomas October 27, 2009, 1:06 pm

It sounds like an awesome event. I wish I had been a serious blogger back for the summit because that was in my hometown. Baltimore seems a bit too far to travel.

  • Stephanie October 27, 2009, 1:08 pm

I am SO glad you posted this on your site – I live in Richmond, VA so this would be easily accessible and sounds like a great opportunity to learn and meet other bloggers… I think I’m in and going to try to recruit some more folks too – thanks Caitlin!!!! 🙂

  • Kim October 27, 2009, 1:08 pm

My cat always licks my arms and face and legs when I get back from a run! She gets so in to it – eyes closed, purring. I think you’re right – it’s the salt!

  • Diana October 27, 2009, 1:15 pm

That conference looks sooo interesting. We have nothing like that here, for bloggers at least.

  • Ashley October 27, 2009, 1:18 pm

yay to the fitbloggin conference! can’t wait for it! and the area where the hotel is at is beautiful! right next to the harbor, and also Whole Foods 🙂

  • Joelle (The Pancake Girl) October 27, 2009, 1:19 pm

    I want to go!

  • Susan October 27, 2009, 1:19 pm

I’ve been debating that conference for a while now!! I could easily drive there, but still not sure if I have the $$ for it! I might have to go several weeks without groceries 😛 (would be ironic, for a fit blogger conference and all…)

  • Runeatrepeat October 27, 2009, 1:22 pm

    I am so there 🙂

  • Rebecca @ Durch Dick und Duenn October 27, 2009, 1:29 pm

first time comenter, long time lurker…

i’ll be there… and wow…so many other bloggers i don’t read will be there too…guess it’s time to do my homework!

    • Caitlin October 27, 2009, 1:33 pm

yay cannot wait to meet u!

  • megan October 27, 2009, 1:31 pm

haha I’m with Jessica about not being sure I’m allowed to go… 🙂 I’m fit, I’m a blogger, but I tend to blog about the 20 different types of desserts I make each month, so I’m not sure I’m completely qualified… 🙂

    • Caitlin October 27, 2009, 1:33 pm

i think part of being a fit blogger is having dessert!

  • Kristen @ frostingandfroth.com October 27, 2009, 1:36 pm

Thanks for the info on Fit Bloggin’ 2010. It sounds like an awesome conference. I only wish it was closer to home for me. It’s a long way from California!

Dogs definitely enjoy the taste of salt on your skin. Your doggies are too cute.

  • Felicia October 27, 2009, 1:38 pm

Thanks so much for the info about Fit Bloggin! I’m in NYC, so I definitely might go – pretty easy trip and sounds like it will be really interesting.

And my dog used to be obsessed with licking me after workouts and showers (post-lotion application)! Odd but definitely agree that salt clearly plays a factor.

  • allijag October 27, 2009, 1:41 pm

LOL – I do the same thing with Lando – only when I’m sweaty 😉

I really want to go to FitBloggin (it’s “not too far” and I just adore Roni!) but I don’t think the hubs would be too excited about me spending the money. I keep seeing you and others tweet about it and it pulls at my heartstrings – I really want to go! Especially now that I iknow you are talking!

  • Julie @ Peanut Butter Fingers October 27, 2009, 1:42 pm

oooooh i would love to go! it sounds amazing! i gotta do some pricing/saving though! are you finding any cheap flights out of orlando? (i live in orlando too!)

  • Island Girl Eats October 27, 2009, 1:44 pm

Good job on your run. I know when I have had a chest infection it takes a while for your endurance to get back to where it used to be. Be patient – it will be back before you know it!

  • brandi October 27, 2009, 1:48 pm

I think FitBlogging sounds great, but I’ll have to see what the budget is. The registrations I can always handle – it’s the flying there/hotel that usually does it for me.

    Great job on the run!

  • Jenna October 27, 2009, 1:51 pm

yay for heaving such a good friend like megan! and congrats on fit bloggin! sounds like a lot of fun 🙂

  • Lauren October 27, 2009, 2:09 pm

Caitlin-I don’t know if I can afford fitbloggin this year, but I absolutely LOVE to meet new people, especially food bloggers. I live in the Baltimore area and was wondering if you think you will be getting together in the evening with people, maybe for dinner? I would love to join on those events if possible. I’m a huge fan of your blog, and would love to meet other bloggers!
    Lauren

    • Caitlin October 27, 2009, 2:11 pm

yes! im sure i’ll do a dinner on that friday or something – stay tuned, i’d love to meet you too!

  • Chloe (Naturally Frugal) October 27, 2009, 2:14 pm

That sounds like fun, but Baltimore is a little too far away for me and my budget. Can’t wait to hear more about it though!
Also – yes, dogs are gross becuase they like the salt on your face. And by “your” I mean everyones. Silly doggies.

  • Mellissa October 27, 2009, 2:29 pm

That looks like a lot of fun! I love going to new things and meeting new people.

I wish the flights from LA to Baltimore weren’t so expensive!

  • kelly October 27, 2009, 4:26 pm

Caitlin–how do we look into roommates for this event? I would be coming from Dallas and know not a soul 😉

    • Caitlin October 27, 2009, 4:28 pm

i will ask roni and maybe she’ll set up a page on the site! i’ll announce it if she does.

  • Angie (Losing It and Loving It) October 27, 2009, 8:55 pm

Looks like a yummy lunch to me! And aww I love doggy kisses. Miss them every day but love to see your little ones because they make me smile.

As for conferences, I didn’t plan on going to Fit Bloggin (but I’m originally from Virginia so if I can plan a visit there, I might just attend) but I am definitely going to an Internet/Affiliate Marketing conferences called NAMS (Niche Affiliate Marketing System) in January in Atlanta. Looking forward to it very much. Might plan to attend a few more but not sure yet.

  • Susan October 28, 2009, 12:19 am

My dog (in Chicago…sad!) always used to lick me when I got home from runs…definitely loved the salt!

I’m going to have to think about Fit Bloggin’…The Healthy Living Summit was awesome, so it’d be fun to attend another conference…maybe I’ll see you there!

  • Andee (LAEasyMeals) October 28, 2009, 1:54 am

That sounds like such an awesome conference. All the topics sound really interesting, wish I could go!
