Workout, Interrupted

in All Posts

I must be flexible with my training program, because life always gets in the way! :)  I was scheduled to do a light elliptical workout, and I was dying to get a good sweat in after this crazy weekend, but….

James developed a nasty case of pink eye, and he needed to go to the vet.  I intended to take him after work, but then my computer had a totally meltdown and I spent 2 hours with technical support fixing the problem!  The Husband ended up taking Jamesy to the doctor, but by the time everything was settled, the window for a workout was gone. 🙁

My second mid-afternoon snack was suppose to be a Green Monster… but…

GROSS! Instead of almond breeze, kale, flax, and a banana, I subbed out the banana for 1 cup of blueberries.  It was seriously DISGUSTING.  Do NOT try this combo! I think the banana has a sweetening and binding effect on the Green Monster that blueberries simply cannot replicate. I choked down two swallows and gave up!

Instead, I ate some cereal:

Divine! 🙂

Dinner was made by the Husband:

CORN ON THE COB!  So summery.  Plus, he made me a delicious wrap that was stuffed with black beans, melty cheese, and grilled zucchini.

Great meal!  🙂

Stay tuned for my review of Skinny Bitch, which I’ll be posting tomorrow!

Looking forward to the review of Skinny Bitch. I’ve read reviews of it before, so I’m curious to see what you have to say about it.

nice sign! otherwise we might not be able to tell you didn’t like it. I find that blueberries on their own in smoothies don’t really do it for me, maybe it is the binding thing-but they do make a great addition to milk and cereal!

I like blueberries in my ‘green’ monsters but I’ve always used bananas as well.

i hope James is okay! Life gets in the way of our plans sometimes 🙂

Your puppy is sooo cute!I have a golden retriever at home and I often skip out on workouts at the gym to take him outside. We trained him to be off the leash so we can run in the national forest together (I live in AZ). Usually I wind up thanking Buddy for giving me “the looks”. I prefer the outdoors to gym running.

Also…have you tried the Skinny Bitch cookbook? There is a kick ass granola recipe that is seriously delicious. I have a yogurt maker so sometimes I make plain yogurt and mix it in with the homemade granola…it does not disappoint! You should think about getting it =)

man, I wish my honey would make me meals like that!! When he cooks I get Campbell’s soup…if I’m lucky! bwahahahah.

Hope your little James is OK!!

I totally agree about the green smoothies. They don’t work without banana.

Thanks for the heads up on the blueberry sub in the smoothie. You would think it would be a valid substitute! I’ll definitely make sure not to drink green smoothies without banana now though.

I LOVE corn on the cob.

  • HangryPants May 4, 2009, 9:52 pm

    Banana is a definite necessity.

Awww poor James- I hope he feels better! What a great looking dinner the husband made. Love that melty wrap

  • NoMeatAthlete May 5, 2009, 3:42 am

That smoothie looks delicious. Not! It’s ok, I’ve made a few like that in my day. You gotta experiment to keep it fresh! Sometimes when they look gross, they actually taste ok. But apparently not in this case.

Hope everything is ok with James!

  • Stacey May 5, 2009, 7:35 am

🙁 Poor James, I hate it when animals get sick..they get the “I’m-so-helpless” look

  • Love, Fitness, Money, More May 5, 2009, 8:15 am

Poor baby, hope he feels better soon!

PS. Adding blueberries to you green monster is delicious if you (as you said) never omit the banana! It will still look like the blueberry one though. hehe.
