Thank you so much for your kind comments on my 15K Race! They made me feel a lot better. I think Kat from Kat’s Daily Plate said it best when she told me to repeat: "If things were calm in my life right now and all I had to focus on was running, then I would be running faster. But given EVERYTHING I am dealing with, my body is doing pretty damn well." So true! I must always stay positive.
Ryan sent me a few pictures from the race. I think these pictures are pretty telling!
This morning, I did some work for the Operation Beautiful book and then I ate another bagel with cream cheese:
My appetite has been non-existence today, which is really odd because I’m normally famished after a race. Nothing in my fridge looked appealing, so I decided to go get Thai takeout.
I rocked the most embarrassing shirt I own (and the Husband’s sunglasses). I love this shirt, though!
I need to get one for the Husband that says "I love my wife." Haha.
Now, I’m sitting in front of the TV and preparing to watch the Virginia Tech vs. University of Miami game:
I’m eating some cashew tofu…
And some Tofu Pa-naag:
Plus, copious amounts of rice.
And a beer:
Let’s go MIAMI! We’re so proud of our team this season; I hope they pull off another win!
What college football team do you root for?

Twitter
We are big Mizzou fans in our house because my fiance went there. My alma mater is Northwestern–it's fun to root for them because you have zero expectations, so when they win it's a nice surprise!
Love Thai. Mmm.
Bah to Mizzou, go KU!!!!
And go Sam Adams Oktoberfest! YUM, one of my faves. Fall is the best time of year for both running and beer, IMO.
I don't like football but my fiance went to the University of South Carolina so I route for them. Plus it's fun to say, "Go Cocks!"
Caitlin,
Thanks for the amazing shout-out. So glad my words were helpful. I meant them. You do so so much and are a real inspiration to me, especially on my lazy days!
Enjoy the night with your hubby. I would try to partake in the football discussion here, but I would just embarrass myself!
enjoy your nice saturday afternoon of college football!
jenna
Ha, I probably should be supporting UVA since I uh…went there, but the team kind of sucks…a lot…this year.
I'll just abstain from supporting a team this season. Ha.
Go Gators! I went to undergrad at UF so they are my first love
I went to grad school at FSU….I want to love the Noles, but they just make it so darn hard…usf? seriously? Definitely a fair weather fan when it comes to them…
Number 1 – I love that shirt . . . Number 2 – A for effort on your race, sometimes don't work out as we want, but it doesn't mean that it was bad for us! Remember, you inspire TONNES of people to run everday, really if I ever feel like crap and not running, I just read your blog. Hope you have a FAB day Caitlin
my fiance was born in norman, which means we have to root for the sooners (university of oklahoma)
despite that fact that neither of us went there! (his parents did teach there though)
OHIO BUCKEYES!!
Tofu panang is my fave! My college (American U) didn't have a football team hahah, what a ghetto college experience
Tofu panang is my fave! My college (American U) didn't have a football team hahah, what a ghetto college experience
I am glad you are feeling better about the race!
I don't watch football but since my husband is VT alum, I would have to go with VT if I were going for anything
Sorry :/
Wisconsin Badgers all the way! GO BIG RED!
my dad is a huge UM fan and is coming up here for the UM UNC game !! Can't wait for that! I've only been a tar heel for a month but i've been a cane for 23 years
Whoops…I just realized that Miami is playing Virginia Tech and not Virginia. Phew, now I can go back to…rooting for no one.
i am now an aggie by default via brad; go Texas A&M!
University of Texas. Hook 'em!
If you're not a Gator, you're Gator bait
YUM! Your food looks delish!
I'm a UGA grad so I love my Dawgs! And my BF is a FSU grad so…yeah, you and I are not friends on Saturdays, I guess!
Oh my gosh those pictures are so telling…what intensity you have on your way, eh?? I think this race will make you appreciate the next ones a whole lot more. I just feel like giving you a big bear hug after seeing those sad pics!
I love your tee!!!!!! I must find one. I'd wear it all the time, haha.
Go Iowa!
Im totally pulling for the canes as well! Right now were falling a bit behind but im confident in Shannon and the Rest of our boys!
http://www.ilovetshirts.net/specialtees.asp?custom=My%20Wife&gclid=CKL46PiUkJ0CFVRc2godjjac0g. <– Order up one of these for the hubby!
Umm.. I'm probably the biggest Gator fan in the universe
I'm watching the UM game though! and hoping for a UF/UM Nat'l Championship game – I want a FL showdown!
Your Thai looks glorious by the way!
