I feel so rundown.  Yesterday, I thought it might be emotional, but I’m definitely headachy, stuffy, and achy

All through work, I did the internal debate in my head — "Am I feeling well enough to workout?"   because I hate to miss a workout.  My personality means that I easily overextend myself (case in point: my knees).   So, I called the Husband, described my symptoms, and asked for the "doctor’s" permission for a light workout.  He told me that no exercise is sometimes the best thing for my body… and I knew he was right.

In hindsight, it’s OK that this week has worked out to be a rather light week, but next week I start training for my Metric Century Bike Race AND a Triathlon.  :)  I need to save up my strength!  More details to come!

My Eats!

At least I had a beautiful, healthy, and delicious day of eating!

Mid-afternoon snacks included:  the other half of the yogurt bar from this AM plus a plum.

A piece of dark chocolate:

A Green Monster:

Yum!  I’ve got to mix-up my Green Monster pictures if I’m going to drink one everyday!

And I’m sorry to be so lazy with my dinners lately, but I really didn’t want to stand in the kitchen and cook tonight.  Luckily, I still have a bunch of Amy’s Kitchen products in my freezer!

CIMG4582

This Teriyaki Bowl was TO DIE FOR.  Amy’s has changed the way I think about frozen dinners!  If you have not tried Amy’s before, you MUST.  I will be purchasing this Teriyaki Bowl again in the future!

Plus, a side of cucumber, pineapple, and carrot:

All together now:

It was a delicious and filling dinner. 🙂

Tonight I got my pack on… I’m going on a fun weekend trip

CIMG4580

I did pack a few healthy snacks, but I’m not sure I’ll be needing them.  There’s enough beer, funnel cake, soft-serve ice cream, sausages on a stick, and other fun festival food to keep me plenty full where I’m going this weekend!  More details to come! 🙂

Have an absolutely wonderful evening!

I get the same way about taking a day off! It's something I need to get over, that one day won't ruin my routine…

    <3 green monsters!

And Amy's Teriyaki Bowl is absolutely DELICIOUS! She has definitely changed my thinking about frozen dinners!!

Have a FUN FUN FUN weekend! Festival food is definitely extremely tempting!

Oh gosh, I’m going through the same thing right now! I have a nasty cold and I’ve been really fatigued so I refrained from working out this week. Well, I started feeling really depressed this week and I couldn’t sleep. I think that b/c I’m used to working out 5 or 6 days a week (and used to getting those endorphins) stopping suddenly is just making me feel worse!
So last night I did the free 25 minute gentle hatha yoga from yogadownload.com (I think Jenna at Eat Live Run linked to that site a while ago and that’s how I found it). My cold isn’t really any better today and I still had trouble sleeping, but mentally, I felt 100% better.
I think I’ll do it again this evening and hope that this time it will improve my sleep as well as my mood.

Mmm your dinner looks fab… I love your bowls (all of them!)

Hope you feel better, esp. in time for your fun wknd!

  • Anonymous April 30, 2009, 6:54 pm

I LOVE those Teriyaki bowls! I don’t know if you’ve had the regular Amy’s tofu/veggie/rice bowl before, but it’s SO ONIONY. It’s delicious, but the next morning I can still taste the onions and it’s not very pleasant.

Good call on not working out!

  • jenngirl April 30, 2009, 7:10 pm

Sorry you’re not feeling your best, but it definitely sounds like you made the right call today. Especially with your training starting next week!

    Totally agree about Amy’s!!

Your weekend trip sounds like a blast, I can’t wait for details! 🙂

  • Siobhan April 30, 2009, 7:12 pm

Ooh your dinner sounds good- I wish Amy’s products weren’t so expensive though! I splurge on her california veggie burgers every once in a while- she does have a way with frozen food!

  • Christina April 30, 2009, 7:22 pm

that Amy’s meal looks so good! I’ll definitely have to try one soon.

Sounds like a fun weekend ahead!

  • Help Meghan Run April 30, 2009, 7:48 pm

sorry you’re feeling sick! taking a day off was a great idea, resting up is crucial, especially before what seems like an amazing weekend ahead!

love love love amy’s ANYTHING, i haven’t tried that bowl yet though — thanks for the review =)

    have a great night!

  • Mica April 30, 2009, 8:19 pm

I’m sure your body appreciated the day off. Here’s to a less run-down tomorrow!

  • Danica's Daily April 30, 2009, 10:31 pm

  • jesslikesithot April 30, 2009, 11:47 pm

    I love that Amy’s meal!!

I’m glad that you listened to the hub and gave yourself a little rest!!

And all your green monsters pictures just make me crave the shake even more! 🙂

  • Thinspired May 1, 2009, 2:45 am

    Hi Caitlin!
I think it’s great that you are resting today.
Quick question…I love your dinner but what does the hubby do on nights when you have something like that? I have a lot of meals that I like for myself but I never know what the hubby should have if we’re not eating together. Does he have one too, or fend for himself? 😉
Can’t wait to see where you are off to this weekend!

  • Caitlin at Healthy Tipping Point May 1, 2009, 3:32 am

Niki – GM contains: 1 cup almond breeze, 2 cups kale, 1 banana, and 1 tb flax. you could add stevia or agave nectar if you find it too sour!

thinispired – well the husband was out of town tonight so i was on my own anyway. but i admit to letting him fend for himself in the kitchen sometimes when he is home. he usually makes a PB sammie. 🙂

i feel like i missed someone’s question, so if i did please ask again!!

  • ari May 1, 2009, 3:56 am

the teriyaki bowls are my FAVORITE amy’s product!

  • Elina May 1, 2009, 4:55 am

Good idea taking a full rest day. I have a problem with taking those as well, but your hubs is right – sometimes it’s definitely better to stay away from the gym!
Don’t feel bad about being lazy in the kitchen – those product reviews are just as helpful to us and you balanced it out with some nice veggies. Delicious 🙂

  • healthy ashley May 1, 2009, 4:56 am

So you are going to do the metric century! Yay! I should sign up this weekend…

Have fun on your trip. Can’t wait to hear where you’re going!

  • NoMeatAthlete May 1, 2009, 5:05 am

I’m surprised (and happy to see your review of the Amy’s frozen dinners). I always see this stuff in the health food store, and I always pass it by, thinking that frozen meals are frozen meals, loaded with sodium, empty carbs, etc. But apparently not this one. I love cooking, but every once in a while I need a night off. I’m sure you understand!

Anyway, I enjoy reading your blog, keep it up!

  • Recipe man May 1, 2009, 5:10 am

hope you feel better. take a few days to relax and eat light foods. but go back to your routine soon enough

  • Lauren May 1, 2009, 6:16 am

I love your leaf bowls! Have an awesome weekend.
