Sweaty Run

in All Posts

Good afternoon!  I’ve been hard at work all day — work never seems to stop for me, even on the weekends!

I woke up at 6 AM and made a little brekkie:

CIMG7007

Oikos yogurt, strawberries, and a crushed Kashi TLC bar.

After working a little, I snacked on a piece of bread with PB:

And then I went for a 4.0 mile run in the 95 degree heat!  It was killer hot out and so humid.  I’m not sure why I waited so long to go running (you think as a native Floridian, I would have figure it out by now…), but it still managed to be a pretty good run:

  • Duration: 40 minutes
  • Distance: 4.0 miles

I came home and refueled with 1/2 a Myoplex shake that EAS sent me to try:

CIMG7014

I’ve reviewed EAS products before, and my opinion has been that they are pretty decent tasting but I’m not crazy about the ingredient list.  I feel that same way about this shake.  It’s a decent shake, it’s convenient, and it tastes good — I just wish it had fewer artificial ingredients!

I got some more work done (including the agenda for the Healthy Living Summit!) and then the Husband made me lunch:

CIMG7015

He topped brown rice with some Alfredo sauce, and in the middle were kidney beans and steamed broc.

CIMG7016

I INHALED this! It was sooo delicious.  Why does food always taste better when someone else cooks it! 🙂

I’m off to take a nap, and tonight we’re going to see Bruno (two movies in 1 weekend!).

Hope you’re having a nice day!

Hi! Did you like the addition of alfredo sauce to your rice bowl? I love your rice/bean/veggie combinations but whenever I try to make them, i feel as if they are too bland. I am a huge sauce person (Ketchup, mustard, bqq etc.!!) Do you have any suggestions as to what kinds of sauces or spices would be good to add to that type of thing without using the HFCS loaded junk!? Thanks!!!

  • MarathonVal July 11, 2009, 3:37 pm

WOW. I am super impressed that you ran so far in such high temps!!! I have done that a couple times – like the god awful Chicago Marathon when temps were over 100 lol – but my body completely shut down then. You are in great shape! Make sure to take care of yourself! 🙂

You went running in the dead of heat…you are so brave! Can't wait to hear how Bruno is!

  • Joy July 11, 2009, 7:38 pm

I agree with Meganerd – move that peanut butter to the edges – don't you miss it when it only covers part of the bread?
We need husbands alfredo sauce recommendation please….

I just fast walked and it was only 64 degrees out – you did 4 miles in 95 heavy humid degrees! Ouch. I'm impressed.