I'm a VT grad so of course I'm cheering for the Hokies all the way from California! Unfortunately, the game isn't on tv here, so we're getting play updates online. Hokies are looking pretty good! Sorry Caitlin! But the game isn't over yet….:)
University of Michigan! Even thought I went to U of Illinois for grad school,I grew up in Michigan, and will always love U of M. And college football! This does mean I am biologically programmed to hate Ohio State. Sorry Veggie Girl.
Things I like (okay, love) about this post: 1) you recognize taht hubby shirt is embarassing and still wear it. I feel the same way aobut sweatshorts (shorts made of sweat material? hello, heaven) 2) bagel w/ cream cheese. the best best best post run treat EVER. 3) How quickly you turned around about the race. It's so so easy to wallow after a bad race, but it's absolutely the most productive when you can move past it!! And congrats on the book deal!
Amen to Kat. It is incredible that with everything that you have going on, that you even have time for running and training for a MARATHON! That is something that you should be pretty proud of.
You Thai takeout looks good. Enjoy the game and the beer.
I am a Gopher fan. University of Minnesota
In a year from now, you are going to look at that medal and remember the amazing things that happened this very week. The actual race time is irrelevant.
Mmmm… running and beer… a great end to a great week!
It's Virginia Tech, not Virginia
Huge difference…we're huge rivals w/ Virginia!! Since I'm a former Hokie, I must say GO HOKIES!!! Congrats on your race, just finishing is always an accomplishment
Great way to combat those post race blues! My appetite is always in cogintio after a race or a long run. Weird, but I find that it usually takes about 24 hours for my metabolism to catch up. The next day, I'm ravenous!
College football is all about PSU here. I'm an 08 graduate and actually know a few guys on the team.
Hope you and your hubby have a great night together!
Loooove college football! Michigan and Notre Dame fans here.
I am doing the same thing right now… Football and beer!
I am all about the Crimson Tide!
All of a sudden I have that craving for Thai, looks great! Longhorns baby! love them!
I am sorry to hear that your 15K wasn't all you had hoped it to be. It's races like those that make us look forward to the next. And the quote from Kat couldn't have said it better.
Favorite college team? Depends on the sport… Hockey – UND Soiux (my alma mater), basketball – UNC Tar Heels (I lurve the Tar Heels)… and I don't really have a favorite college football team, but if I had to choose, I would root for the Sooners.
Love the shirt, haha. i bet your appetite will kick in tomorrow though. watch out! i hope your team wins. i really don't wantch any college sports. i don't know who to root for
Love that shirt! I need to get one for when I get married in June!! I am a Memphis and Ohio State Fan!!
KANSAS STATE. we finallllllly had a big win today and i was at the game -perfect weather and great day all in all.
Earlier this year, for your faster run times that is, you were probably consuming more animal protein. I know from my own experience I ran my faster times when I was eating meat versus when I was a vegetarian. This is NOT to suggest you need to change your eating habits, just that your body may need even more time to adapt to your new vegetarian eating style.
what a great quote she gave you ,and good things to remember! You have SO much going on – exciting stuff! – but it's definitely more on your plate than most people have.
I think you did GREAT on your race, you finished, and you only have better things coming up
I'm a Hokie fan – sorry! :\ I was thinking of you guys during the game today since I know you're Miami fans. I was pretty scared of this game going into it, and the weather sure didn't help today.
jackie – i was thinking about that! i am being tested for anemia to be sure and im starting to take a b12 supplement.
texas tech red raiders all the way. hubby's alma mater. of course they have no chance in heck to ever win but its fun.
I love that shirt!! I totally think you need to get hubby an "I love my wife" version fo' sure
I love your shirt!
Speaking of fun shirts today I ran in a 5K to support breast cancer and after it was over hubby and I were walking to breakfast when he saw a shirt that said "Save a life, Grope your wife", lol! Just wanted to share
I root for the Gators while hubby roots for the Seminoles.
Ok…your next giveaway has to be a shirt like that! I desperately want one. my husband would turn about 47 different shades of red, but it would be worth it to broadcast my love to the world!
UofM!!!!! we totally rocked it tonight! hope your team won too!
Great shirt!
Florida Gators all the way! Grew up in Gainesville, got my bachelor's and master's there, and will always bleed orange and blue! Go Gators!
The Florida State SEMINOLES!!!
We are big Virginia Tech fans at our since — that's where my husband and I met.
You should check out the B12 spray that Dr. Mercola sells on his website. I've used it a lot. http://www.mercola.com
bad races are tough, but you have the right attitude – it's all about the fact that you raced at all!
a 15K is a LOT more than most people do on a saturday or sunday morning. be proud of yourself!
GO HOKIES:) Sorry… but I do love your blog!
Love college football! Or any football for that matter…I went to BC undergrad so GOOO EAGLES!
