Lots of Fun Stuff!

Good morning! It may be Monday, and I may have a lot of stuff to do this week, but I’m trying to stay positive! :)

Breakfast was divine:

My banana oatmeal contained:

  • 1/2 cup oatmeal
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 sliced banana
  • Toppings: two tablespoons granola and blueberries

Operation Beautiful

As you may know, we’re playing a fun game on Operation Beautiful called "Where in the USA is Monica?"  Monica from Run, Eat, Repeat is taking a cross-country tour!  She is driving from California to Maryland from July 10 to July 17, and along the way, she will be spreading the Operation Beautiful love!  On Sunday, she hinted that she is "moving away from the ocean, but not the water!" and the next stop was once a winter Olympics site.   If you guess Monica was in Salt Lake City, Utah — you were right!

Here are the hints for the next "Where in the USA is Monica?" stop.  Can you guess where she is headed?

  • We can thank Theodore Roosevelt for recognizing the beauty of this land
  • Monica is very Faithful to getting Operation Beautiful’s message to this place

Go to Operation Beautiful to see the rest of today’s notes.  They are especially creative and fun today!

Oh She Glows Bootcamp!

I wrote a new article on Motivation for Oh She Glows.  Head on over to Angela’s site to find out how to stay motivation when all you want to do is nap on the couch!  :)   And check out her Amazing Grass giveaway, too!

The Fresh Air Fund Success Story!

Last Friday, I wrote about the Fresh Air Fund, which raises money for children in New York City via the New York City Half Marathon.  A reader named Betsy signed up for the program right away!

She wrote, "I’ve always admired Fresh Air Fund, and even applied for a job or two there back when I was first moving to New York.  I am a huge advocate for giving everyone, especially low-income families, a chance to experience green space, and wrote part of my college thesis on that topic, so it’s mission is near and dear to my heart.  When I saw your post, I gave it about 2.5 seconds of thinking, and clicked right though.    Only a little more than a month to train for a half and raise $1000?  When it’s for a wonderful cause like this, why the hell not!  So, I’m in.  And am especially excited. I’ve done loads of races before, but never for a charity, so this feels especially special. "

Betsy needs YOUR help to raise the money! It’s a great cause, so instead of getting that latte from Starbucks, grab some office coffee and give Besty a few bucks!  I know I did! :)

Have a great day!

I love the way you inspire us all Caitlin!

I'm so glad Betsy signed up– I don't think I have the guts to yet! If a runner can't raise the full amount of money, are you out? I can probably find out on the marathon site, but just thought I'd throw it out there.

My "long runs" of 4 miles might not cut it for training :)

mel – just like TNT, if you dont raise all the money by the race, they charge your credit card for the remainder.

Your motivation post was great! I can definitely relate to de-motivation. I think the most important thing to think about when you are trying to stay motivated is how you feel after a great workout/ultra healthy meal. I, for one, feel a lot better when I've exercised and eaten a delicious healthy dinner.

ND – granola is easy to make, but that's store-bought.
