Double Duty

in All Posts

Around 5:00 PM, I drank a Green Monster:

My GM contained:

  • 1 cup unsweet almond breeze
  • 2 cups kale
  • 1 banana
  • ice

My dad made a yucky face when I forced him to try it… hah! I swear they are good!

I also had watermelon:

I settled down in bed to try to read several long documents for The Holistic Doctor Is In, and I made a valiant effort for about 30 minutes… but my eyes started to get so heavy.  I decided to take my work with me to the gym and do double duty.  I actually think better on cardio equipment than I do at a desk!

Here’s what I did:

  • 15 minutes elliptical
  • 15 minutes walking on the treadmill at 3.5 mph at a 3.0 % incline
  • 10 minutes walking on the treadmill at 4.0 mph at a 3.0 % incline
  • 20 minutes walking on the treadmill at 3.5 mph at a 3.0 % incline

During the first 15 minutes on the treadmill, I carried two 5 pound handweights and did the following exercises while walking:

  • Bicep curls
  • Military presses
  • Shoulder shrugs
  • Arm pumps

After the 1 hour of cardio (the documents were reallly long), I did several ab exercises:

  • 50 bicycle crunches
  • 40 regular crunches

By the time I got home, I was understandably STARVING and wanted a quick dinner.

I made an egg bagel with melted cheese.

Plus a side salad.

Stay tuned for the Project Glow recap tomorrow AM!

Good way to multitask! That’s why I love the elliptical so much 🙂 Never thought of reading while walking on the treadmill though!

MM I have started making GMs .. with spinach though. Have you tried slicing up the banana and freezing it? I use frozen banana and don’t ned ice, which I have found makes the consistency think and like a milkshake!!

I’ve tried a lot of green monsters but for some reason I just cannot do the kale. I’m starting to think that maybe I got a bad bunch, is it supposed to be really bitter? I love the ones with spinach though, yum.
