Doing It Right

If you’re coming over from iVillage, welcome to my personal blog!  :)  If you’re looking for Operation Beautiful, check it out here.

I got my day started with a wonderful bowl of banana oatmeal, flax, and blackberries!

For lunch, the quest to find fun ways to eat veggie burgers continues!  In case you’re wondering, these are the "Dr. P" burgers I’ve been referring to all week:

Hey — it’s a miracle.  I can pronounce everything on the ingredient list!

I defrosted a patty and then broke it into four pieces, made balls, and rolled the balls in flax.

Happy Birthday, HTP!  🙂

Plus, a side salad:

    OO Veggie Meatballs!! Yum!

  • Anonymous July 30, 2009, 10:27 am

I used to purchase those burgers last year ALL the time! I loved 'em because they tasted so fresh and were so much better than processed soy burgers. Unfortunately I can't find them at my local Costco anymore! NO!

  • Whitney@whitsgettingfit July 30, 2009, 10:30 am

Oh that oatmeal. So yummy looking. I must have oatmeal tomorrow. MUST.

  • Amy July 30, 2009, 10:32 am

I just got that runner's list in my email! Sounds like I should read it. I give myself serious guilt trips if I miss a day of running, but I'm learning that if my body says no, my mind needs to listen!

  • leslie July 30, 2009, 10:34 am

i feel like putting a birthday candle in a veggie burger sums up the health blogging world in one photo. such a good idea though – i think i have one of those burgers in my freezer. i'll have to try this!

that article is great – you're right, it really captures the ob spirit. i like how they described it as "part post secret, part pay it forward." i'm so happy it continues to be so successful!

  • Sarah (Running To Slow Things Down) July 30, 2009, 10:50 am

Love those Dr. P's veggie burgers! They're so delicious and much more "normal" then some of the others on the shelves. 😀

    Happy B-Day HTP!!! 😀

  • lookingforserenity July 30, 2009, 10:59 am

  • Peanut Butter Swirl July 30, 2009, 11:06 am

hey girlie I am just catching up on your posts –
you looked gorgeous without any makeup and you said it best – make up shouldn't define us as women!

Your so creative with those Dr. Praegers veggie burgers!!

  • MarathonVal July 30, 2009, 11:12 am

Glad you are having a good blogiversary 😉 Love the experimentation with the veggie burgers – I did that last night too by making veggie burger meatballs for my hubby! They are very versatile!

  • Runeatrepeat July 30, 2009, 11:22 am

I totally agree that we shouldn't be afraid to take a day off…I used to get so disappointed in myself, but it's part of the training 🙂

  • seesaraheat July 30, 2009, 11:36 am

    That doggie is so funny!

    Happy Blogiversary!

I need to try Dr. P's burgers, I'm so over Boca and Morningstar with their gnarly ingredients. I definitely love Sunshine burgers!

  • Tina July 30, 2009, 11:47 am

LOL!!! I can't wait to have a dog!

  • Ada July 30, 2009, 11:50 am

Happy blogiversary!!!! Those P burgers rock, by the way;)

  • Lovely Lacey July 30, 2009, 12:01 pm

Those burgers sound good. I find so many veggie burger that actually contain very little veggies in them. Yours seems to be pretty loaded with veg.

  • Deva July 30, 2009, 12:04 pm

That is a yummy looking lunch 🙂

  • Joelle (The Pancake Girl) July 30, 2009, 1:25 pm

Oh my gosh, I am obsessed with those Dr. P veg burgers! I don't have too much of a problem with them falling apart however.. I usually broil them, perhaps that's why?

  • Julie July 30, 2009, 3:47 pm

such a creative way to eat veggie burgers! I just bought some .. i might have to try that!

  • She-Fit July 30, 2009, 4:29 pm

You need to teach James some manners 🙂
    Love the veggie burger balls.

  • platipus329 July 30, 2009, 5:00 pm

What a creative use for those burgers! We bought them once, and I was so not a fan for the reasons you mentioned, but my dad actually liked them and didn't mind the falling-apart, so I was happy to get rid of them,

  • Gab* July 30, 2009, 5:24 pm

Your veggie patties are kind of like veggie falafels, yum!

  • Lauren July 30, 2009, 5:29 pm

I love love love these veggies burgers. Out of all of the numerous ones I've tried, Dr. Pregers are my favorite!!

Hmm, mine don't seem to fall apart too terribly bad. I use to Foreman and they ususally grill just fine.

Try cooking them from the frozen state. It may work out better for you. But I love your ideas of using these burgers in other fun ways!

  • Erica July 30, 2009, 6:26 pm

hahah James rocks. And is certainly not shy 😉 Love the idea of rolling the burger bits in flax! And way to celebrate the bday with a candle 🙂

  • heyitstay July 30, 2009, 8:19 pm

Great idea with those ooey, gooey, messy falling apart (but delicious!) veggie burgers!

  • Andee (Runtolive) July 30, 2009, 8:23 pm

I love that idea of making those veggie burger into little balls! I'm thinking it might be good rolled in some Panko breadcrumbs and lightly pan-fried. Yum!

  • Sarah W. July 31, 2009, 3:45 am

hungry girl books have TONS of recipes for using veggie burgers! they are great scrambled with eggs…
and in a wrap w/ tons of veggies and laughing cow cheese – just a few ideas off the top of my head!

  • Lauren July 31, 2009, 10:23 am

These are my favorite veggie burgers! I love that they actually taste like vegetables… they are not veggie burgers posing as meat burgers.

I'm enjoying your creativity with using them – I love the candle in the "veggie burger ball" :).

    HYSTERICAL pic of the pup!!
