Pancake Party

in All Posts

Good morning!  This morning I hosted a super fun PANCAKE PARTY with Meghann and Megan.

Meghann was at my place at 5:45 AM.  I wolfed down a piece of toast and PB with coffee as we gossiped and caught up on each other’s lives.

Then, we drove to meet Megan for a fun group run!

These speedy ladies really PUSHED me this morning.    As you know, I haven’t run more than a 5K since my 15-mile trail race in April, but I’m determined to get my mileage back.   Meghann and Megan motivated me to run 4.0 miles, a little more than my training plan called for — but it was great!

They were so sweet.  They kept asking me if I wanted to slow down or walk.  But I said, "No! I’m never going to get fast again if I take it too easy!"  So I buckled down and tried to keep up.  I did ask to walk once, but other than that it was straight running.  The last mile was really challenging!  I survived. 🙂

  • Duration:  39 minutes
  • Distance: 4.0 miles
  • Calories Burned: 320 (estimate)

We came home and I began to prepare our breakfast.  I was one sweaty cook! :)  Sexy:

I made a huge batch of whole wheat pancakes and put a bunch of fruit + yogurt on the table, too.

Here’s my brekkie:

Yay for friends!

I’m off to work!  I have to work a half day at my full-time job, some hours at my part-time job, and then I have a physical therapy appointment.  Good times. 🙂

Congratulations on the success of Operation Beautiful! I hope you feel like a million bucks 🙂

So fun that you girls all got together this morning.

I have a question about the pancakes: do they keep you satisfied for a good period of time? Just curious

  • Caitlin at Healthy Tipping Point June 26, 2009, 6:13 am

mel – thank you! hmm i would say they keep me as satisified as any other breakfast — i usually eat at 6:30/7 and have to eat a snack by 10 regardless of what i eat for breakfast.

  • AWK June 26, 2009, 6:23 am

Can I ask what kind of water bottle you run with. I'm training for my first HalfM and I'm to 3 miles..and realize I need to start carrying water with me but don't know the best bottle out there. What do you suggest? THANKs

    hey!
I'm from Croatia, and few days ago I left a note for my mome on her mirror saying that she's beautiful and the best mom in the world. She told me today that everytime she looks in the mirror now, she feels beautiful!
P.s. Can you tell me recipe for that pancakes? 😀

  • Caitlin at Healthy Tipping Point June 26, 2009, 6:26 am

AWK – for shorter runs, i just run with a bike water bottle (you can get them at target or a bike shop for like $4). for longer runs, i wear a ladies fit camelbak. they are very comfy and once you get used to it, you dont notice it at all!

meg – yay!! re: the pancakes, its a mix called hodgson's mills. im not talented enough to make it from scratch LOL

  • Caitlin at Healthy Tipping Point June 26, 2009, 6:26 am

meg – you should take a picture of the note and send it to me!!!

Yum! I'm always so bummed that the one food my husband refuses to eat is pancakes (too many gross pancakes his mom made as a child). Totally my fave breakfast food.

I'll have to try that mix one of these days.
